The EIB, in coordination with Mexican institutions, will finance projects aimed at strengthening climate action, local development, and gender equality . It will also provide technical and financial advice to identify strategic projects related to decarbonizing the economy, the energy transition, and developing sustainable mobility.

The announcement came after the first official visit to Mexico by the president of the EIB, Nadia Calviño, who held a working meeting with Marcelo Ebrard, head of the SE, to strengthen strategic cooperation.

“Mexico is a priority partner of the European Union. At the European Investment Bank, we are prepared to strengthen this alliance with financing for strategic projects in key areas such as energy, transport, and sustainable infrastructure, improving the lives of citizens,” Calviño emphasized.

The meeting reflects the priority that the Mexican government has given to attracting strategic investment, economic diversification , and strengthening international alliances aimed at the country’s industrial, energy, and technological development.

“Strengthening the economic relationship between Mexico and the European Union opens a new chapter of productive investment, industrial integration, and strategic cooperation. Financing from the European Investment Bank will help accelerate priority projects in line with the modernization and diversification goals promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum through Plan México,” Ebrard explained.

The meeting marks the beginning of a new stage of economic and financial cooperation between Mexico and the European Union to attract investment and develop Mexican industry, following the signing of the Modernized Global Agreement and an Interim Trade Agreement on May 22.

The Modernised Global Agreement seeks to update and expand the political, economic and cooperation relationship between both parties, after more than 25 years in force.

Furthermore, it represents an update that goes beyond trade and seeks a comprehensive strategic partnership, as it eliminates tariffs on almost 99% of goods, including agri-food products for Mexican goods.

The new Modernized Global Agreement will also cover political cooperation, technological innovation, climate change, human rights, security, and international governance.

In this context, the EIB, in coordination with the Mexican authorities, will seek to consolidate itself as one of the main financial actors in this new phase of economic integration.

As part of a one billion dollar (USD) investment, General Motors (GM) will manufacture the Aveo and Groove models at its Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila complex, which will be destined for the domestic market, announced Francisco Garza, president and CEO of the automaker in the country.

“We will start in 2027 with Chevrolet Groove and later add our beloved Chevrolet Aveo, currently the best-selling vehicle in the Mexican market,” the executive highlighted.

During the event “General Motors of Mexico’s New Project for Mexico,” held in Toluca, State of Mexico, Garza highlighted that this new project is part of the one billion dollar investment announced last January for the operations of the US-based firm in the country and is aligned with the Mexico Plan .

“It is a project conceived in Mexico for Mexico, which strengthens the national industry, takes advantage of the installed capacity in our country and contributes to reducing dependence on foreign countries, promoting sustainable industrial development in line with the objectives of the Mexico Plan,” he emphasized.

The executive indicated that starting next year they will begin local assembly of units for the national market, with the goal of reaching an approximate capacity of 80,000 vehicles per year by 2030 .

This announcement comes in a context where Mexico imposed, since January 1, 2026, tariffs of up to 50% on 1,463 tariff classifications for countries with which it does not have a trade agreement, including China, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Thailand, Malaysia and others, in order to protect the country’s industrial sectors such as textiles and clothing, automotive and steel.

In his remarks, Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) , said that 80,000 vehicles that are being imported from Asia to Mexico, which do not have Mexican parts, nor are they assembled here, will begin to be produced in the country.

“Those 80,000 vehicles represent a very big impact for General Motors to preserve, maintain and grow its manufacturing platform in our country, protect jobs, the plants they have, and it will mean a cost, an investment, because it was cheaper to do it elsewhere, but what must be acknowledged about General Motors is the decision made by its director, its global CEO, Mary Barra, to invest one billion dollars for now, plus whatever comes later,” he said.

Similarly, Ebrard indicated that these vehicles will be manufactured with more parts and components made in Mexico.

For his part, Francisco Garza pointed out that the Ramos Arizpe complex comprises five plants and employs more than 5,000 people, making it a benchmark for the country’s industrial transformation. He noted that with the projected 80,000 units, “we will be exceeding our vision of increasing vehicle production for the domestic market by 10% by 2030.”

With this project, GM is setting a precedent in the automotive industry at a time when the policy of Donald Trump, President of the United States, seeks the return of these companies to the United States.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) , GM manufactured 291,031 light vehicles in Mexican plants during the period January-April 2026 , which meant a growth of 2.9% compared to the same cycle of 2025.

In the same period, the brand exported 263,159 units , a growth of 0.1% compared to the first four months of last year.

Mexico has the opportunity to end the decade as one of the world’s most important logistics platforms , but to achieve this it must solve structural problems that currently hinder its competitiveness: insufficient infrastructure, highway insecurity, port saturation and slow customs processes.

That was one of the main conclusions of the panel ” Plan 2030: A turning point for logistics in Mexico?” , within the framework of the XVI Logistics and Transport Seminar of Leschaco Mexicana .

During the conversation, the panelists agreed that the so-called “Mexico Plan” sets ambitious goals for 2030, such as positioning the country among the most important economies in the world, increasing strategic manufacturing and strengthening national content; however, they warned that growth cannot be sustained without a comprehensive logistics vision.

Shantal Torres, procurement director of Leschaco Mexicana, explained that the goal of the plan is not only to attract companies, but to develop the ecosystem that allows them to operate efficiently: ports, highways, railways, energy, water and regulatory processes.

“Mexico cannot compete solely on proximity to the United States; it needs to become a strong production and logistics platform,” he said.

One of the projects that exemplifies this commitment is the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) , which seeks to connect the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico through railway infrastructure, ports and industrial development hubs.

Alejandra García, director of Trade Development at CIIT, highlighted that the corridor represents “the best opportunity” to position Mexico as an international logistics alternative within global supply chains.

He explained that the project is not new, but that it recently received significant investments in infrastructure and regulatory adjustments to facilitate interoceanic operations . Currently, the corridor is already handling automotive cargo crossings from Asia to the U.S. East Coast.

The official noted that the project offers advantages in terms of time and cost for companies in the south-southeast of the country that currently depend on more congested ports like Manzanillo or Veracruz. She even asserted that some routes could reduce maritime transit time by up to 20 days.

He also indicated that the corridor is focusing on three markets : domestic cargo, interoceanic crossings, and the future industrial movement derived from development hubs.

But while the country builds new projects, existing ports face increasing operational pressures.

José Antonio Contreras, CEO of Contecon Manzanillo , explained that the terminal has made significant investments to increase capacity and efficiency; however, the main bottleneck is no longer within the terminals, but in the access points and customs operations.

“The problem in Manzanillo is not the terminals, it’s the access points and the customs,” he stated.

The executive pointed out that the terminals operate 24/7, while customs maintains limited hours , causing delays in the release of goods and congestion at the country’s most important port.

He also warned about other critical challenges towards 2030, such as the lack of sufficient energy to support the electrification and modernization of port operations.

“We are being asked to move towards more sustainable operations, but we don’t have enough electricity supply,” he commented.

Contreras acknowledged that there are expansion and infrastructure projects relevant to the future of Manzanillo, but insisted that Mexico must first solve its current connectivity and cargo evacuation problems if it wants to remain competitive.

The executive emphasized that Contecon has strengthened its infrastructure in recent years and that the terminal currently has the conditions to continue growing in cargo volume. He even pointed out that the company handles large vessels thanks to the characteristics of its docks and the development of new expansion phases.

In this regard, he highlighted that Contecon Manzanillo has consolidated itself as the most important terminal in the country in terms of cargo movement, noting that this terminal alone moved more imports than the entire port of Lázaro Cárdenas.

“The Contecon terminal alone moved more imports than the entire city of Lázaro Cárdenas,” he stated.

From the perspective of the trucking industry, Noé Paredes, representative of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) , warned that the country faces a historical deficit of road infrastructure and a security crisis that directly impacts logistics costs.

He noted that 80% of trade between Mexico and the United States moves by road and that trucking moves around 60% of the national cargo.

However, he asserted that the infrastructure is insufficient and costly. While in the United States tolls represent between 1% and 2% of a carrier’s costs, in Mexico they can reach between 10% and 15%.

Added to this is the issue of insecurity. Paredes revealed that in the first quarter of 2026 there were already nearly 1,400 cargo truck robberies , so this could become the worst year for the sector since 2019.

“The infrastructure we have cannot even be used efficiently because of the insecurity,” he said.

The executive added that Mexico also faces a shortage of operators , an aging vehicle fleet, and a lack of adequate infrastructure for drivers.

Cinthia Moreno, a transport operator, also participated on this last point , sharing the vision of those who live on Mexican highways every day.

The operator acknowledged progress in female inclusion within the sector, but asserted that basic conditions for female transport workers are still lacking, such as adequate restrooms and spaces in many facilities.

Furthermore, he agreed that safety remains the main concern for those who work on the road.

“You don’t know if you’re going to make it back home when you go out,” he said.

The Pacífico Mexinol project , by the Transition Industries group , represents one of the most significant industrial investments in the country’s recent history, the Ministry of Economy (SE) reported in a statement, indicating that the plant also has the participation of international institutional investors and multilateral organizations, reflecting Mexico’s importance in the development of new production platforms in North America .

The project has the support of the Mexican government, through the SE, in collaboration with the state and municipal governments, under a model oriented towards near-zero net emissions (Net Zero), with the use of carbon capture technologies, clean energy and green hydrogen .

With operations estimated to begin in early 2030, the plant will have a production capacity of 1.8 million tons of blue methanol and 350,000 tons of green methanol per year , which will strengthen Mexico’s industrial competitiveness and its integration into global value chains.

During construction, the project will generate around six thousand jobs, as well as more than 400 permanent jobs in operation, which will also benefit regional economic development, the training of specialized talent and the strengthening of local suppliers.

“Beyond the numbers, Pacífico Mexinol will generate employment, opportunities and economic benefits for the region,” emphasized Vidal Llerenas Morales, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce of the SE, who also highlighted that it is an initiative aligned with the Mexico Plan , which promotes more balanced growth, and an industrial policy aimed at attracting sustainable investments and strengthening value chains.

The project also includes the use of treated wastewater and has more than 200 environmental mitigation measures, and includes community development programs, inclusion and strengthening of local capacities.

On April 23, a formal ceremony was held to celebrate the start of the pre-construction phase in Topolobampo, Sinaloa, attended by international investors and executives from global companies in the energy and industrial sectors, as well as federal, local, and diplomatic officials such as Ronald Johnson, the United States Ambassador to Mexico.

Methanol is a key input for multiple industrial chains, used in the production of everyday materials, fuels, and chemicals . In its low-emission form, it becomes a relevant component for moving towards cleaner industrial and energy processes.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the chemical industry was the most dynamic in attracting new investments in 2025, totaling $700 million. These industries contribute to the development of the country’s productive and export sectors’ competitiveness.

In a strategic move to relocate investments and strengthen supply chains, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the first Economic Development Hub for Well-being on April 12, located in Huamantla, Tlaxcala .

This project, which is part of the Mexico Plan , represents an advance for the industrial infrastructure of this federal entity, which also signifies a key precedent in execution times and intergovernmental coordination.

During the event, Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) , highlighted that the works of this infrastructure, whose projected investment is 540 million dollars (mdd) , were achieved in a short period, even challenging usual standards of the sector.

“An average industrial park, as you know, takes two years to complete. This development hub of this nature and magnitude is completed in record time when there is the will and organizational capacity,” he stated.

The Huamantla industrial park covers 53 hectares , with the possibility of expanding by another seven. 300 million pesos were allocated during the urbanization phase, laying the groundwork for the arrival of companies in sectors such as automotive, food processing, and metalworking .

“This land has already been purchased by companies. From now on, those companies will develop their projects on each plot. This has already been sold. You will see in the coming weeks how a wide variety of companies begin to set up operations. Each company has different needs. Here we will have companies related to the automotive industry, yes, but also to the food and metalworking industries. They are very diverse, both Mexican and foreign,” he emphasized.

Marcelo Ebrard emphasized that the economic impact of this development hub will be significant, due to the magnitude of jobs that will be created.

“Five thousand jobs are coming, plus all the indirect ones and everything that this implies for this region,” he said.

This multiplier effect includes the creation of local suppliers, logistics services, and talent development , essential elements for consolidating regional supply chains.

Among the companies that will be setting up operations are Sonavox , of Chinese and German origin, from the automotive sector; Color Link , from Argentina, specializing in cosmetics; and SIAAG , from the United States, from the food and beverage industry.

Development hubs in 2026

At the national level, the Mexican government has consolidated a network that seeks to decentralize industry. According to data from the Ministry of Economy and the Office of the President, 15 Economic Development Hubs are planned in states such as Campeche, Chihuahua, Durango, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Puebla, Quintana Roo, and Sonora, among others.

In 2026, several of these infrastructure projects are already in various stages—from planning to execution—while others are in the implementation or startup phase. The goal is to accelerate their deployment this year, with new projects planned in strategic manufacturing and logistics hubs such as Nuevo León and Querétaro, in order to meet the regional needs of Mexico.

The poles not only seek to attract foreign capital, but are part of an industrial policy aimed at capitalizing on nearshoring (relocation of production lines) and strengthening the domestic market .

The opening of the Huamantla industrial park is part of a national strategy that seeks to transform the country’s production map to accelerate industrial activity, which has had ups and downs at the start of 2026 and is only now beginning to show signs of recovery.

In February 2026 alone, Mexican industrial activity rebounded 0.4% month-on-month , driven by manufacturing, mining and construction, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

Baja California is a state with a strong export and manufacturing focus. The maquiladora sector reached record exports in 2025, with 390,972.9 million pesos (MXN) , representing a 14.7% increase compared to 2024, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) .

This figure reflects an environment in which the demand for local suppliers has become more relevant in the face of challenges such as volatility in international logistics and changes in trade policies , which have become increasingly frequent since Donald Trump’s arrival to the presidency of the United States for a second term.

Vega indicated that Baja California has one of the largest volumes of companies that are within the Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services Industry Program (IMMEX) , which is made up of approximately 1,128 operating units, concentrating 17.3% of the national total, according to figures from Inegi in January 2026.

“We are in a strategic area that has always been so and now we must take greater advantage of it, which is the so-called Cali-Baja region, in addition to Arizona and Sonora, which is a region that is not only working in a coordinated manner in terms of product innovation and alliances, but also for the development of talent, the skilled workforce that the entity has,” the specialist emphasized.

In that sense, the area seeks to leverage the talent that has been developed to boost the IMMEX industry with local and regional suppliers, which is a strategic priority.

“Currently, there are agreements with universities in Arizona and California, along with universities in Baja California and Sonora, to address this specialized demand for talent, such as software engineering , specialized semiconductor engineering, and the aerospace industry,” Vega explained.

Supply Match Platform

To address this structural opportunity, Index Mexicali has developed a platform called Supply Match that centralizes key information on the capabilities of regional suppliers.

In an interview with T21, Alfredo Vega explained that the project, built over two years with support from the state government and a business trust, allows for the registration of suppliers and buyers; the display of certifications, production capacities and contacts, as well as facilitating the link between companies and decision-makers.

“We’ve already reached 100% registration of companies and suppliers, and we’ll begin working with success stories to monitor and support business connections. The platform is practically ready and already operational,” Vega stated.

In this way, the platform becomes a key tool for multinational companies with operations in Baja California —from the aerospace, semiconductor, metalworking, plastic injection, and other industries— to identify and connect with local suppliers capable of meeting quality requirements, delivery times, and certifications.

Compliance programs are also being developed to raise supplier standards ; financial tools are being implemented to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to scale their production capacity; and virtual and in-person events are being organized to connect buyers and suppliers. The goal is to increase the proportion of locally sourced inputs.

Currently, between 3% and 5% of the inputs for exporting industries are acquired within the country, a figure that the business sector considers insufficient given the regional potential, Vega noted, indicating that greater integration of national suppliers could improve resilience, reduce logistics costs and delivery times , especially in strategic industries facing global disruptions, such as the conflict in the Middle East.

Strengthening local suppliers is also linked to public policy objectives such as the Mexico Plan , which aims to ensure that 50% of the supply in strategic sectors – steel and aluminum; heavy and light vehicles; auto parts and others – is made in Mexico.

With these actions, Baja California is committed to a strategy to consolidate a more competitive local and regional production ecosystem , aligned with the needs of global supply chains. The Supply Match platform, along with training initiatives and buyer connections, represents a firm step toward regional integration to leverage the advantages of nearshoring , border logistics, and the export industry.

The renewal of the trucking fleet has returned to the forefront of the public agenda. Amidst pressure from operating costs, an aging fleet, and environmental regulations, the federal government presented an immediate action plan to protect the heavy vehicle industry in Mexico .

The plan aims at a dual objective: to boost domestic production of vehicles and improve the sector’s operating conditions , while also making progress in reducing emissions and improving road safety, commented Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) .

In Thursday’s morning press conference, Ebrard explained that the program is structured around four pillars: tax incentives from the Mexico Plan , reactivation of the guarantee scheme, a new Official Mexican Standard on safety, and the updating of estimated prices for the importation of used heavy vehicles.

Beyond the instruments themselves, the message was also reflected in the composition of the panel. The presence of Elías Dip, president of the National Confederation of Mexican Carriers (Conatram) , along with Augusto Ramos, president of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) ; Virginia Olalde, executive director of the National Chamber of Passenger and Tourism Transportation (Canapat) ; Guillermo Rosales Zárate, executive president of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA) ; and Rogelio Arzate, executive president of the National Association of Bus, Truck, and Tractor-Trailer Manufacturers (ANPACT) , demonstrated that the program’s scope seeks to cover the entire spectrum of the transportation industry , not just one segment of the sector.

This integration also pointed to a necessary coordination to advance in the renewal of the vehicle fleet.

Incentives, financing and regulation: the package

The tax component is presented as one of the main drivers. The program will allow companies to deduct the investment in the purchase of heavy vehicles in a single year , instead of over a period of up to four years, which immediately improves cash flow for businesses.

To this end, two billion pesos (MXN) will be allocated to incentivize the purchase of vehicles produced or assembled in Mexico. In the example presented, the purchase of a vehicle valued at three million pesos (MXN) would allow for a deduction of up to two million five hundred and eighty thousand pesos (MXN) in the same fiscal year.

This scheme is complemented by the reactivation of the guarantee program , focused mainly on micro and small transport companies, as well as the so-called “man truck driver”, with the aim of facilitating access to financing, Ebrard explained.

For this sector, there is an initial fund of 250 million pesos , which will allow the acquisition of new units to be triggered through the support of development banks, said the federal official.

In parallel, the program includes the development of a new Official Mexican Standard on safety devices, which will apply to both new and used vehicles, national or imported, with the aim of raising standards on the road network.

The emphasis is in response to a context where around 30,000 accidents involving heavy vehicles are recorded annually, according to Ebrard, in addition to estimated emissions of between six and eight million tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) per year.

The fourth focus is on updating estimated prices for the import of used heavy vehicles, with the aim of avoiding market distortions, particularly due to practices such as the undervaluation of units and non-compliance with regulations , which seeks to establish equitable competitive conditions for the national industry.

Industry: urgent renewal and a signal to the market

The strategy is designed as a cross-cutting measure. According to Rogelio Arzate, approximately 200,000 direct and indirect jobs depend on this industry, making trucking one of the cornerstones of the Mexican economy.

Speaking on behalf of the sector, Arzate acknowledged the announcement as a strategic decision for the country and stressed the urgency of moving forward with the modernization of the vehicle fleet.

The fleet of heavy vehicles in Mexico has an average age of 19 years, which reinforces the need to accelerate its renewal, he noted.

The executive stressed that this transition has direct impacts on road safety, by incorporating more advanced technologies that protect operators, passengers and pedestrians, as well as reducing polluting emissions.

He also highlighted that the program will strengthen the productivity of the trucking industry and support micro and small businesses, particularly those facing greater barriers to accessing financing.

From an industrial perspective, the package also sends a signal about strengthening domestic content . Currently, the sector has 64% regional content, with 14% of that originating in Mexico, and there is a goal to increase this share by 2027.

With this, the program aims not only to renew fleets, but also to consolidate a more competitive ecosystem, with greater local integration and development of suppliers in the country.

Upon assuming the presidency of the National Chamber of the Textile Industry (Canaintex) , Rafael Torre Lamuño set a clear path for the sector: legality and the recovery of competitiveness will be the priorities, always under the “Made in Mexico” seal .

During the IX National Meeting of the fiber-textile-clothing-footwear chain, Torre Lamuño made it clear that his administration will not be one of continuity, but of transformation.

“We are not here to manage inertia, we are here to recover competitiveness, to demand a level playing field and to place the national textile industry back in the strategic place it deserves within the Mexican economy,” emphasized the director of the Providencia Textile Group.

In his speech, he indicated that the goal is not protectionism, but rather a market where the rule of law is respected so that businesses can generate more employment.

Ahead of the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) , scheduled for July 1, he stressed that this process should be an opportunity to curb unfair practices from other regions , especially Asia, and consolidate Mexico as the most reliable supplier in North America.

Torre Lamuño’s work plan is structured around four pillars: combating smuggling and illegal trade practices, reactivating the domestic market through the Mexico Plan , strengthening regional integration – by assisting in the review of the USMCA – and promoting innovation, sustainability and formal employment.

For his part, Alejandro Malagón, president of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin) , stressed the importance of the textile industry in job creation and the country’s economic growth.

“Few industries are as closely linked to employment as the textile industry; its value chain is a sector that strongly impacts the regional economy and national content . Its work generates opportunities for progress because it means income for thousands of families and provides them with stability and, above all, prosperity. Therefore, the challenges of the sector are the challenges of the industry, its priorities are our priorities,” he emphasized.

Amendment to Annex 29, a respite for the sector

During his speech, Rafael Marín Mollinedo, head of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) , announced that authorities will meet to discuss the modification of Annex 29 of the General Rules of Foreign Trade , so that the handling of textiles and footwear is not allowed in the Strategic Fiscal Premises (RFE).

According to the textile and footwear industry, under this regime textile imports are made, but they are not exported again, so they remain in the country without paying taxes. It’s worth noting that the federal government issued a decree in December 2024 to curb temporary imports of textiles, clothing, and footwear.

Vidal Llerenas Morales, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce at the Ministry of Economy, emphasized that the auto parts industry is one of the sectors with the highest national content in Mexican manufacturing , a result of years of regional productive integration.

Therefore, he said, it is crucial to strengthen technical and financial support so that more Mexican companies can integrate into regional supply chains.

“The success we have had with this program encourages us to replicate it in other strategic sectors and contribute to greater shared prosperity in North America,” he emphasized.

Francisco González, CEO of INA, emphasized that strengthening local suppliers is a strategic priority for the Mexican economy and added that the automotive industry has consolidated itself as one of the central players in global manufacturing.

“We are the world’s fourth largest producer and exporter of auto parts, as well as the main supplier to the United States, with an industrial ecosystem that generates hundreds of thousands of jobs and plays a decisive role in regional trade,” he emphasized.

For her part, Sanaa Abouzaid, regional director for Mexico, Central America and the Dominican Republic at the IFC of the World Bank Group, stated that “this program turns the potential of Mexican SMEs into real business opportunities.”

“By closing technical, operational, and commercial gaps, we help more local companies integrate into global value chains , generate quality employment, and foster a more competitive automotive industry, contributing to the guidelines of the Mexico Plan. By the second half of 2026, the IFC will seek to integrate an additional 50 SMEs, benefiting more than 100 Mexican companies,” Sanaa Abouzaid pointed out.

According to figures from the INA, the auto parts sector in Mexico showed signs of resilience and recovery at the close of 2025, with a year-on-year growth of 3.24% in November, which translated into a production of nine billion 877 million dollars (mdd) .

Meanwhile, from January to November 2025, the national production of auto parts reached a value of 110,038 million dollars , which represented a contraction of 2.86% compared to the same period in 2024, in line with the slowdown observed in the United States automotive market.
