<p><strong><span dir="auto">The heavy vehicle</span></strong><span dir="auto"> market in Mexico showed contrasting behavior during August 2026. </span><strong><span dir="auto">Wholesale sales continued in positive territory</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , while </span><strong><span dir="auto">retail sales again registered a decline</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to the same month in 2025.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to the Statistical Bulletin of the </span><a href="https://www.anpact.com.mx/"><strong><span dir="auto">National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT)</span></strong></a><strong><span dir="auto"> , during the eighth month of this year, two thousand 719 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> were sold wholesale , a growth of </span><strong><span dir="auto">15.8%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to the </span><strong><span dir="auto">two thousand 348</span></strong><span dir="auto"> of August 2025.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">With this result, between January and August wholesale sales reached </span><strong><span dir="auto">19,956 vehicles</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a figure </span><strong><span dir="auto">7.0% higher</span></strong><span dir="auto"> than the 18,654 units sold during the same period last year.</span></p>
<p><strong><span dir="auto">The cargo segment sold 2,380 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> wholesale during August 2026, a </span><strong><span dir="auto">22.5 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> year-over-year increase . Among the fastest-growing categories were </span><strong><span dir="auto">Class 7 , with a </span></strong><strong><span dir="auto">145.5 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> increase , followed by </span><strong><span dir="auto">Class 8</span></strong><span dir="auto"> at </span><strong><span dir="auto">92.8 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , while </span><strong><span dir="auto">fifth-wheel tractors saw a </span></strong><strong><span dir="auto">17.3 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> increase . In contrast, Classes 4 and 5 declined by 29.6 percent and 25.0 percent, respectively.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In the January-August period of 2026, cargo totaled </span><strong><span dir="auto">16,992 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a </span><strong><span dir="auto">7.3 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> increase . However, fifth-wheel tractor-trailers saw a </span><strong><span dir="auto">10.5 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> decline , with 7,688 units compared to 8,592 during the same period in 2025. Class 8 trucks, on the other hand, accumulated a </span><strong><span dir="auto">24.2 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> increase .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Passenger </span><strong><span dir="auto">traffic showed a different pattern in the wholesale channel. During August, </span></strong><strong><span dir="auto">339 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> were sold , </span><strong><span dir="auto">16.3% fewer</span></strong><span dir="auto"> than in 2015. Class 7 sales grew </span><strong><span dir="auto">by 161.6%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , while Class 8 sales fell by </span><strong><span dir="auto">75.9%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and intercity buses declined </span><strong><span dir="auto">by 5.7%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . Year-to-date, the segment totaled 2,964 units, an increase of </span><strong><span dir="auto">5.2%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>

<h4><strong><span dir="auto">Retail maintains the contraction</span></strong></h4>
<p><span dir="auto">Retail sales continued their downward trend during August 2026. </span><strong><span dir="auto">Two thousand 888 vehicles</span></strong><span dir="auto"> were sold during the month , a decrease of </span><strong><span dir="auto">8.9%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to the three thousand 171 units sold in August 2025. In the January-August period, the market totaled </span><strong><span dir="auto">21 thousand 622 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , </span><strong><span dir="auto">19.0% less</span></strong><span dir="auto"> than the 26 thousand 685 sold during the same period last year.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">Retail sales of </span><strong><span dir="auto">cargo trucks reached 2,487 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> in August of this year, a year-over-year decrease of </span><strong><span dir="auto">3.5 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . Class 6 trucks advanced </span><strong><span dir="auto">15.8 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , Class 8 trucks grew </span><strong><span dir="auto">9.4 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and Class 5 trucks increased </span><strong><span dir="auto">3.7 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . In contrast, </span><strong><span dir="auto">fifth-wheel tractors</span></strong><span dir="auto"> declined </span><strong><span dir="auto">11.2 percent</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , Class 7 trucks fell 14.3 percent, and Class 4 trucks declined 12.8 percent.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Overall, cargo sales continued to decline by </span><strong><span dir="auto">16.2%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , with 18,643 units sold. Fifth-wheel tractor-trailers remain among the most affected segments, contracting by </span><strong><span dir="auto">27.5%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , falling from 11,807 units between January and August 2025 to 8,557 in the same period of 2026.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">Passenger </span><strong><span dir="auto">sales also failed to reverse the trend in the retail channel. During August 2026, </span></strong><strong><span dir="auto">401 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> were sold , </span><strong><span dir="auto">32.4% fewer</span></strong><span dir="auto"> than in 2025. Class 8 saw a </span><strong><span dir="auto">57.6%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> drop , while Class 7 decreased </span><strong><span dir="auto">by 31.1%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . Intercity buses declined by 2.4%, and Classes 5 and 6 fell by 6.7%.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Between January and August of this year, retail passenger sales contracted by </span><strong><span dir="auto">32.8%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , with 2,979 units sold. Intercity buses saw a </span><strong><span dir="auto">25.0%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> decrease , and Class 8 buses registered a cumulative decline of </span><strong><span dir="auto">59.9%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">August&#8217;s results confirm the difference between the two channels: </span><strong><span dir="auto">wholesale has accumulated growth of 7.0%, while retail remains 19.0% below its 2025 projection</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . In freight, Class 8 showed strong monthly growth in wholesale, while fifth-wheel tractors experienced double-digit declines in both wholesale and retail sales</span></p>
