In its inaugural year, Ruta Logística attracted more than 10,000 logistics and supply chain professionals , and for this 2026 edition, this initiative has been strengthened with more than 33,000 registrations , which demonstrate the sector’s interest in continuing to promote professionalization, said Carlos Candelaria, head of the Prospective, Planning and Evaluation Unit.

Ruta Logística is an initiative that is immersed in the Management Committee for Competencies for Logistics and Supply Chain , where it is contemplated not only the realization of the Ruta Logística webinars that begin on May 6 and end on June 10.

Aguado highlighted that the logistics industry maintains a growth of between 7% and 8%, so this dynamic must be addressed, which has challenges such as infrastructure development, but now the development of capabilities is being addressed.

During the presentation of the results of the internal electoral process of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) , the president-elect, Augusto Ramos, outlined the key points that will mark his administration for the 2026-2027 period and confirmed the integration of Rómulo Mejía Durán as general vice president of the organization .

The announcement came after an irreversible trend in their favor was confirmed, in a process that the current president, Miguel Ángel Martínez, described as orderly, transparent and in accordance with the statutes, highlighting the participation in 28 voting centers and the beginning of an institutional transition towards the Ordinary General Assembly on March 2, when the swearing-in of the new National Executive Committee will be formalized.

Five pillars for the 2026-2027 management

In his first message, Ramos assured that his administration will be governed by five non-negotiable principles: radical transparency, permanent accountability, participatory and decentralized government, data-driven decisions, and inclusion without exceptions.

The proposed actions include the periodic publication of management reports , the implementation of a dashboard to measure commitments, and the holding of regional forums to decentralize decision-making. He also indicated that he will rely on technical assessments and statistical analyses, in coordination with specialized institutions, to support the sector’s defense before the authorities.

He emphasized that the Chamber will represent companies of all sizes with equal strength, from single-unit carriers to large fleets.

Security, USMCA and operators at the center

Ramos identified security as the union’s top demand. He proposed promoting secure strategic corridors with technology and real-time coordination, as well as strengthening collaboration with federal and state authorities.

Internationally, he announced that in March they will deliver a diagnosis to the Ministry of Economy on the relevance of road transport in the review of the USMCA, noting that the sector moves most of the goods that pass through the country and participates in more than 100 industrial branches.

Another key focus will be professionalization. The president-elect indicated that they will aim to train more than five thousand operators in the coming year, addressing a shortage that has left thousands of vehicles idle due to a lack of drivers. He also proposed strengthening ongoing training and improving the working conditions of operators as a foundation for competitiveness.

Fleet renewal and institutional strengthening

Regarding vehicle modernization , Ramos acknowledged the drop in sales of new vehicles during 2025 and noted that renewal will require coordinated work with manufacturers and financial institutions, as well as the management of incentives that encourage the replacement of vehicles.

Finally, he reiterated that his presidency does not seek to divide, but to consolidate the organization, and highlighted the incorporation of Rómulo Mejía Durán to the General Vice Presidency as part of a project of union unity.

With this change, Canacar opens a new stage focused on institutionality, verifiable results and greater closeness with the rank and file of the trucking industry.

The simulator features configurations that include “Kenworth T880 tractor trucks with Cummins X15 engines for configuration with food-grade hoppers, dry vans, and even large trucks. The tool brings operators closer to real-world operating scenarios,” explained José Miguel Montoya, Commercial Director of Apex Simulation and Technology.

Montoya commented that the company’s differentiator is its after-sales system, which he described as the most robust in the simulation market in Mexico.

With technicians distributed in different cities across the country, Apex ensures permanent support to keep the equipment operational.

Customizing the simulators allows operators to face real-life scenarios from their daily work, from distributing flour to customers to optimizing fuel consumption.

“This level of detail in the programming ensures that operators achieve practices close to the reality of the roads and attain greater autonomy in driving,” Montoya added.

Harinas Elizondo ‘s technological investment aims to directly impact the professionalization of approximately 200 operators who are part of its transportation division, Elicarga.

Apex simulators offer more than 200 programmable real-time scenarios, where it is possible to modify parameters such as asphalt type, weather conditions, time of day, as well as unexpected mechanical issues in the engine or clutch.

These environments replicate critical road situations, increasing the responsiveness and sensitivity of operators to risks .

During the implementation process, Eduardo Islas, head of logistics at Elicarga, emphasized the importance of having a team that allows for simulating adverse conditions in a safe environment.

He emphasized that, by practicing in the cabin, operators can make mistakes and correct them without risk, which accelerates learning and increases confidence when joining the road.

The simulator ‘s programming is designed to recreate both fleet configurations and the most common critical situations in daily operation.

“It’s about transferring reality to the simulator so that the operator faces the same complexity as on the road, but with the advantage of doing so in a controlled environment,” he explained.

The new equipment will strengthen the training of operators from its earliest stages, by providing a controlled environment that combines theory and practice.

The methodology includes a week of classroom training , with eight hours a day dedicated to technical and safety fundamentals, followed by a month and a half of practical training in the simulator and with real vehicles.

This scheme will allow for gradual progress: operators of small units will be able to train to handle fifth wheels, and later specialize in double articulated vehicles .

The goal is that upon completion of the process, participants will be ready to fully integrate into the company’s cargo operations.

With this investment, Harinas Elizondo and its transport arm consolidate a continuous improvement model, with the support of Apex , that encompasses safety, efficiency and quality in the supply chain, key elements in the distribution of food products.

On behalf of the president of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) , Miguel Ángel Martínez Millán, the general director, Luis Roberto Lastiri Quirós, stressed that the distinction is not a diploma but an ethical, technical and human certification that distinguishes companies for their ability to transform realities and strengthen their people.

The figures from the event reflect an industry that is professionalizing as rapidly as it moves goods. This year, 9,704 people received training , including administrative staff, mechanics, operators, and operational personnel.

Looking at the entire period of the current administration (2023 to 2025), the figure rises to 30,412 trained professionals.

Through the four levels of the program, 9,573 people were also trained , with the basic level being the most in demand with 2,450 participants and the Human Factor diploma reaching 2,033 registered participants.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognize achievements that have made a significant impact on the sector. The IRU 2025 Diploma of Honor was awarded to operators with over 20 years of experience and exemplary leadership.

From a virtual participation, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) recalled that operators are ambassadors of the sector on the roads and that their work sustains international trade daily.

The presentation of the Canacar Outstanding Operators Award added further recognition to those who have demonstrated discipline, safety, and professionalism on every kilometer traveled. The operators were called to the stage in three groups to receive their awards amidst constant applause from the companies and families who accompanied them.

The program, developed in conjunction with the General Directorate of Innovation, Services and Domestic Trade, proposes a work agenda based on regulatory improvement, operational efficiency and technological transformation , with the objective of consolidating a national logistics innovation network that boosts the economy and reinforces the strategic role of the customs agent.

IMPULSAA Mexico is structured around five pillars:

Impulsa Capacita: Will create a national logistics training program for customs agents and the supply chain.

Ignacio Aguado, Director General of Innovation, Services and Domestic Trade at the SE, highlighted that logistics is “the most complete economic activity”, present in all modes of transport and in all states of the country.

“You drive Mexico forward, and thanks to you we have a strong and solid economy. Today we are the 12th largest economy in the world; six years ago we were 16th, and that is the result of every link in the logistics chain,” he stated.

Aguado pointed out that the instruction from the head of the SE, Marcelo Ebrard, is to strengthen the relationship with the chambers and associations of the sector, not just from a photo op, but with “a real synergy” to face global challenges and improve internal competitiveness.

“This project aims to highlight the importance of logistics and bring us together. Every link in the chain matters: carriers, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, shipping companies, and, of course, customs brokers,” he said.

For his part, Ignacio Zaragoza, president of CAAAREM, indicated that the launch of IMPULSAA Mexico represents a turning point in the professionalization of the industry.

“We are the first line of defense in the country’s customs and we have the technical and operational capacity to guarantee that goods entering and leaving the territory do so in accordance with the law,” he said.

Zaragoza stressed that, given the country’s growth as an exporting power, the role of the customs agent must evolve towards a more technical, ethical profile committed to compliance .

“Compliance has ceased to be a requirement and has become a strategic value that strengthens the confidence of the authorities, companies and investors,” he stated, highlighting the updated code of ethics and the new training programs.

Claudia Ávila, Director General of Customs Attention and International Affairs at the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) , emphasized that Mexico is experiencing “a geoeconomic turning point” , where the relocation of supply chains and the record-breaking foreign trade demand more modern, transparent and reliable customs.

“A country’s foreign trade is worth exactly what its customs are worth. And its customs are worth exactly what the integrity of those who operate at the border crossings and facilities is worth,” he stated.

Ávila noted that Mexican customs processes more than 60,000 operations daily , and that traceability, digitalization, and trust will be the elements that define competitiveness in this new era.

“The relationship between customs authorities and customs agents cannot be transactional; it must be transformational. Mexico needs capable, ethical, professional, and visionary agents,” he said.

Both the federal government and the customs industry agreed that IMPULSAA Mexico is not just a program, but a declaration of intent that Mexico wants to compete better, operate better, and be better .

With an economy strengthened by foreign trade, sustained growth in foreign investment, and a global environment that rewards trust, the country is committed to raising the standards of its customs system as a key element of its economic future.

In 2010, when the company began operations with three units , the word “impossible” was not in its vocabulary. Martínez—a mechanical engineer and second-generation entrepreneur—decided to venture into a business he barely knew.

“My first trip was to Playa del Carmen and they paid me half the fare; that’s when I understood that transportation rewards precision and punishes improvisation.” That first lesson defined the course: professionalization would be the key.

Since then, MyM Express has gone through three stages . The first five years were a race against time to learn, with sleepless nights and moments of doubt.

In the following years, the operation fluctuated between advances and setbacks until it reached consolidation with a philosophy that defines them today: “Small changes, big differences,” explained Martínez.

Over time, Martínez understood that growing up doesn’t always mean having more, but rather doing things better. “I always had to think about how to do a lot with a little,” he acknowledged.

In a business where large fleets set the pace, that philosophy became their greatest advantage: optimizing resources, reducing waste, and transforming efficiency into a form of respect for the customer .

The strategy was to grow without losing its essence. More than 120 units, 53 employees , and a network connecting Guadalajara, Monterrey, and the Bajío region solidify the operation.

But the main driving force remains the same: people. “It may seem like a machinery business, but it’s a profoundly human business,” Martínez asserted.

That’s why he implemented flexible schedules, trust, and empathy. “My responsibility is to ensure the staff is doing well; if the team is doing well, the company is doing well too,” he said.

At first, his style caused bewilderment. In an environment accustomed to pressure and shouting, his kindness seemed suspicious: “I spoke to them respectfully, and they thought I was hiding something,” he recalled.

Over time, consistency and example transformed that doubt into trust, and respect became an internal hallmark of the company.

The company’s services focus on domestic transport using trailers and 53-foot dry vans , with its own fleet “guaranteeing speed and safety.” This presence has allowed them to offer response times of between two and three hours , especially in the automotive sector , where punctuality and control make all the difference.

“The client doesn’t want promises, he wants results,” he explained.

The process hasn’t been straightforward. Martínez acknowledged that there have been tears, stress, and moments when he thought about giving up. “I’ve been close to throwing in the towel, but this business doesn’t stop. It’s a stubbornness that I’m proud of.” Today, his mantra remains: “Trust the process and enjoy the result . ”

When asked what word defines his leadership, he answers without hesitation: humanization .

“Transportation has given me everything, even in my worst economic times. I was able to eat thanks to this job, that’s why I defend it: the roads are the veins, the products are the blood, and transportation is the heart that makes everything work. If that heart stops, the country stops too,” he emphasized.

For the coming years, the goal is not to multiply routes or add units aimlessly, but to consolidate what they have built: a stable, humane, and reliable operation . Martínez summed it up without triumphalism: advance step by step, with the same tenacity that has brought them this far.

With that vision, MyM Express moves forward steadily but surely, sustaining an operation that is measured in kilometers of consistency rather than promises.

The cheers and harangues in favor of the operators, the companies and even the directors who participated in the knockout hit did not stop, despite the fact that the sun was beating down during the weekend.

The 27 companies participating in the categories of Double articulated (full), Sleeper Cab and Cab Over motivated the participation of nearly 90 operators, and as a particular topic, but in accordance with the characteristics of the region, in the MT Golfo-Centro-Orizaba the most popular category was the full one , this configuration being the predominant one in the region.

“Operators, remember that this was for you, for your families, for all those who accompanied you, for the people who are in the offices and who make sure that you are working. You came here to demonstrate your skills, but above all, you came to socialize and that is the fundamental part of the event,” said Francisco Cessa, vice president of the Association of Cargo Transporters of the Central Zone of the State of Veracruz (Atccevac) , who with this speech raised the applause of all the attendees.

Based on the versions shared by the members of Atccevac and the National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (Canacar) Córdoba-Orizaba region , during his participation in the opening ceremony of the event, the mayor of Orizaba, Juan Manuel Diez Francos, expressed his interest in maintaining the edition of the MT Golfo-Centro-Orizaba in the region.

José Carlos Gilibert, Canacar delegate in the Córdoba-Orizaba region, acknowledged the contribution of the sponsors, as well as the Posdata MX team, organizer of the event, which allowed all attendees to have a pleasant first contact with this event.

In this way, MT Mexico developed events in 2024 at its headquarters in Allende, Nuevo León; Tijuana, Baja California; Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas; and Orizaba, Veracruz.

The records of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) indicate that, with data as of the first half of 2024, 97% of the vehicle fleet and economic units are concentrated in companies that have less than 30 units.

Faced with this reality, Solistica has designed the loyalty program called Círculo Naranja , in which nearly 300 transportation suppliers participate , of the more than 1,100 suppliers, where transport lines from various segments are found.

In the awards to transporters of the Orange Circle corresponding to the 2023 operations, awards were given in eight categories that recognize the companies that stood out in the performance indicators and that is a way to generate transport partners with the aim of satisfying the needs of its clients, considered Christian Guadiana Cereceda, director of Transportation at Solistica.

“One of the objectives of Círculo Naranja is to achieve better safety conditions for operators, regardless of financial results. Our goal is to share the value of the business, to continue growing with more opportunities,” added Christian Guadiana.

The 2023 exercise is the third in this format that Solistica has carried out, and the feedback they have found with their transport partners is the ability to have a closer and long-term relationship.

The design of Solistica’s recognitions is focused on recognizing the results of each of the companies, to compare them equitably and to have an equally equitable comparative basis.

“In general, the recognition motivates our partners, but we also give them feedback regarding their performance, on key issues such as security, where data can be shared as knowledge so that they can adjust the areas of opportunity, generating better management of your company,” said Guadiana Cereceda.

“Círculo Naranja’s mission is to generate value for them, not just recognize the best, we like to help them in terms of security, monitoring the business that can be done with them, we are very factual and it is not just about being transactional. We would like companies that are starting to be able to double their fleet in five years, making it a success story,” highlighted Christian Guadiana.

One of the business partners that has followed the route that Guadiana defines is Juan Pablo Robles Guzmán, who with more than seven years of participating with Solistica, has allowed constant growth in his fleet, and in this edition of Círculo Naranja he was recognized as “Strategic Partner 2023”, the award that encompasses all areas of analysis.

The categories recognized in Círculo Naranja for the 2023 financial year were the following:

Operation.

Security.

Travel development.

Invoice development.

Operational performance.

Annual development.

Strategic partner.

After a process that took around three years and given the deficit of operators that exists in Mexico, Palos Garza Logistics now has a Driver Training and Training Center for the Federal Motor Transportation Service and Private Transportation, authorized by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Communications and Transportation (SICT) .

With this, the company can provide training courses, as well as for operators to obtain and renew the federal driver’s license type E and B.

Juan Carlos Varela, director of the Transportation Division in Palos Garza, told T21 that the objective is to train drivers from scratch within the community of Nuevo Laredo, paying for the four training centers that already exist in the region.

It is projected that training will begin at the end of August and by the end of the year 80 trained operators will have been reached. It should be noted that these are not only aimed at company operators, but the call is open to any student, “with the goal of supporting the transport union so that any operator can renew their license,” he said.

“We are going to recruit students interested in training as operators, who must complete 180 hours of training, of these 62 are theory and 118 are practice, this is exclusive for operators who work in the country. In the case of international licenses, the hours increase from 180 to 196, which are divided into 70 hours in theory and 126 hours of practice,” Berenice Luna, in charge of the Driver Recruitment, Training and Training Department, explained to T21. Garza Logistics.

The company has a program with which it facilitates interested drivers who have worked for more than a year and a half, the process of obtaining a US visa so that they can work as B1 operators.

In the specific case of aspiring operators, at Palos Garza Logistics they have to go through a 180-hour theoretical and practical training program, and then do internships in the maneuvering yard for a month.

“Subsequently, they are assigned a route instructor for another month, and in the case of transfer operators, they make daily crossings with the instructors. They know the papers that are required, the movements that have to be made at customs, etc., once this period is over, a driving test is scheduled by a certified instructor. If you pass, you are already hired by us and if you No, he will be trained for one more month,” Luna explained.

The facilities of the Palos Garza Logistics training center are located on the highway to the airport at kilometer 3.8 , it has a training classroom, units available for practice, a didactic workshop with a complete engine for study of the applicants and the maneuver yard so that students complete the necessary learning.
