<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong><span dir="auto">Mobility in Mexico has transformed into an increasingly </span></strong><strong><span dir="auto">complex, multimodal, and technology-driven</span></strong><span dir="auto"> ecosystem , where transportation apps have gone from being an alternative to becoming a structural component, revealed the study </span></span><strong><span class="s2"><span dir="auto">&#8220;This is how Mexico moves</span></span></strong><span class="s1"><span dir="auto"> ,&#8221; presented by </span></span><a href="https://web.didiglobal.com/mx/"><span class="s3"><span dir="auto">DiDi</span></span></a><span class="s1"><span dir="auto"> in collaboration with </span></span><a href="https://www.kantar.com/latin-america/latinoamerica/mexico"><span class="s3"><span dir="auto">Kantar</span></span></a><span class="s1"><span dir="auto"> .</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">During the event, </span></span><span class="s3"><span dir="auto">Juan Andrés Panamá </span></span><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">, general manager of DiDi Hispanoamérica, stressed that it is important to understand how cities move.</span></span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">“Without mobility there is no employment, no health, no education. Understanding how cities move is the first step to transforming them,” he said.</span></span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">The study revealed that </span><strong><span dir="auto">public transport remains the backbone of mobility in Mexico</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , with the bus as the main means used (24%), followed by transport </span><em><span dir="auto">apps (17%) and the metro (15%).</span></em></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">However, one of the most relevant findings is the consolidation of </span><strong><span dir="auto">multimodality</span></strong><span dir="auto"> : one in five Mexicans combines two or more means of transport on the same journey.</span></span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">In this context, mobility applications play a key role by covering the so-called &#8220;first and last miles,&#8221; that is, the journeys that connect users to mass transit systems or their final destination.</span></span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">The study also indicated that </span><strong><span dir="auto">92% of respondents have used mobility apps</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , positioning them as a preferred option even over traditional taxis. The main reasons for using them include safety, convenience, and time optimization.</span></span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">Another relevant fact is that, although there are around 40 million vehicles circulating in Mexico, less than 30% of people use their car daily.</span></span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">Factors such as lack of parking and security concerns have driven the use of alternatives such as digital platforms.</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">In terms of behavior, </span><strong><span dir="auto">68% of Mexicans have already resumed their daily commutes to work or school</span></strong><span dir="auto"> following the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting a sustained return to urban mobility. Furthermore, the study identified a growing interest in more sustainable options, with a 22% increase in searches related to eco-friendly transportation.</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s3"><span dir="auto">DiDi </span></span><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">emphasized that currently more than 29 million people used mobility applications to make at least one trip in 2025, of which about eight million correspond to the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City.</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">The analysis also revealed that mobility responds not only to functional needs but also to emotional ones, as its use increases during social events and celebrations. Furthermore, one in ten trips in regions like </span><strong><span dir="auto">Mexico City and Guadalajara</span></strong><span dir="auto"> is linked to health services, reinforcing its role as a facilitator of access to essential services.</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">Finally, the study identified five key factors that influence the choice of transport: </span><strong><span dir="auto">accessibility, safety, comfort, sustainability, and time optimization</span></strong><span dir="auto"> .</span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><span dir="auto">Against this backdrop, the company reiterated its commitment to technological innovation, including artificial intelligence and electric vehicles, to continue transforming mobility in the country.</span></span></p>
