By 2039, Mercedes-Benz Vans aims to achieve zero emissions within its product portfolio, and where it has intermediate points such as achieving by 2026 that the portfolio is composed of more than 20% of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), while by 2030 it will increase to more than 50 percent.

Along the way, Dominik Amann, general manager of Mercedes-Benz Vans Mexico, announced the actions that are aligned with the firm’s global strategy, and where Mexico is considering integrating the electric version of the Sprinter in 2025: eSprinter.

“Its launch will be next November, we hope that by January 2025 it will be incorporated into the Mexican market, although you will surely see some in tests with various clients beforehand,” Amann commented.

The zero-emission strategy considers not only products, but also includes issues such as materials and logistics, production, energy supply strategy, portfolio and the final cycle of vehicles.

Juan Pablo Vázquez, a specialist in the Mercedes-Benz Vans portfolio, described that the eSprinter will be available in two configurations: the eSprinter Cargo Van and the eSprinter Chassis Cab; in both cases with medium and long versions.

With the larger 113 kWh battery, a range of 440 kilometers can be achieved, while the battery recharge time from 10 to 80% on a DC (direct current) charger would take 42 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 56 kWh batteries can reach 220 kilometers of autonomy, while the 81 kWh battery reaches up to 310 kilometers. Recharging with these configurations would take 28 and 32 minutes, respectively.

Amann shared that in addition to the launch of the eSprinter, the Mercedes-Benz Vans range will be strengthened by the reintegration of the Vito into the portfolio, which had previously been on the Mexican market. It will also be launched in November, and will go on sale in February 2025.

Juan Pablo Vázquez described that the Vito Cargo Van will have an engine that develops a power of 136 hp and a torque of 330 Nm, with a gross vehicle weight of 3.2 tons and 1,237 kilograms of payload, while the payload volume is up to 6.6 cubic meters (m3).

Dominik Amann said that the global strategy of Mercedes-Benz Vans is based on four pillars:

• Target: Focusing on customers who value quality and products, for whom the product range will be extended.
• Embrace the customer. In this case, it is about meeting the needs of customers, based on its MAR20X strategy, with a new Retail of the Future business model, which considers billing customers directly, improving sales processes and controls, with the aim of increasing the quality of service to customers.
• Lead: Aims to be leaders in digital services and technologies, such as the launch of eSprinter 2.0.
• Global: It is the optimization of Mercedes-Benz structure with cost efficiency.

Regarding the strategy for charging stations with the eSprinter, Amann shared that the strategic partner to support customers requiring charging centers is about to be announced.
