1,271 days passed between the closing of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the opening whistle of the 2026 edition, which was hosted by Mexico City and the three-time World Cup host city of Mexico City (formerly Azteca).

Several cities across the country came to a standstill in the moments leading up to the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, in which the Mexican national team emerged victorious with a score of two to zero against the Africans.

But that pause that various industries were able to take, in logistics and transport it could not be experienced, and instead they lived the world cup fever without stopping the operation, without coordinating the units that traveled the roads or that were in some process of foreign trade, or inside a customs to be dispatched.

Through their social media networks, various transport and logistics companies shared the ambiance of their offices to welcome the opening of the 2026 World Cup, with the main objective being to cater to the public’s interest in watching the Mexican national team’s match.

According to a KPMG survey , 42% of companies will install screens in their offices to allow employees to watch the games without neglecting their responsibilities, a situation that was confirmed by some business leaders in the sector.

Official statistics, replicated by various organizations in the sector, indicate that transport and logistics contribute 7.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is why it is important that activities do not stop even during World Cup events.

Other data highlighted in the KPMG survey on business behavior include:

• 37% will enable specific spaces to watch the broadcasts.
• 26% will avoid scheduling meetings during the Mexican National Team’s matches.
• 19% will suspend work activities while some matches are being played.
• 18% will allow working from home on key dates.
