The first five months of the year represented a 1.9% decrease in passenger handling for the North Center (OMA) and Pacific (GAP) airport groups, while the Southeast (ASUR) achieved a slight increase of 0.6% compared to the same period last year.

According to their reports sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), OMA mentioned that the decline stems from the impact of Hurricane Otis in Acapulco, which kept the airport terminal closed. During this period, passenger numbers decreased from 10,386,913 to 10,191,299 users, representing a 1.9% decrease year-on-year. The domestic market decreased by 3.7%, while the international market saw a performance increase of 10.6%.

In the case of GAP, the concessionaire of 12 airports in the country, there was a 1.9% decrease in passenger transportation, dropping from 26,218.7 passengers to 25,714.8 users.

The greatest impact was recorded at the national level, where GAP experienced a decrease of 6.7%, while internationally, there was a four percent increase.

Meanwhile, ASUR went from 18,220,179 to 18,332,807 passengers, a slight advancement of 0.6%. This was because domestic traffic fell by 5.3%; however, internationally, it rose by 5.3 percent.
