<p><span dir="auto">The </span><a href="https://www.gob.mx/se"><span dir="auto">Ministry of Economy (SE)</span></a><span dir="auto"> reported that </span><strong><span dir="auto">750 companies</span></strong><span dir="auto"> with allegedly irregular activities and that are dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of steel products were identified, of which 350 were suspended in their imports and procedures were initiated to cancel the </span><strong><span dir="auto">Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services Industry Program (IMMEX)</span></strong><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><strong><span dir="auto">The SE detailed, through a statement, that the activities of the company Bremsa Regiomontana</span></strong><span dir="auto"> were suspended , which, together with the company Elegant Fashion, would have triangulated import operations for 76,761 tons of steel during 2025.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span dir="auto">The federal agency indicated that these actions were carried out within the framework of </span><strong><span dir="auto">Operation Clean-Up</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and were the result of inspections with various institutions, such as the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency, the Ministry of Economy, the </span><a href="https://www.sat.gob.mx/portal/public/home"><span dir="auto">Tax Administration Service (SAT)</span></a><span dir="auto"> and the </span><a href="https://www.anam.gob.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM)</span></a><span dir="auto"> , in addition to information provided by the </span><a href="https://canacero.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (Canacero)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span dir="auto">Of the total number of companies inspected, 400 are under analysis and in compliance with information requirements in order to determine the start of the administrative procedure.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">The SE carried out the inspection and verification of said companies dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of steel products, both in national territory and abroad, in order to </span><strong><span dir="auto">determine the legality of their import-export operations</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and to verify compliance with the rules of origin of foreign manufacturers that export steel products to Mexico.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span dir="auto">The federal agency indicated that, in coordination with other federal government institutions, it seeks to ensure the </span><strong><span dir="auto">security of supply chains</span></strong><span dir="auto"> and the ongoing fight against smuggling and the misuse of economic development programs.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span dir="auto">In the lead-up to the review of the  </span><strong><span dir="auto">United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , the country&#8217;s mining and metallurgical industry is one of the issues on the negotiating table, especially regarding critical minerals—such as cobalt, copper, fluorite, among others—where Mexico and the United States have agreed to work on a joint plan.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">As part of the actions to strengthen this industry, on February 12, the Mexican government announced that it had recovered </span><strong><span dir="auto"> 1,126 </span></strong> <strong><span dir="auto">mining concessions</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , equivalent to 889,512 hectares, due to lack of payments or absence of exploration.</span></p>
