<p><strong><span dir="auto">Private consumption in Mexico registered a monthly growth of 0.5% during August 2026</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , while in its annual comparison it advanced 1.4%, according to the Monthly Indicator of Private Consumption (IMCP), published this Thursday by the </span><a href="https://www.inegi.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">With seasonally adjusted figures, </span><strong><span dir="auto">the indicator reached a level of 114 points</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , based on 2018, driven mainly by </span><strong><span dir="auto">spending on domestically produced goods and services, which increased 0.6% compared to last July</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . Within this component, consumption of goods grew 0.7%, while consumption of services advanced 0.4% month-on-month.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In contrast, spending on imported goods showed no variation during the eighth month of the year in its monthly comparison.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span dir="auto">On an annual basis, consumption of domestic goods and services increased by 1.1%, with increases of 1.1% in goods and 1% in services. Meanwhile, imported goods registered annual growth of 0.7%.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-686149" src="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26.jpg" sizes="(max-width: 802px) 100vw, 802px" srcset="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26.jpg 802w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-300x217.jpg 300w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-768x555.jpg 768w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-600x434.jpg 600w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-150x108.jpg 150w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-120x86.jpg 120w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/IMCPAGO26-750x542.jpg 750w" alt="" width="802" height="580" data-pin-no-hover="true" /></p>
<p><span dir="auto">The August result represents progress after consumption had shown less dynamism during July 2026, when it reported variations of 0% on a monthly basis and 1.1% annually.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Furthermore, it reflects a significant weight of spending on domestic goods and services, and a context of slowdown, but with positive signs in the import market.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span dir="auto">The Monthly Indicator of Private Consumption allows us to know the evolution of spending by households on consumer goods and services, both of national origin and imported, explained Inegi.</span></p></blockquote>
