<p><strong><span dir="auto">By 2025, the National Road Network (RNC) increased by 73,537 kilometers (km) compared to 2024</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , to a total of </span><strong><span dir="auto">178,608.49 kilometers of roads</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , reflecting the importance of the mobility of people and goods in Mexico, and facilitating logistics processes and supply chains in the country.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to the report released this Monday by the  </span><a href="https://www.inegi.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi)</span></a><span dir="auto"> , the country has 530,493 km of rural roads, 274,097 km of urban roads and 21,597 km of footpaths.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Of the total roads, 11,381.95 km are toll roads, and 167,226.54 km are free.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Likewise, 51,310.46 km are federal, 103,787.20 km are state, 19,757.06 km are municipal and 3,753.77 km are administered by private individuals and others.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">Mexico also has 28,941 sites of interest, among which stand out  </span><strong><span dir="auto">184 ports</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , of which 14 are shelter ports, 19 industrial ports, 26 Navy ports, 14 military ports, 81 fishing ports and 30 tourist ports; as well as 32 multimodal cargo terminals.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Among other data, RCN indicated that there are  </span><strong><span dir="auto">160 airports</span></strong><span dir="auto"> : 75 international, 53 local, 17 military, and 15 national; in addition to  </span><strong><span dir="auto">63 railway stations</span></strong><span dir="auto"> . There are also 189 airstrips, 77 border crossings, and 73 customs offices.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to the National Road Network, there are 18,195 bridges and 256 tunnels in the country, as well as 1,376 toll plazas, 46,289 kilometer markers, and 38,474 prohibited maneuvers, which are the points that drivers must avoid to turn onto other roads.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">This report provides insight into the country&#8217;s progress in road infrastructure, making it easier to address the current challenges facing Mexico&#8217;s freight and logistics industry.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to Inegi, the National Road Network provides state units and the general public with a unique land transport network that integrates highways, roads and roads throughout the country.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span dir="auto">“This system integrates the country’s highways, roads, paths, and footpaths. Its structure allows for the determination of optimal travel routes between an origin and a destination, using geographic information systems. Furthermore, it facilitates the analysis of transportation networks and the study of various phenomena associated with mobility,” he explained.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span dir="auto">The update of the RNC is the result of a joint effort between Inegi, the </span><a href="https://www.gob.mx/sct"><span dir="auto">Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT)</span></a><span dir="auto"> , and the </span><a href="https://www.gob.mx/imt"><span dir="auto">Mexican Institute of Transport (IMT)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
