Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles México (CAF México) has appointed Arturo Palacios Uribe as its new CEO in the country , replacing Maximiliano Zurita, who concludes his 24-year term at the helm of the company.

“I am honored to join a company with CAF’s track record, commitment, and talent. I assume this responsibility with the conviction to continue contributing to the development of cleaner, more modern, and more efficient mobility for the country,” said the new CEO.

Palacios Uribe holds a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and an MBA from IPADE Business School . He has over 30 years of experience in the development and management of infrastructure projects in the energy, transportation, and regulatory consulting sectors, both in the public and private sectors.

Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself by his leadership, strategic vision, and deep understanding of the country’s regulatory and operational environment.

“With this transition, CAF Mexico begins a new phase of growth, consolidating its role as a key ally in the transformation of rail mobility in Mexico and Latin America, under the values ​​of innovation, sustainability, and excellence that distinguish the company,” the firm said.

The company emphasized in a statement that Mexico has been one of the first and most important markets in CAF’s internationalization process. Since its arrival in the country more than three decades ago , the company has not only made significant strategic investments but has also contributed to the comprehensive development of the national railway infrastructure, promoting the local production of trains and components, as well as the transfer of technology and knowledge.

From Mexico, the company exports trains and mobility solutions to various international markets, which has earned it the “Made in Mexico” label, confirming its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the creation of shared value.

Regarding Maximiliano Zurita, he mentioned that he leaves behind a legacy of sustained growth and leadership in the railway sector.

During his tenure, CAF Mexico participated in landmark projects such as the Mexico City Suburban Train, the Mexico City–Toluca Interurban Train, several vehicle projects for the Mexico City Metro, and the transportation systems of Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Zurita will remain associated with the company as an advisor , contributing his experience, knowledge, and strategic vision to further drive the development of rail transport in the country.
