Having more cameras , alerts, and data does not necessarily mean having greater control over an operation . When information is scattered across different screens and systems, the challenge becomes different: how to identify what is happening, understand where the risk is, and act before it becomes an incident, as explained by specialists from Samsara Mexico during the “Intelligent Operations” event.

In that context, the company presented new solutions in Mexico that seek to take artificial intelligence (AI) beyond data analysis and use it to automate tasks, anticipate risks, and connect what happens on the road, in yards, and in monitoring centers.

The company showcased tools such as the 360-degree AI Multicamera , aerial view for vehicles, rear collision alert, artificial intelligence agents, the Incident Center , and a Tracking Tag to expand visibility over goods and assets.

The investment also reflects the importance of Mexico within the technology company’s strategy. Julia Monroy, Vice President of Sales for Mexico , noted that the country is its second-largest market after the United States and that the company has been operating in Mexico for approximately eight years.

The new 360- degree camera integrates front and rear images into a single device to provide a complete view around the unit.

The device is IP67 certified and reinforced to operate in conditions such as dust, water, and heat. The solution was also presented for off-road applications, such as forklifts and other machinery operating in confined spaces.

In addition, there is an aerial view , designed to show the operator from a single screen what is happening around the vehicle, as well as new rear collision alerts that use AI to identify areas with a risk of impact during reversing maneuvers.

Monroy explained that the expansion responds to a need that does not end with tractor-trailer trucks.

“We wanted to increase visibility and provide access to this type of technology for any type of assets and vehicles in our customers’ fleets,” he explained.

He indicated that even minor collisions involving machinery can represent significant costs for companies, hence the solutions are moving towards other equipment present within operations.

The cargo also enters the map

But visibility doesn’t end when the vehicle’s location is known. Samsara seeks to extend it to what travels inside it .

To this end, it presented its Tracking Label , a chip-based solution that allows tracking packages and assets throughout their journey and expands traceability within the supply chain.

“There is the Tracking Label that completes our customers’ entire supply chain to give visibility not only to the boxes, the flats, but also to what they contain, what they transport, and to ensure that it arrives where it needs to go and that it arrives on time,” explained Cristina Sánchez, Solutions Engineering Manager at Samsara.

The technology relies on Samsara’s network of Bluetooth devices to communicate the location of assets without each one requiring its own GPS.

From hundreds of alerts to knowing which one to respond to

Another key focus is on monitoring centers. The company presented its Incident Center , developed to centralize security-related alerts on a single platform and prioritize those requiring attention.

The tool can gather events such as panic button activations, fuel level fluctuations, or GPS signal interference, in addition to operator, vehicle, location, and telematics data. Each operation can configure which events it considers critical, who should be assigned to them, and what actions can be automated.

The solution also has a Mexican component. According to the company, the Incident Center was born out of conversations with clients and needs in the national market , particularly regarding road and property security, and was later expanded to other regions.

One of the cases presented was that of Trayecto , which previously operated its monitoring center with information distributed across different screens and systems.

Following implementation, the company reported a reduction of approximately 57% in the time to begin applying protocols and noted that its recovery rate went from approximately 76% between 2024 and 2025, to 99% in 2025 and 100% so far in 2026 .

The challenge still lies in adoption. Julia Monroy acknowledged that in Mexico there are still companies that view technology as an expense rather than an investment, so part of the work will be demonstrating the return that automation and more efficient operations can generate.

Thus, the next step for operations does not seem to be solely about generating more data , but about ensuring that all that information allows us to know, at the precise moment, what is happening and what to do about it .

Logistics operations in Mexico face increasing pressures that force companies to rethink the management of their fleets, in an environment where costs, insecurity and operational efficiency have become determining factors, explained Luis Larrea, senior regional manager of Field Engineering at Samsara Mexico.

At The Logistics World Summit & Expo , Larrea explained that eight out of every ten products consumed in the country are transported through the logistics sector , while 72% of the national economy depends on foreign trade , highlighting the importance of trucking to economic activity. However, this dynamism coexists with rising costs: fuel prices have increased by 16.7% , while insurance premiums have risen between 15% and 20%.

Adding to this context is the issue of insecurity. Between January and October 2025, 5,200 robberies were recorded on Mexican highways , according to data from Samsara, with estimated losses of between 7 and 10 billion pesos annually.

Given this scenario, technological adoption is becoming increasingly important. Currently, 48% of fleets already use artificial intelligence (AI) , although its implementation requires clear objectives and a defined strategy to generate value in operations.

One of the main challenges remains fuel, which can represent between 30% and 50% of operating costs . In this respect, even marginal reductions can translate into significant impacts on profitability.

Operational visibility is positioned as a key element. Tools such as telematics, process digitization, in-cab cameras with alerts , operator training programs, and monitoring systems allow for improved operational control, optimized routes, and more efficient cost management, Larrea explained.

In particular, measuring idling speed and fuel consumption becomes critical . Identifying unnecessary expenses, analyzing driving habits, and differentiating between productive and unproductive idling allows for performance improvements, cost reductions, and real-time operational visibility.

Concrete examples reflect these benefits. Companies like Potosinos have reported a 23% increase in delivery time productivity , as well as a 20% reduction in fuel leaks and a 7% reduction in operator turnover .

In terms of fleet utilization , monitoring key performance indicators—such as productive hours, unit usage, maintenance, and route management—allows for progress toward more efficient operations. This translates into reduced operating costs, fewer units out of service, and improved asset management.

In this process, AI is positioned as a cross-cutting enabler that impacts various areas of the operation. From operators, with vehicle inspections, document interpretation, and in-cab monitoring, to maintenance and administrative teams, where this technology facilitates route management, report generation, invoicing, and order tracking.

The benefits are also reflected in financial and safety indicators. One example is PROAN , which achieved an 80% reduction in freight collection time and a 64% decrease in speeding violations , in an operation with more than 450 vehicles and over 70 years of experience .

Larrea emphasized that the combination of technology, data, and discipline in measuring indicators is emerging as the path to strengthening efficiency, reducing costs, and improving the competitiveness of the trucking industry in Mexico .

Digital transformation has ceased to be a promise and has become an operational reality in the transportation sector, according to Óscar Gutiérrez, Samsara ‘s regional sales manager .

In this sense, Gutiérrez explained that it’s not about creating technology for its own sake, but rather about developing solutions that respond to the industry’s real needs.

“Clients are seeing business results. And that has made the acceptance of these technological tools incredible,” he said.

“Last year, we estimate we prevented nearly 250,000 accidents,” he shared in an interview with T21.

In addition to this safety impact , there are economic and operational benefits. By cross-referencing data, fleet managers can identify consumption patterns and make decisions that reduce fuel costs, one of the highest costs in daily operations.

The goals are set to continue optimizing operations: making them safer, more efficient, and, increasingly, more sustainable .

Reducing the carbon footprint in transportation is a priority for Samsara , which has been operating in the Mexican market for six years and continues to accelerate its presence.

Outside of his corporate discourse, Óscar Gutiérrez revealed another side. Personally, he believed his leadership is based on two clear priorities: ensuring clients get the results they expect and ensuring his team has the capacity to grow.

“Each team member needs to be successful, because that makes us all successful as a team,” he asserted. It’s that combination of external results and internal development, he asserted, that is the company’s focus.

More than futuristic promises, what matters today are informed decisions, purposeful technologies, and leadership that connects results with people. That seems to be, for now, the path that Óscar Gutiérrez and his team aim to continue.
