The American company OTTO Express, which specializes in full truckload (FTL) services, will seek to begin operations in Mexico this year with its own cargo, working with its local trucking partners.

Marco Puente, the company’s pricing and carrier sales manager in Mexico, commented that these plans arose from the loss of some proposals from potential Mexican clients seeking routes within the country.

“We can’t offer that service, and we see it as an area of opportunity, so we would initially invest in 20 trailers and begin using them, even in projects we already have but are now subcontracting,” he indicated.

In an interview with T21, he explained that these plans would save them between 13% and 15%, as they would no longer have to rely on intermediaries.

He also explained that the expected growth for this year is due to the fact that their revenue tripled in 2024, a trend they expect to see again in 2025.

Puente mentioned that his clients include Walmart, Hyundai , Volkswagen , Sigma Alimentos, among others.

“We have a presence in the United States, primarily in areas with a large food and transportation industry, and also in Mexico. We have a large volume through the Colombia bridge; we do virtually all of our operations through Nuevo Laredo,” he said.

He indicated that the company has the necessary capacity to respond to customer requests immediately , through 1,500 cashiers in the United States, and 700 business partners in the country.

Marco Puente explained that the United States’ tariff policy has impacted cargo movement. “Some companies have stopped requesting services due to the uncertainty it has generated; it affects my clients.”
