<p><span dir="auto">After three consecutive months of positive figures, </span><strong><span dir="auto">the manufacturing industry showed a decline in July 2025</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , marked by a monthly decline in three of the four indicators that comprise it.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In the seventh month of the year, the physical volume of  </span><strong><span dir="auto">manufacturing production registered a 2.7% drop</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to last June and also decreased at an annual rate of 1.1%, according to the results of the  </span><strong><span dir="auto">Monthly Survey of the Manufacturing Industry (EMIM)</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , prepared by the  </span><a href="https://www.inegi.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to the agency,  manufacturing </span><strong><span dir="auto">employment</span></strong><span dir="auto">  registered a 0.2% monthly decline in July 2025.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">By type of  </span><strong><span dir="auto">contract</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , non-dependent personnel (those hired and provided by another company and on fees or commissions without a fixed salary or wage) decreased by 2.1%, while personnel dependent on the company decreased by 0.2%.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Hours  </span><strong><span dir="auto">worked</span></strong><span dir="auto">  decreased by 0.2% compared to last June, while  </span><strong><span dir="auto">average real wages paid</span></strong><span dir="auto"> —wages, salaries, and social benefits—recorded an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous month.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">The report indicated that </span><strong><span dir="auto">by subsector, the </span></strong> <strong><span dir="auto">manufacturing of petroleum and coal products</span></strong><span dir="auto">  was the industry that saw the largest annual increase, at 8.2%. This was followed by  </span><strong><span dir="auto">basic metal industries,</span></strong><span dir="auto">  with an annual increase of 4.5%.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">The global economic reconfiguration resulting from the imposition of tariffs has affected the Mexican manufacturing industry.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In the second quarter of 2025, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) captured by Mexico reached a new historical high, with </span><strong><span dir="auto">34.265 billion dollars (mdd)</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , which represented an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period in 2024, when it was 31.096 billion dollars.</span></p>
<p><strong><span dir="auto">Of the total FDI, 36% corresponded to the manufacturing sector</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , which reflects the importance of this industry for the country.</span></p>
