HG Transportaciones (number 9 in the Top 100 Trucking Companies® ) and Autotransportes El Charqueño have incorporated two APEX heavy transport simulators as part of their training strategy. This initiative is being developed under the HG Transportaciones University concept , with the goal of integrating simulation into operator training.

“At Universidad HG Transportaciones, we understand that training cannot remain limited to traditional methods. The incorporation of trucking simulators allows us to train operators in a much more comprehensive environment, where they can face real-life situations without jeopardizing their safety or the operation. For us, it’s not just about teaching driving skills, but about developing judgment, responsibility, and decision-making abilities. This technology gives us the opportunity to prepare better-trained operators from the start, raising the standard of our entire operation,” stated Eric Mijares, manager of Universidad HG Transportaciones.

The model aims to replace traditional methods with simulation-based processes. Operators can face scenarios such as emergency braking, loss of control, or adverse weather conditions without real risk. Each practice session becomes a measurable exercise that provides information about the operator’s performance .

The training is supported by data generated from each session. Operators’ decisions are recorded and analyzed, allowing for the identification of patterns and the correction of habits . The approach focuses on building evidence-based learning processes.

Both companies share infrastructure and methodology within this scheme, which generates consistency in the way of training and evaluating , and strengthens operations to establish a common standard in operator training.

The initiative addresses the need for qualified personnel in the sector. The simulators allow for the training of operators prepared for complex scenarios and adaptable to different conditions. The project aims to develop critical thinking and responsibility from the outset of training .

“Today, companies that are truly looking to reduce risks and improve their operational performance are understanding that training cannot rely solely on field experience. Simulation allows them to anticipate errors, make better decisions, and create operators who are much better prepared from the start,” said Jose Miguel Montoya, Commercial Director of APEX Simulators.

With this implementation, the group positions Nuevo León as a leading state in the adoption of technologies for training in road transport and HG Transportaciones University as a training model.

In this context, according to figures from the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in 2025, a shortage of 99,000 operators was reported in Mexico in 2024 and it is projected that by 2028 it could reach a shortage of more than 106,000 operators.

El cargo HG Transportaciones University maintains alignment with APEX for operator training apareció primero en T21.

It was precisely from their previous experience at TeamBack, a company focused on medical services for the workplace, that they identified a space to add value to transportation. In 2022, they formally established Movilidad 360  and a year later began consolidating their infrastructure.

The axis: a driving simulator developed with Mexican engineering that, rather than recreating cabins or vibrations, focuses on detecting risk patterns when driving.

“We wanted a tool that would serve to educate, not just impress. The simulator identifies whether the operator is looking in the mirrors, using turn signals, braking early, or engaging in dangerous practices. And it does so in an environment that can be installed in different distribution centers, without requiring fixed installations,” Manuel Pérez Cortes, director and founding partner of Movilidad 360, explained to T21.

The company’s commitment goes beyond the truck. Its focus is on strengthening operator professionalism as a continuous process, tailored to each client. Therefore, the simulator offers customizable scenarios, such as complex urban intersections or adverse weather conditions, while the diagnostics it provides allow for the design of specific training programs, such as defensive driving or post-accident interventions.

“Not all drivers face the same challenges. Some need to strengthen their reaction time, others improve their peripheral visibility. The training we offer is designed based on the risk profile we detect in the simulator,” said Brenda Ochoa Miranda, founding director of Movilidad 360.

The portfolio also includes services such as administrative procedures with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) , license plate rental, and, soon, certification as a Federal Motor Transport Driver Training Center (CECAF) , which will allow them to officially certify operators.

4 reasons why companies are getting closer

Mobility 360 offers four specific reasons why its solutions are generating interest in small and medium-sized fleets:

1. Diagnosing real-life habits : The simulator detects behaviors that are invisible in a traditional exam, such as failure to check mirrors or unnecessary jerky movements.

Therefore, they recommend viewing the simulator as a resource for both operations and human resources, and even for training administrative staff who also manage company units.

“The simulator can be a gateway. A kind of ‘admission test’ that allows you to understand the operator’s real profile before delivering a unit. And then, a continuous training tool,” Pérez summarizes.

For now, Movilidad 360 operates out of Mexico City , with a clear vision: to grow nationwide, integrate artificial intelligence into its processes, and become a key ally for more companies to strengthen their operations through responsible management.

Grupo Merza, a Mexican company dedicated to the distribution and trade of consumer products, has reached a significant milestone in modernizing the training of its transportation operators with the opening of its Operators’ School, equipped with the APEX transportation simulator.
