<p><strong><span dir="auto">The decline in heavy vehicle sales continued in March 2026</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , although less pronounced than at the beginning of the year. Without a fundamental recovery, the market continues to reflect caution in fleet renewal and pressure on demand.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">During the third month of the year, </span><strong><span dir="auto">wholesale sales totaled 2,696 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a decrease of 2.1% compared to the </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,755 registered in the same month of 2025</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , according to figures from the </span><a href="https://www.anpact.com.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Association of Producers of Buses, Trucks and Tractor-Trailers (ANPACT)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Performance within the market was uneven. The cargo segment, which accounts for the largest volume, registered a 2.9% growth, with </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,276 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> sold . This increase was primarily driven by the Class 8, which jumped from 393 to 855 units sold during the period.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">However, not all segments followed this trend. Fifth-wheel tractors, one of the main drivers of the market, remained under pressure, falling 31.3%, with 919 units sold in March 2026 compared to 1,338 in March 2025.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_672172" class="wp-caption aligncenter" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-672172"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="wp-image-672172 size-full" src="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1.png" sizes="(max-width: 987px) 100vw, 987px" srcset="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1.png 987w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-300x173.png 300w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-768x444.png 768w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-600x347.png 600w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-150x87.png 150w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-750x433.png 750w" alt="" width="987" height="570" data-pin-no-hover="true" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-672172" class="wp-caption-text"><span dir="auto">Source: ANPACT.</span></figcaption></figure>
<p><span dir="auto">In contrast, other classes showed increases, such as </span><strong><span dir="auto">Class 6, which grew 70.2%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and Class 5 with an increase of 24.7%, although with a smaller share within the total.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Beyond the monthly results, the first-quarter figures confirm that the adjustment continues. Between January and March 2026, </span><strong><span dir="auto">wholesale sales totaled 6,159 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , representing a </span><strong><span dir="auto">20.5% decrease</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to the 7,752 units sold during the same period in 2025.</span></p>
<p data-start="191" data-end="489"><span dir="auto">In the </span><strong><span dir="auto">retail</span></strong><span dir="auto"> channel , the performance was more negative than in wholesale. During March 2026 , </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,699 vehicles were sold</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a 23.3% drop compared to the 3,517 registered in the same month of 2025, according to figures from ANPACT.</span></p>
<p data-start="491" data-end="818"><span dir="auto">By segment, cargo accounted for the largest share of the volume, with </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,298 units sold</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , although this represents a 21.4% year-over-year decrease. Within this segment, fifth-wheel tractors again showed the greatest pressure, with a 39.1% drop, while Class 8 trucks grew by 16.7%, but this was not enough to offset the overall decline in the segment.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_672173" class="wp-caption aligncenter" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-672173"><img decoding="async" class="wp-image-672173 size-full" src="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact.png" sizes="(max-width: 967px) 100vw, 967px" srcset="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact.png 967w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact-300x146.png 300w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact-768x375.png 768w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact-600x293.png 600w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact-150x73.png 150w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/menudeo-anpact-750x366.png 750w" alt="" width="967" height="472" data-pin-no-hover="true" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-672173" class="wp-caption-text"><span dir="auto">Source: ANPACT.</span></figcaption></figure>
<p data-start="1127" data-end="1382"><span dir="auto">In the first quarter, the retail channel deepened the negative trend. </span><strong><span dir="auto">Between January and March 2026, 7,001 units were sold</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , representing a 36.4% decrease compared to the 11,010 vehicles sold during the same period in 2025.</span></p>
<p data-start="193" data-end="571"><span data-teams="true"><span dir="auto">The Class 2 and 3 cargo segments showed distinct performance in March 2026. In the retail channel, these categories increased their sales by 60.9% compared to the same month in 2025, rising from 363 to 584 units. Within this segment, Class 2 registered growth of 84.0%, while Class 3 advanced by 34.3%.</span></span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">ANPACT figures show more than just a temporary decline: the pace of trucking has slowed and has yet to recover. Each month without a rebound lengthens a lull that is already shaping the course of the heavy vehicle sector in Mexico.</span></p>

<p><span>In its report submitted to the </span><a href="https://www.bmv.com.mx/"><span>Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV)</span></a><span> , the retailer indicated that this increase was driven by growth in both regions: </span><strong><span>2.9%</span></strong><span> in Mexico and </span><strong><span>3.5%</span></strong><span> in Central America, as well as by the depreciation of the Mexican peso and by new stores, which contributed </span><strong><span>1.6%</span></strong><span> to the total increase.</span></p>
<p><span>Walmex highlighted that as of March 31, 2025, it operated </span><strong><span>4,099 units</span></strong><span> in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, and Nicaragua, through self-service stores, membership-based price clubs, and omnichannel sales.</span></p>

<p><span>Regarding operating profit, Walmart saw a </span><strong><span>1.5%</span></strong><span> decrease , totaling </span><strong><span>18.889 billion pesos</span></strong><span> compared to </span><strong><span>19.170 billion pesos</span></strong><span> achieved in the same period in 2024.</span></p>
<p><span>In Mexico, gross profit rose </span><strong><span>3.6%</span></strong><span> to </span><strong><span>46.968 billion pesos</span></strong><span> in the period compared to </span><strong><span>45.353 billion pesos</span></strong><span> in the same period in 2024.</span></p>

<p><span>Its gross profit in that region was </span><strong><span>11.107 billion pesos</span></strong><span> during the period, a </span><strong><span>4%</span></strong><span> increase compared to the first quarter of last year.</span></p>
<p><span>Meanwhile, total revenue increased </span><strong><span>3.5%</span></strong><span> year-over-year, driven by </span><strong><span>1.9% growth in same-store sales and a </span></strong><strong><span>1.6%</span></strong><span> contribution from new stores.</span></p>
<p><span>Walmart Mexico and Central America highlighted that </span><a href="https://mibait.com/"><span>Bait</span></a><span> , its telephone service, reached 19.8 million active </span><strong><span>users and generated </span></strong><strong><span>2.3 billion pesos</span></strong><span> in revenue during the quarter.</span></p>
<p><span>During that period, it stated that its </span><em><span>e-commerce</span></em><span> business grew </span><strong><span>17%</span></strong><span> due to a </span><strong><span>26%</span></strong><span> increase in </span><em><span>On Demand</span></em><span> , while its </span><em><span>marketplace</span></em><span> registered an </span><strong><span>8%</span></strong><span> increase .</span></p>
