For the first time in its 83 years of existence, the National Chamber of the Rubber Industry (CNIH) will be headed by a woman . Adriana Montelongo Jaime was appointed as the new general director of the institution, marking a milestone in the history of the rubber industry in Mexico, according to a press release issued by the CNIH.

Montelongo is an economist who graduated from the University of Guanajuato and holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics . Her academic career also includes training at institutions such as the University of Pittsburgh , CIMAT , CIDE , Banxico-UAM and ITAM .

Juan Pablo Ríos y Valles, president of the CNIH board, said that as a chamber they are convinced that Montelongo’s work and leadership will help position the development actions of the industry , as well as the values ​​of social responsibility, environmental and regulatory compliance before key actors in the country and abroad.

“Adriana’s work will be key to positioning and representing companies from different sectors related to the rubber industry in Mexico,” said Juan Pablo Ríos y Valles Boysselle.

His professional experience spans both the public and private sectors , working in different organizations, including the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) and the Mexican Council of the Consumer Products Industry (ConMéxico) .

In the statement, the CNIH also expressed its recognition of the work of Juan Carlos Tornel , outgoing director general, highlighting his leadership and commitment to the institution in challenging times.
