Oaxaca (13.5%), Quintana Roo (8.9%) and Baja California Sur (5.9%) were the Mexican states that showed the best performance in their industrial activity in February 2026 compared to last January, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) announced  .

According to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) —which provides information on the behavior of industrial activity in the states—, Sonora and Nayarit also stood out in their industries during the period.

Conversely, the states that reported the largest drops in the second month of the year compared to January 2026 were Veracruz with a drop of 3.7%, Guerrero with a decrease of 3.5% and Morelos with a decline of 2.8 percent.

In its annual measurement, the entities where industrial activity showed the greatest progress were Hidalgo, Colima and Tamaulipas, with 20.7%, 15% and 14%, respectively, during February 2026.

The states with the largest year-on-year declines in their industrial activity were Quintana Roo with 23.7%, Morelos with 12.5%, and Durango with 10.6%.

Industrial activity by sector

In February 2026,  manufacturing industries  showed significant progress in Tabasco, Hidalgo and Puebla at an annual rate.

In  construction , the largest increases occurred in the State of Mexico, Colima, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Tamaulipas and Nayarit.

The  mining sector  registered increases in Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Chiapas, Veracruz and Yucatan.

In the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the end consumer,  the increases in Nayarit, Durango, Chiapas, Colima, Querétaro and Campeche stood out at an annual rate.

Industrial performance in some Mexican states has shown progress, although the country faces a complex economic situation stemming from global tariff uncertainty.

This is compounded by a slowdown in the Mexican economy, which has paused investments and infrastructure projects in the country.

Industrial activity in Mexico slowed in 22 federal entities during December 2025, while the remaining 10 showed better performance, with Quintana Roo, Colima and Campeche standing out, with 19.8%, 6.2% and 5.1%  monthly increases, respectively, according to the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

This increase in Colima and Campeche was related to the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the end consumer; while in Quintana Roo it was driven by construction and mining.

According to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) – which provides information on the behavior of industrial activity in the states – Tamaulipas, Querétaro, State of Mexico and Veracruz also stood out in their industries during the period at a monthly rate.

Meanwhile, the states that reported the largest drops last December compared to November 2025 were Baja California Sur with 11.2%, Oaxaca with 7% and Hidalgo with 5.8 percent.

In its annual measurement, the entities where industrial activity showed  the greatest progress  were Colima, Hidalgo and Sinaloa with 18.8%, 16.4% and 13.3%, respectively, in the last month of 2025.

Conversely, the states that experienced the greatest decrease  in their industrial activity on an annual basis were Quintana Roo with 18.4%, Nayarit with 9.2%, and Campeche with 8%.

These decreases resulted from a drop in mining in Quintana Roo and Nayarit, and in construction in Campeche in the annual measurement.

Progress by sector 

In December 2025, manufacturing industries showed significant progress in Tabasco, Sonora, Oaxaca and Hidalgo at an annual rate.

In  construction , the largest increases occurred in Jalisco, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Colima, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Sinaloa and the State of Mexico.

The  mining sector  registered increases in Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Veracruz, Chiapas and Yucatan.

In the  generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the end consumer,  the increases stood out in Campeche, Durango, Sinaloa, Chiapas, Tlaxcala and Colima.

The results of industrial activity in Mexico show a dynamic and mixed behavior, with states like Quintana Roo leading industrial growth, while entities like Baja California Sur and Oaxaca faced significant setbacks in their productive activity at the close of 2025.

However, industrial activity continues to be a topic of interest for investors and economic sectors, reflecting the opportunities and challenges that the country has in this area.

Mexican industrial activity registered a drop of 1.1% during January 2026 compared to December 2025, according to information released this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

According to figures from the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI), which allows us to know and monitor the evolution of industrial activity in Mexico, industrial operations also declined in their annual measurement, showing a contraction of 0.1% in the reference month.

During the period, declines were recorded in all four components that make up the IMAI, with the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the final consumer showing the greatest decline, with a drop of 1.9% on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, mining, construction, and manufacturing industries each declined by 1.1% compared to December 2025.

On an annual basis, three of the four components of the IMAI registered increases . The construction sector advanced 5%, and mining 1%. Generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas via pipelines to the end consumer rose 0.6%.

Manufacturing industries was the only activity that declined at an annual rate, with a decrease of 1.7% in the period.

According to an analysis by Grupo Financiero Ve por Más (BX+) , Mexican industrial activity experienced its first monthly decline in four observations and the largest since December 2024.

He explained that, with original figures and annual rate, the indicator returned to negative territory after a respite in December, adding nine contractions in the last 10 readings.

“Although some sluggishness may persist for the remainder of the first quarter of 2026, we anticipate that it will subsequently regain some traction,” the institution emphasized.

In November 2025, the states of Hidalgo, Quintana Roo, and Veracruz showed better performance in their industrial activity compared to other federal entities in Mexico, with monthly increases of 14.4%, 8.7%, and 4.7% , respectively, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) announced on Tuesday .

Nuevo León, Chiapas and Aguascalientes were also among the states that stood out in their industrial activity during the period, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) .

Conversely, the states that reported the largest declines last November compared to October 2025 were Nayarit with a decrease of 14.4%, Guanajuato with a decrease of 3.8%, and Michoacán with a slowdown of 2.4%.

On an annual basis, the entities where industrial activity showed the greatest progress were Hidalgo with 30.3%, Baja California Sur with 15.9% and Sinaloa with 13.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the states that saw the greatest decrease in their industrial activity were Quintana Roo with 30.3%, Campeche with 15.5%, and Coahuila with 10.6% annually.

Regarding activity by sector, Tabasco, Hidalgo, and Oaxaca had significant progress in the manufacturing industries sector  in their annual measurement during November 2025.

In construction , the largest increases occurred in Jalisco, Sinaloa, Aguascalientes, Nuevo León, Hidalgo and Baja California Sur.

The mining industry registered notable increases in Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Chiapas, Sinaloa and Veracruz.

In the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the end consumer , the increases stood out in Querétaro, Tlaxcala, Chiapas, Sinaloa, Nayarit and Oaxaca.

Industrial performance in some Mexican states has been positive, despite the complex economic situation triggered by global tariff uncertainty; however, the country remains attractive to foreign capital, which invests in Mexican industry.

Due to an increase in the construction sector, industrial activity in Mexico showed a slight advance of 0.2% in December 2025 compared to last November, according to information released this Wednesday by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

On an annual basis, the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI) also registered a positive trend, with an increase of 1.5% in the last month of last year.

According to Inegi, the IMAI allows for understanding and monitoring the evolution of industrial activity in Mexico.

According to the December 2025 figures,  three of the four components of the IMAI (Monthly Index of Industrial Activity) performed positively , with  construction registering the greatest growth, rising 1.2% compared to the previous November. This increase stemmed from progress in infrastructure projects, primarily the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

Meanwhile, the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity, as well as the supply of water and natural gas via pipelines to the end consumer, increased by 0.7% month-on-month. Mining saw a monthly increase of 0.5%.

Manufacturing industries was the only component that declined, showing a decrease of 0.1% during December 2025 compared to last November.

In its annual reading , construction advanced 6.8%; and generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipelines to the final consumer, increased 3.9% in the last month of 2025.

Mining showed an increase of 0.5%; and manufacturing industries registered an increase of 0.1% year-on-year.

According to specialists, 2026 will be a year of challenges and opportunities for Mexican industry, which will continue to navigate external risks, such as tariffs, and internal risks, such as a volatile economy.

With increases of 36.6%, 11.6% and 10.2%, Oaxaca, Colima and Nayarit , respectively, were the federal entities that registered the greatest growth in their industrial activity, on a monthly basis, during October 2025, according to results from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

The increase in Oaxaca resulted from the progress in infrastructure works, mainly the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF).

In addition to the aforementioned states, Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur also showed progress in their industrial activity in October 2025 compared to last September.

Conversely, the states that reported the largest declines in the tenth month of last year on a monthly basis were Aguascalientes with 7.5%, Veracruz with 5% and Tamaulipas with 2.9 percent.

On an annual basis , the entities where industrial activity showed the greatest progress were Nayarit with 21.8%, Baja California Sur with 18.5% and Sinaloa with an increase of 11.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the states that saw the greatest decrease in industrial activity were Quintana Roo with a drop of 35.1%, Campeche with 15.7%, and Coahuila with 7.2% annually.

Regarding activity by sector, Tabasco, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí showed significant progress in manufacturing industries , in their annual measurement during October 2025.

In  construction , the largest year-on-year increases occurred in Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Colima, and Guerrero.

The  mining industry  registered increases in Chiapas, State of Mexico, Sinaloa and Veracruz at an annual rate.

In the  generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity, water supply and natural gas by pipeline to the end consumer , the increases in Nayarit, Chiapas, Puebla, Querétaro, Durango and Michoacán stood out in their annual measurement.

Despite the complex economic situation triggered by tariff uncertainty worldwide, some entities in Mexico have had a positive industrial performance.

By 2026, nearshoring (relocation of production lines) is expected to continue to be one of the driving forces behind Mexican industry , along with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which reached $40.906 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Manufacturing accounted for 37.1 percent of this total  .
