Volaris reported that its shareholders approved the business combination with Viva Aerobus , which will create the Más Vuelos Group , with which they seek to expand connectivity in Mexico and internationally .

In a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) , the airline detailed that at its General Assembly it reached a quorum of 93.7%, with 91.8% of the company’s outstanding share capital voting in favor of the combination, with no votes against and the rest abstaining .

“The approval of these resolutions by the shareholders represents an important milestone in the proposed transaction with Viva, to create an airline group with a more solid and efficient foundation to expand air transport and strengthen connectivity in Mexico and internationally,” he stated.

Peter Cerdá, regional vice president of the  International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the Americas, considered that the agreement between Volaris and Viva aims to offer a better service to passengers.

“Without a doubt, it’s a practice that’s carried out worldwide, and it’s done constantly. We’ve seen it in Europe, North America, and Latin America, so whether it’s commercial agreements or joint ventures , in the end, it’s the passenger who benefits,” he said in an interview with T21.

He added that in the case of Mexico it is an interesting opportunity , as is resolving the issue between Aeromexico and Delta, “so that the market is dynamic, has flexibility and so that when the conditions are right, the airlines can position themselves in the country for global connectivity.”

In December 2025, following the announcement of Volaris and Viva, Grupo Financiero Monex emphasized that the new group aims to generate economies of scale that reduce fleet ownership costs , improve access to capital and strengthen the financial profile, critical factors in an environment marked by pressures in the supply chain and increasing maintenance and engine costs.

“Both airlines emphasized that they will share an operating model based on point-to-point flights and low fares, which will facilitate commercial and technical integration. Compatibility in fleet, infrastructure, and reservation systems anticipates substantial synergies in costs and distribution. From our perspective, this move positions the group to compete more aggressively against regional and global rivals in a market where the recovery of air traffic and the expansion of tourism remain key catalysts,” he stated.

In its reports submitted to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), Volaris stated that it transported 30,995,000 passengers in 2025 , a 5.2% year-over-year increase. Total revenue reached $3.038 billion, a 3.3% decrease compared to 2024.

Meanwhile, Viva transported 29,957,000 passengers in 2025 , an 8.2% increase compared to 2024. It also recorded revenues of $2.376 billion, a 7.3% decrease, although with a 6.5% increase in capacity.

US railroads Norfolk Southern Corporation (NSC) and Union Pacific (UP) announced that their shareholders voted with more than 95% in favor to carry out their merger.

UP stated that 99.5% of the votes cast by its shareholders were in favor of issuing new common shares in connection with its merger with NSC.

“Our shareholders see the value and understand that this merger will unlock new opportunities to improve service, growth, and innovation. We look forward to submitting our application to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) and detailing how the transaction will provide seamless, single-line service nationwide to improve transit times, safely increase reliability, and strengthen competitiveness,” said Jim Vena, CEO of Union Pacific.

He indicated that the preliminary vote count from the special shareholders’ meeting represented almost 80% of all outstanding shares.

Meanwhile, the NSC stated that shareholders voted almost 99% in favor to approve its previously announced transaction.

“Our shareholders’ approval marks a key milestone in our journey to create America’s first transcontinental coast-to-coast railroad, combining complementary networks and capabilities to unlock a multiplier effect of benefits for all stakeholders,” said Mark George, president and CEO of Norfolk Southern.

He reiterated that the merger will preserve union jobs and improve safety while offering faster and more reliable transit times, and will also provide customers with new and “more attractive” shipping alternatives, unleashing the industrial strength of American manufacturing and creating new sources of economic growth across the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, NSC shareholders will receive 1.0 share of UP common stock and $88.82 in cash for each share of the other railroad. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027.

Grupo Aeroméxico announced that starting November 6, it will “land” again in the financial markets of Mexico and the United States , with which it hopes to obtain approximately 178.8 million dollars (USD).

The firm mentioned that the offering in Mexico will be 27,463,590 shares at a price of 35.34 pesos per share, while in the United States it will be 11,727,325 shares at a price of 19 dollars per share.

“The selling shareholders have granted the placement intermediaries of the International Offering an over-allotment option to acquire up to 2,171,050 additional ADSs, which will be valid for a period of 30 days from the date of said offer,” the company said in a statement.

In addition to the Global Offering, Aeromexico announced a private placement of shares for an amount of around 25 million dollars at a price of 1,805 dollars per share.

Delta , the airline’s current shareholder and long-term strategic business partner, did not participate in the Global Offer and signed a four-year lock-up agreement .

“Aeromexico intends to use a portion of the net proceeds from the primary component of the Global Offering and the Simultaneous Private Placement for general corporate purposes, including payments related to fleet expansion, investments in customer experience infrastructure, and fleet maintenance obligations,” the company stated.
