Stellantis Mexico announced the rollout of the first Ram 1500 produced at the new Saltillo Truck Light Duty Plant , marking a new stage in the company’s manufacturing strategy in the country.

“The rollout of this first unit at our new plant demonstrates the capability, dedication, and skilled Mexican workforce. This production reaffirms our commitment to Mexico and to our employees, who make it possible for every vehicle assembled at this plant to meet the highest quality standards,” said Carlos Rivera, Vice President of Manufacturing at Stellantis Mexico.

The unit is a Ram 1500 4×4 Crew Cab Bighorn, destined for the domestic market , and was assembled to the highest quality standards. With this addition, Stellantis expands its production capacity, adding local manufacturing to its export production.

The production of this model in Mexico aims to consolidate the complex as a key point within the global operation . The focus includes serving the domestic market, in addition to maintaining its position as an exporting country.

The announcement aligns with the company’s vision of continuing to invest in Mexico. The strategy includes creating jobs and expanding operations to meet domestic market demand.

Stellantis Mexico has been operating since 1938 and has more than 17,000 employees in three regions of the country . Its facilities include a Parts Distribution Center in Toluca and eight production plants in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Coahuila.

During 2025, according to the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 266,027 units of Stellantis RAM products were produced in Mexico , with August being the month with the highest production at 27,050 units.

Since its arrival, the RAM 1200 has positioned itself as a key work tool within the brand’s commercial portfolio, the company reported in a press release.

Now, with its 2026 update, RAM introduces new versions, improvements in safety, comfort and handling , as well as a more competitive cost of ownership that consolidate it as a comprehensive solution for customers looking for performance, reliability and versatility .

The RAM 1200 2026 operating system varies depending on the version: the Tradesman is equipped with halogen headlights with DRL daytime running lights; the Bighorn adds fog lights with cornering function to improve visibility when turning; and the Laramie incorporates automatic projection with Full-LED headlights , integrating technology for safer driving.

To facilitate daily work, the Tradesman versions incorporate functional details such as side steps for accessing the bed , 10 external and six internal tie-down points, as well as anchor hooks on Crew Cab versions . Wheels range from 16- and 17-inch steel wheels to 18-inch aluminum wheels on the Laramie version.

It also offers configurations for two or five passengers with heavy-duty HD cloth seats, textured in HD leather depending on the version. In the Crew Cab , the rear seats fold down 60/40 and support up to 100 kilograms (kg) of cargo, in addition to having ISOFIX anchors and under-seat storage space.

The infotainment system integrates a 10-inch touchscreen , AM/FM radio, 10GB of internal storage, wireless connectivity, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto .

During its launch, brand representatives highlighted that one of the main advancements is the introduction of the 2.0-liter turbocharged , four-cylinder in-line engine, which generates 217 horsepower and 288 lb-ft of torque . This engine is paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission , allowing for more dynamic handling and improved fuel efficiency.

In addition, the 2026 RAM 1200 offers a payload capacity of up to 1,200 kg  and the largest bed volume in its class , with 1,914 liters in its Regular Cab version, and has a towing capacity of up to 3,000 kg .

In terms of safety, the 2026 RAM 1200 integrates up to 29 driver assistance features , including ABS brakes with EBA assistance, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and Trailer Stability Control (TSC).

Versions and prices in Mexico

With the addition of these new versions, Stellantis consolidates the RAM commercial line as the most complete on the market , covering everything from light pickups to heavy-duty models.
