The relocation of companies’ production lines ( nearshoring ) and electronic commerce ( e-commerce ) have motivated Kerry Logistics México , one of the main global freight forwarders , to gain momentum and prepare its expansion in the country, with 2025 being the year in which it plans to “land” in more cities, in addition to seeking to have SF International , a Chinese cargo airline and an important player in global air transport, land on Mexican territory. 

“For us, 2025 is the key year. We have been with Kerry for 10 years now and we are a company that has been growing well organizationally, but this year with nearshoring it has had a very strong effect and being of Chinese origin forces us to have greater responsibilities and presence in the markets,” says Alejandro González, the company’s general manager in the country. 

He also noted that Mexico has become one of the main platforms for e-commerce worldwide, with the COVID-19 pandemic catapulting the country, and that a large part of the planes are coming with cargo from Asia to meet the demand of the main marketplaces (online markets). 

For this reason, he said that Kerry Logistics plans to have a distribution centre. “Yes, we will have one, we are already working on it. In 2025 we are going to develop our own warehouses in a larger way and distribution centres, and not just one, but several.” 

He also said that they are “preparing the foundations” to operate their cargo planes in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. 

Raquel Haj, the company’s director of Air and Maritime Operations, explains that, in this regard, they are working with airlines, airports such as Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) , and distribution centers, as well as having local transportation to access the airports and carry out delivery maneuvers .
