In a logistics environment marked by economic and operational uncertainty, Ryder Mexico maintains its commitment to collaboration with carriers, technological integration, and security as strategic pillars to strengthen its supply chains, stated Ricardo Álvarez , vice president and general manager of the company in the country.

During a meeting with the media, the executive emphasized that transport management remains one of the most important components for the company, so maintaining a close relationship with its partners is key to ensuring operational continuity in the various industries it serves.

“The transportation management component is one of the most important for Ryder in Mexico. Close interaction with our partners opens doors to collaboration and joint work to continue managing supply chains in the country,” he noted.

Regarding sustainability , he indicated that Ryder is gradually moving towards the incorporation of electric vehicles, mainly on short routes and local operations.

“We are proceeding slowly but surely, selecting the regions where it really makes operational and economic sense,” he commented.

Regarding business results, the executive reported that operations in Mexico grew by approximately 5% last year , in line with expectations given the volatile economic environment. However, he emphasized that efficiency initiatives improved the quality of earnings.

By 2026, the strategic focus will be on the customer, talent retention, and strengthening the organizational culture. Currently, Ryder has more than five thousand employees in the country and has significantly reduced employee turnover.

Regarding security , Álvarez acknowledged that it is a constant challenge in the sector, although he stressed that investment in technology and monitoring has significantly reduced incidents in operations.

The leader of Ryder Mexico reiterated the company’s confidence in the Mexican market.

“We are convinced that Mexico remains a country worth investing in, provided that the appropriate analyses are done at the right time and in the right region,” he said.

Ryder Mexico presented the 2026 Ryder Awards , recognizing 25 transportation provider companies for their operational performance, collaboration, and compliance, out of a universe of 230 active partners under contract at the close of 2025.

The company explained that these awards recognize carriers that excel in key indicators for supply chain management , in a context where efficiency and reliability are increasingly crucial for logistics operations.

Ricardo Álvarez, vice president and general manager of Ryder Mexico, highlighted that transportation is a strategic component within the company’s business model, making the relationship with its partners fundamental.

“The transportation management component is one of the most important for Ryder in Mexico. An event like this, where we can interact closely with each of our partners, opens doors to collaboration and teamwork to continue managing supply chains in the country,” he said.

The executive explained that the evaluation of the winners is based on four pillars that are currently of paramount importance to the company: collaboration, regulatory compliance, technological integration, and security .

“The central focus is on collaboration, regulatory compliance, technological integration, and safety. These are the four pillars that carry the most weight in the evaluation of our carriers today,” he stated.

Álvarez also emphasized that the selection process is carried out throughout the year through continuous monitoring of operational indicators, supported by technological tools that allow for objective and transparent performance measurement.

In this regard, the evaluation was specifically carried out as follows: billing (20%), security (20%), time (20%), technological integration (10%), CFDI+CP (10%), collaboration (10%), growth in billing (10%).

With this recognition, Ryder seeks to strengthen its relationship with its carrier network

and to promote best practices in a sector that is key to logistics competitiveness in Mexico.

In the last three decades, Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) went from 14 trillion pesos to 25.6 trillion pesos, this is a growth of 1.8 times , which is the result of the economy’s own progress, but also of the trade opening with the entry into force of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and its subsequent evolution to the T-MEC.

This route is where Ryder has been present for 30 years in Mexico , arriving in the country in 1994 with the objective of providing comprehensive supply chain solutions to companies so that they could focus on their business.

With a team of three people Ryder began his journey in Mexico. The first contracts that were signed were expansions with clients already served in the United States, to give way later to the route that would be drawn in the local market. “From the beginning we focused on providing comprehensive logistics solutions, which laid the foundations for our expansion, diverse solutions and diversification in the Mexican market,” shares Ricardo Álvarez, vice president and general director of Ryder México.

To continue offering transportation and logistics services in the Mexican market, Ryder has strengthened its partnership with Fruehauf as an allied equipment provider that has been meeting the company’s equipment needs for almost two decades.

The integrated transportation solutions provider recently acquired five 53-foot Fruehauf flatbed trailers and five 53-foot dry van trailers for the expansion of Ryder’s fleet. Additionally, it recently placed an order for eight 30-foot dry van trailers for equipment renewal; in both cases, the trailers are operating on various routes throughout the country.

“Eighteen years ago, we made our first equipment purchase with Fruehauf, the first equipment we acquired were 48-foot and 53-foot flatbed trailers. Since then, we have been convinced by the combination they offer in terms of quality-price, availability to handle special projects or manufacture specialized equipment, and response times,” said Luis Murguía, Senior Director of Operations at Ryder.

The latest eight dry van trailers acquired by Ryder were manufactured using composite material, equipped with a curtain-type rear door, translucent roof, and a hydraulic ramp. These trailers enable the distribution of products in locations where a 48 or 53-foot trailer cannot access, providing better maneuverability in challenging areas and the ability to park in limited spaces.

“We listen to their needs and the challenges they face when unloading, maneuvering on the streets, and above all, meeting all the commitments they have with their respective clients. Thanks to clients like Ryder who trust in our products and support us year after year, we have been able to consolidate ourselves as the leading company in trailer commercialization in Mexico,” commented Rodrigo Arcos, Commercial Director of Fruehauf.
