Last July, the National Association of Trailer and Equipment Manufacturers (ANFRE) was launched , where among its objectives is to give visibility to the market by generating statistics for the sector, also to review the impact and composition of trailer imports , with the effect on the national industry.

In its first report corresponding to last June, based on data from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) , ANFRE announced that the total registration of trailers in the accumulated to the reference cycle was 1,578 units , where it is highlighted that 10 brands concentrate 50.8% of the total.

ANFRE, led by Margarita Alcántara, announced that of the total number of trailers registered in 2026, 46% corresponded to the 2026 model year and 54% to 2027.

Meanwhile, of the total number of vehicles registered in the period up to June 2026, 35% corresponded to large companies, concentrating the largest volume.

Imports “disrupt” the market

The analysis carried out by ANFRE identified that also in the accumulated to June 2026, imported trailers totaled two thousand 262 units, this represented 1.3x (times) the registration reported by the SICT.

Based on information from the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), of the total of 2,262 units, the majority, 2,048 trailers or semi-trailers intended for the transport of goods; 46 tankers and 10 modular platforms with directional axles and their hydraulic or mechanical complements.

ANFRE generated data that reveals the impact that the importation of trailers can have on the market, it is the distribution according to the unit price, and based on ANAM data, 75% corresponded to equipment less than 10 thousand dollars.

At the same time, it was identified that based on the model years of the imported vehicles, 462 correspond to units that are more than 10 years old, this within a total of 573 units that registered the model year, because 1,689 were not identified with the model year.
