Amid a transition toward more sustainable energy models, the arrival of Pomega Mexico was announced, a project that seeks to redefine electricity storage in the country . The initiative arises from a partnership between Kontrolmatik – Pomega , a Turkish company specializing in the manufacture of LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells and energy storage solutions, and Grupo Jebla , a Mexican company dedicated to hydrocarbon logistics.

The project aims to strengthen the electrical grid, boost industry, and position Mexico as a leader in technological manufacturing without Chinese integration. Sami Aslanhan , president of Kontrolmatik, revealed why he chose Mexico for the project.

“I started researching Mexico and saw its potential because there’s good infrastructure. The Mexican people know how to produce the product, how to export it, and how to implement it,” he emphasized.

He also shared Pomega Mexico’s development and expansion plan, which includes three phases: the first involves the signing of the alliance ; the second involves the installation of an assembly line ; and the third is the construction of a factory in the country .

For his part, Eduardo Cárdenas , CEO of Grupo Jebla, noted that this is a historic opportunity for Mexico to consolidate itself as a reliable partner of the United States in building a stronger, more secure, and more competitive energy bloc .

“We are one of only five manufacturers in the world capable of producing batteries without Chinese integration at the cell level. This isn’t a technical detail; it’s a geopolitical key that opens up unique opportunities for our country,” said Cárdenas.

He also welcomed new government regulations that for the first time recognize the essential role of storage in the electricity system, noting that “without storage, there is no energy transition possible . ”

Cárdenas estimated that the Mexican market will demand an unprecedented amount of batteries in the next five years, and that with clear rules, “this expansion process will be agile and safe .

Kontrolmatik has completed more than 350 reference projects in 35 countries and is the 22nd largest systems integrator in the world, with more than 1,000 employees.
