The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) , through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) , decided to temporarily suspend the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of Magnicharters , after it canceled its scheduled flights for the following two weeks on April 11.

Additionally, given the identified lack of financial capacity, the agency indicated that this could pose a risk to operational safety.

Likewise, the SICT granted the airline a deadline, the length of which was not specified, to present a plan that addresses the findings detected and guarantees compliance with the necessary conditions to operate safely.

The federal agency recalled that in January 2026, the AFAC carried out an administrative technical verification (VTA) to Magnicharters, in accordance with Article 84 of the Civil Aviation Law, in which findings were identified and reported.

“This verification clarified that they complied with all operational safety measures to continue flying; however, they were asked to resolve the financial observations and provide proof of the solutions,” he emphasized.

He indicated that if the required solvency is not demonstrated, the concession title and the AOC will be definitively revoked , which would imply the permanent cessation of its commercial operations.

At the same time, he reiterated that an emergency plan to support passengers in transit remains active , in coordination with airlines, airport groups and the government of Quintana Roo, with the aim of ensuring their timely and safe transfer to their destinations.

According to AFAC statistics, in 2025 Magnicharters (Grupo Aéreo Monterrey) transported 208,583 passengers , a decrease of 4.2% compared to the 217,813 users of 2024.

Similarly, in the first two months of this year, the airline reported transporting 20,558 passengers.

It is worth remembering that on April 11, the company announced through its social media that, due to logistical problems, its flights scheduled for the following two weeks would be cancelled.

“We want to inform our customers that we are addressing this situation with due diligence to resolve it,” the airline said in a brief statement, following the work stoppage that left passengers stranded, mainly at the Cancun airport.
