<p><span dir="auto">Amid an economic outlook slowed by US tariff policy, </span><strong><span dir="auto">the Mexican mining and metallurgical industry remained resilient and grew its production by 1.4% month-on-month in September 2025 , the </span></strong><a href="https://www.inegi.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi)</span></a><span dir="auto"> announced on Wednesday  .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In its annual measurement, production registered a positive variation of  </span><strong><span dir="auto">2%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , according to the </span><strong><span dir="auto">Mining and Metallurgical Industry Statistics (EIMM)</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , which provides information on activity in this area in order to generate timely indicators.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">In the ninth month of the year, already at an annual rate, </span><strong><span dir="auto">sulfur</span></strong><span dir="auto">  had an increase in its production of 66.1%;  </span><strong><span dir="auto">gold</span></strong><span dir="auto">  was another of the metals with a significant growth of 12.5 percent.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">During the period,  </span><strong><span dir="auto">lead, silver, gypsum, zinc, non-coking coal</span></strong><span dir="auto">  &#8211; which is used for the generation of electricity &#8211; and </span><strong><span dir="auto">fluorite</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , registered increases of 9.4%, 4.9%, 3.4%, 2.2%, 2.2% and 2.1%, respectively.</span></p>

<p><span dir="auto">By federal entities, </span><strong><span dir="auto">Zacatecas</span></strong><span dir="auto">  stood out in gold production with an annual variation of 16.4%, as well as in silver with 4.1%, lead with 1.4% and zinc with 3.3 percent.</span></p>
<p><strong><span dir="auto">Colima</span></strong><span dir="auto"> stood out in iron production with 3.3%, </span><strong><span dir="auto">Nuevo León</span></strong><span dir="auto"> in sulfur with 11.3% and </span><strong><span dir="auto">San Luis Potosí</span></strong><span dir="auto"> in fluorite with 3.1% in the cycle, indicated Inegi.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Mexico seeks to revive its large-scale mining industry to reposition itself in global competition, in order to manufacture batteries, semiconductors, and other products.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">In that regard, the federal government recently announced a plan to expedite permits and attract capital, seeking to reduce processing times, unify criteria, and modernize processes so that Mexico can once again become competitive in this industry.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">According to estimates from the </span><a href="https://www.camimex.org.mx/"><span dir="auto">Mexican Mining Chamber (Camimex)</span></a><span dir="auto"> , mining investments in the country could reach 5.308 billion dollars in 2025, an amount 4.8% higher compared to 2024.</span></p>
