Globally, Samsara processes more than 14 trillion data points across all of its current devices and clients. Using this information and supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI), they developed new products, some of which were created based on the needs expressed by users in Mexico .

At Smart Operations 2025 , which brought together Samsara customers and various prospects who are evaluating solutions, new applications or products were presented that are designed to achieve smarter, more protected and secure operations .

Kiren Sekar, Samsara’s Chief Product Officer, explained to Mexican customers how AI, data, and connectivity are being used to reduce risk , improve productivity , and boost profitability .

In the area of ​​operating more securely, Max Rencoret, Samsara’s Vice President of Product and Engineering, presented the technologies developed to protect people , assets, and the supply chain.

Among the launches is the “Samsara Wearable ,” a device developed to protect people. It can generate SOS alerts, detect falls, and track real-time location data, all while also being able to send voice or text messages.

One element that was recognized by Mexican carriers is Max Rencoret’s announcement regarding the satellite connectivity of Samsara equipment, which will enable operational coverage in remote areas, improving visibility beyond the cellular network.

While the asset tracker was unveiled in 2024 , this time a new version was introduced that among its advantages is an extended battery life, which can reach up to two years, thus tracking equipment, tools and machinery in remote or high-risk environments.

Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola, general director of Mexicana Logistics (Mexlog) , shared that thanks to the AT11X his company had a reduction and almost eradication of some components that are used in its operation for the transport of tractor-trailers and new trucks.

Max Rencoret also presented a solution focused on business productivity by addressing the main operating cost: fuel. ” The fuel drop alert allows you to detect and prevent fuel theft and fraud, which, combined with positioning and the camera, allows you to identify these practices.”

Regarding safety, Cristina Sánchez, Samsara’s Sales Engineering Manager, shared the development of the “AI Multi-Camera,” which strengthens road safety and, as shown in a video, allows operators to make blind spots visible, enhancing the environment.

To boost productivity through AI, Samsara introduced improvements to inspection reports , enabling faster, more accurate, and more secure digital inspections, as well as ensuring documentation complies with current regulations.

One factor that stood out was asset maintenance , with automated work orders, AI-powered diagnostics, and reduced asset downtime. “The challenge we face as users is to utilize the full capabilities of the platform to achieve its full potential,” commented one of Samsara’s clients.

As part of Smart Operations 2025, Samsara also unveiled its operator recognition applications, which seek to recognize operators based on compliance with various variables, such as speed limits, fuel efficiency, regulatory compliance, and concentration, among others.

Improvements were also made to the operator app, providing a more efficient tool for safety and routing, and, through the app, a more customizable interface that promotes learning.

MexLog and Paquetexpress received top honors, while Garcia’s Trucking and Grupo Express del Norte were considered finalists in an edition that received a record number of applications globally, according to Samsara.

The awards highlight practices that have enabled companies to optimize routes , reduce incidents , and cut costs  through the use of tools such as telemetry, dashboards, and artificial intelligence monitoring systems.

Asset security

In the Excellence in Asset Security category , MexLog was recognized for establishing a data-driven management model with a direct impact on asset and operator protection.

Founded in Mexicali and specializing in vehicle transport, including more than 150,000 Class 8 trucks annually, the company reported a 33% decrease in theft incidents over the past three years, as well as an 80% reduction in emergency response times. It also successfully recovered 12 vehicles and three operators in a single incident.

At the same ceremony, Felipe Cortez Pérez, a Paquetexpress driver, was honored as the Best Driver in Mexico . With more than 67,000 kilometers traveled and a 95-point safety rating, Cortez was also recently recognized with the National Road Safety Award from the National Association of Private Transportation (ANTP) .

Paquetexpress , whose fleet exceeds 3,500 units, recorded a 40% decrease in accidents nationwide, thanks to the analysis of driving data and the implementation of individualized performance reports.

According to the file submitted, these reports have strengthened the company’s culture of prevention.

Finalists with their own strategies

For its part, Garcia’s Trucking , a family-owned business with three decades of operation, implemented automated alerts to respond to signal inhibitors ( jammers ) and reported a 77% reduction in its accident rate, as well as an increase in asset recovery.

Meanwhile, Grupo Express del Norte , with a presence in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, recovered all of the stolen units and merchandise valued at more than $169,000.

It also reported an 11% reduction in claims costs, which, according to the company, allowed it to reinvest and expand its fleet by 58%.

Awards with international reach

In addition to the Mexican cases, the competition recognized companies from North America and Europe for their progress in sustainability, government performance, and operational efficiency. Winners included Maxim Crane (US), Mohawk Industries (US), and Delifresh (UK), in categories ranging from proactive maintenance to efficient management of institutional fleets.

The 2025 Connected Operations Awards thus offered a snapshot of the trends setting the course for transportation digitalization. In this context, Mexican companies found a space to demonstrate that logistics transformation is also being driven here, with tangible results.
