MONTERREY, NL.– Ford ‘s legacy in commercial vehicles takes them to familiar territory now with the launch of their Ford F-650 and F-750 models, with which they re-enter the heavy vehicle segment , a range in which they did not participate 30 years ago.

Through Ford Pro® , its specialized fleet services unit, it presented these two new models with the aim of motivating organic growth with its current customers and expanding its market spectrum , such as mining, where it did not participate, Guillermo Lastra, director of Ford Pro® for Latin America, explained to T21.

In addition to this application, its entry into segments such as oil & gas, beverages and other segments that require moving weight can also be considered.

“We have the versatility of this product, with a gasoline engine and a gas option (natural gas or LPG). Furthermore, we are seeing a less volatile market, where investments are made long-term and confidence in the products is fundamental; that is where we position our value proposition, in addition to having 30 Ford Pro® dealers to serve fleets,” Lastra added.

At the time of the launch of the F-650 and F-750 models, Ford also announced a strategic change: the unification of its operations in Mexico and South America into a single Commercial Vehicle Division for Latin America , which is led by Guillermo Lastra.

From Lastra’s perspective, the work that Ford Pro® is doing with 30 specialized fleet dealers is their competitive advantage, and these elements, combined with the robustness of their products and vehicle technology, will allow them to differentiate themselves in the market.

The models are equipped with a 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine, which includes a conversion kit for LPG or natural gas . It delivers 335 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, managed by a six-speed TorqShift automatic transmission designed to maximize performance.

The F-650 truck offers a gross vehicle capacity of up to 8,800 kilograms (kg), while the Ford F-750 reaches 10,100 kg, both supported by heavy-duty axle and suspension systems.

To ensure superior versatility in bodywork, these units integrate from the factory a Power Take-Off (PTO) adapter, a 397 amp alternator and specific wheelbases of 242 inches for Ford F-650 and 281 inches for Ford F-750, facilitating any technical adaptation required by the carrier.

“These vehicles have been designed to be a productivity tool and an engineering standard. Through our customer feedback, we know that the market demands three things: power, efficiency, and capability,” said Laura Valdés, Marketing and Sales Director of Ford Mexico.

At the Expo Proveedores del Transporte , Ford launched new solutions for its customers, among the most notable being the Rescue Unit, a mobile service available to attend to unforeseen events directly where the customer needs it.

In addition, there is a logistics system that guarantees the availability of spare parts and a centralized billing system, simplifying administration at the national level.
