SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, SLP. – Cummins México sees 2025 as a year of challenges and transformations, with a strategy that combines sustainability, innovation and commitment to consumers and communities in Mexico

Jorge Machuca , leader of the engine segment for Cummins Latin America, anticipated a challenging year after a prosperous 2024.

Machuca noted that the market is expected to return to levels similar to those of 2019 and 2022, with a contraction of approximately 25% compared to the previous year, especially in the first half.

On the other hand, external factors, such as US trade policies , could significantly influence market dynamics, particularly in the second half of the year.

“The policies that can be implemented in the country will determine what happens in the second half of the year,” he said.

However, truck consumption is expected to remain stable amid a recovering economy.

For his part, Gaspar Aguilar , Corporate Functions Coordinator for Cummins Latin America , highlighted that 2024 marked an exceptional year for Cummins , with outstanding achievements in both the commercial and manufacturing sectors.

“Cummins is very pleased with Cummins Mexico commercially for the excellent year we had in 2024, not only in engines, an incredible year, 140 million dollars in the distributor channel in addition to what we have with PACCAR, a great year for Cummins and also in manufacturing,” he said.

In addition, significant investments were consolidated, such as the start of manufacturing of the ISX12 engine and the expansion of capacity for the QSK95 heads, essential for engines used in data centers .

Aguilar also highlighted the implementation of new EPA 2024 treatments at the Juárez plant and the collaboration with Stellantis, strengthening Cummins’ position in the market.

However, he acknowledges that 2025 will bring significant challenges , including market fluctuations and concerns related to announcements by US President Donald Trump.

Commitment after the sale

Cummins implements various processes in its Pilot Center to ensure that everything runs smoothly with the engines. From software to power , specialists can recommend to distributors and users some adaptations that can improve the performance of the unit according to its use, route, weight, etc.

In addition, through the Technical Training Center , which only has two locations – in San Luis Potosí and Brazil – technicians and distributors can become certified and take training to advise users.

Commitment to sustainability and innovation

Cummins remains firm in its global “ Destination Zero ” strategy, focused on sustainable production and environmental neutrality.

In 2025, Gaspar Aguilar assured that two million dollars would be allocated to the plant in San Luis Potosí to implement a water reuse system that will allow it to be neutral in this resource within two years.

“It’s not just about selling a clean product, but about producing it in clean plants,” he added.

In addition, the reuse of components will continue to be a key pillar of the strategy, aligning with the company’s seven sustainability pillars.

Aguilar added that Mexico will continue to be fundamental for Cummins, not only as a strategic point of manufacturing and innovation, but also as a key market in the transition towards cleaner and more responsible technologies.
