As a result of improved performance in the services sector —which includes activities such as transportation and storage—, Mexican economic activity would have grown in July 2026.

The Timely Indicator of Economic Activity (IOAE), prepared by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) , anticipated an  annual increase of 2.7%  in Mexican economic activity in the seventh month of the year.

In its monthly measurement, the indicator would also have shown a positive figure, registering an increase of 0.1%  last July.

This rebound signals a  moderate economic expansion in Mexico , coupled with a slowdown in inflation, which in July 2026 stood at 3.12% compared to its annual comparison.

According to the Inegi report, by economic activity groups, an annual increase of 1.8% is expected in  secondary activities —manufacturing and construction—.

In  tertiary activities , which include services such as commerce, transport and storage, communications, education and health, an increase of 2.8% per year is estimated.

By July 2026, the IOAE projected an annual growth of 2.7% in the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) .

On a monthly basis, the IGAE, as well as secondary and tertiary activities, are expected to register an increase of 0.1% by July 2026.

The IOAE estimate for the seventh month of the year shows a positive performance of secondary and tertiary activities in Mexico, both on a monthly and annual basis, which, if it materializes, would mean a respite for the Mexican economy, since it would begin the third quarter of the year with slight growth.

The IOAE is a statistical tool that allows anticipating the behavior of the IGAE, as well as secondary and tertiary activities, up to five weeks in advance, according to Inegi.

Mexico’s transport, postal and storage sector stood at  116.7 points in May 2026, an increase of 0.3%  compared to last April , according to the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE), carried out by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

On an annual basis, the country’s logistics industry also showed positive performance, registering a 0.6% increase in its economic activity.

With these figures, the IGAE in the logistics sector showed a better performance than in April 2016, when it had a monthly growth of 0.1% and a drop of 0.2% in its annual measurement.

In general terms,  in the fifth month of 2026, the IGAE fell 0.3% on a monthly basis , although on an annual basis it increased 2% to stand at 107 points.

The monthly result of the IGAE in May marked the second decline of this indicator in the year.

Within the IGAE (Global Indicator of Economic Activity), primary activities  —agriculture and livestock—fell by 0.5 percent.  Secondary  activities—manufacturing and construction—declined by 0.8 percent. Conversely, tertiary activities—services such as transportation, postal services, and warehousing—increased by 0.2 percent in May 2026 compared to the previous April.

In its annual measurement, primary activities grew 7.7%, tertiary activities increased 2.6%, while secondary activities showed no variation, representing stagnation.

The IGAE allows us to understand and monitor the evolution of the real sector of the economy in the short term, so its measurement is key for economic decision-making.

Furthermore, it estimates the growth or contraction of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as detecting the behavior of the productive sectors, which offers an overview of the Mexican economy and its impact on the finances of companies.

In April 2026, Mexico’s transport, postal and storage sector stood at 116.1 points , which meant a slight growth of 0.1% compared to last March, according to the results of the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE), prepared by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

Conversely, in its annual measurement, the  country’s logistics industry  , which is part of the tertiary activities, registered a drop of 0.2 percent .

The IGAE in the logistics sector in April showed mixed results, reflecting an industry undergoing readjustments, stemming from the global business environment and a slowing Mexican economy.

Meanwhile, in general terms, the country’s Global Indicator of Economic Activity advanced 1.2% on a monthly basis in the fourth month of 2026, while on an annual basis it increased 2.2% to stand at 106.9 points.

Within the IGAE (Global Indicator of Economic Activity), primary activities —such as agriculture and livestock—fell 0.4% month-on-month. Secondary activities—manufacturing and construction—increased 2.1% in April 2026 compared to the previous March.

Tertiary activities ,  which involve the service sector, advanced 0.7% on a monthly basis.

At an annual rate, primary activities grew 4.7%, secondary activities 1.8% and tertiary activities 2.4% in the reference period.

According to the results from last April, Mexican economic activity registered increases both monthly and annually; however, analysts are cautiously reviewing these data, as uncertainty persists due to various factors such as the protectionist trade policy of the United States and the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) .

According to Inegi, the IGAE allows one to know and monitor the evolution of the real sector of the economy in the short term.

Mexican economic activity is expected to have shown positive performance in both its monthly and annual measurements in April 2026, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

According to the Timely Indicator of Economic Activity (IOAE), the country’s economic activity grew by 0.3% in the fourth month of the year compared to March. The IOAE estimated an annual increase of 0.3%.

By economic activity groups, an annual decrease of 1% is expected by April 2026 in secondary activities (manufacturing and construction), and an increase of 0.7% in tertiary activities (trade, transport and storage, communications, education and health).

According to Inegi, the Timely Indicator of Economic Activity allows for timely econometric estimates on the evolution of the IGAE, as well as secondary and tertiary activities.

On a monthly basis, a 0.3% increase is anticipated in the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE). A 0.3% increase is projected for secondary activities and a 0.3% increase for tertiary activities in April of this year.

According to estimates from Grupo Financiero BASE , Mexico could have an economic growth of just 1% in 2026 , reflecting a sluggish economic environment.

According to CIAL Dun & Bradstreet , the Mexican economy needs to strengthen investment and productivity to counteract industrial fragility and take advantage of international trade opportunities.

In 2025, Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 0.8% compared to 2024 , according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi)  released this Monday.

Meanwhile, in the October-December period of last year, with seasonally adjusted figures, GDP registered an increase of 0.9% on a quarterly basis and 1.8% on an annual basis in real terms.

This adjustment showed slight variations with the timely estimate projected by Inegi on January 30, in which it had estimated a quarterly increase of 0.8% and an annual increase of 1.6% for the Mexican economy in the fourth quarter of 2025 (4Q25).

By component, the quarterly performance was as follows: the GDP of secondary activities – made up of manufacturing and construction – as well as that of tertiary activities – such as transport, postal and storage services – advanced 0.9 percent .

Meanwhile, the Gross Domestic Product of primary activities, such as agriculture and livestock, fell 1.4% quarter-on-quarter in Q4 2025, according to statistics from Inegi.

At an annual rate, primary activities increased 7.8%, tertiary activities 2.1%, and secondary activities 0.3% in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2025.

IGAE logistics industry closes 2025 with progress

In December 2025, Mexican economic activity accelerated 0.4% month-on-month , according to the  Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) of Inegi, driven mainly by primary activities, such as agriculture.

On an annual basis, the IGAE registered a growth of 2.4% in the reference period.

During the cycle, primary activities advanced 6.5%, and secondary and tertiary activities each increased 0.2%, on a monthly basis. On an annual basis, primary activities increased 11.7%, tertiary activities 2.2%, and secondary activities 1.5%.

The transportation, postal, and warehousing sector saw a 1.5% increase  in December 2025 compared to the previous November. In its annual measurement,  Mexico’s logistics industry also showed positive figures, with 2%  growth   in activity, according to the IGAE (Global Indicator of Economic Activity).

According to the consulting firm KPMG , among the challenges that the Mexican economy will face by 2026 is managing the uncertainty derived from the review of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA) , in a context of geopolitical tensions that could affect economic growth, put pressure on inflation and limit the benefits of nearshoring (relocation of production lines).

Meanwhile, in the penultimate month of 2025, the IGAE fell 0.2% on a monthly basis, although on an annual basis it increased 1.1%, to stand at 105.6 points .

The IGAE allows us to understand and monitor the evolution of the real sector of the economy in the short term, so its measurement is key for economic decision-making.

Within this indicator, primary activities , such as agriculture and livestock, fell by 7%, while secondary  activities – manufacturing and construction – increased by 0.6% monthly.

Tertiary activities ,  which involve the service sector, declined by 0.4% in November 2025 compared to last October.

Meanwhile, on an annual basis, primary activities grew 2.9%, tertiary activities 1.5%, while secondary activities decreased 0.1 percent.

The contraction shown in the logistics sector, both monthly and annually, during November 2025, indicates a slight slowdown in this industry that impacts the growth of the IGAE.

For the Mexican economy, this means less movement of goods and a possible reduction in demand for intermediate and final goods.

Driven by growth in primary, secondary, and tertiary activities on a monthly basis, the Mexican economy showed a rebound both monthly and annually in October 2025.

In the tenth month of 2025, Mexican economic activity increased by 1% compared to September 2024 , which meant the highest growth rate so far this year, according to the  Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) , prepared by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

In its annual measurement, this indicator registered a rise of 1.6 percent . The IGAE, which allows for monitoring and tracking the evolution of the real sector of the economy in the short term, stood at a level of 105.6 points.

By component, primary activities , which include agriculture and livestock, increased by 1.4%; while  secondary activities , which include manufacturing and construction, also increased by 0.7% monthly.

Meanwhile,  tertiary activities , which involve services – including the  transport, postal and storage sectors – registered an increase of 1.2% in October 2025 compared to last September.

On an annual basis, primary activities grew 11.8%, secondary activities decreased 0.7%, and tertiary activities increased 2.5%.

The transportation, postal, and warehousing sector grew 0.9% compared to last September . In its annual measurement,  Mexico’s logistics industry  also showed positive figures, with a  1.9% increase  in economic activity, according to the IGAE (Global Indicator of Economic Activity).

The increase in economic activity in Mexico gives positive signs in this area, in a trade environment framed by tariff uncertainty.

Manufacturing activity expected to decline in November

Amid the protectionist trade policy of the United States, Mexican manufacturing activity would have experienced an annual decline in November 2025, according to data from the Monthly Indicator of Manufacturing Activity (IMOAM) .

The report, prepared by Inegi, anticipated a drop of 1.8%  compared to the same month last year.

In the penultimate month of the year, the IMOAM registered a value of  104.9 points , as an advance calculation of this indicator.

Due to zero growth in the manufacturing sector, Mexican economic activity would have stagnated in October 2025, following the decline observed last September.

The  Timely Indicator of Economic Activity (IOAE) , prepared by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) , anticipated that there were no changes in Mexican economic activity in the tenth month of the year, both on a monthly and annual basis.

By economic activity groups , an annual decrease of 2.1% is expected in secondary activities – made up of manufacturing and construction – and an increase of 0.9% in tertiary activities, which include services such as trade, transport and storage, communications, education and health.

In its monthly measurement, the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) also remains unchanged. A 0.1% increase is projected for secondary activities, while a 0.2% decrease is expected for tertiary activities in October of this year.

The stagnation of the Mexican economy in October occurred in a context of constant tariff changes worldwide; however, projections from international organizations, such as the World Bank , have improved the growth estimate for Mexico.

According to the organization’s forecasts, the Mexican economy would grow by 0.5% in 2025, driven by domestic consumption.

“The IOAE is a statistical tool that allows us to anticipate the behavior of the IGAE, as well as secondary and tertiary activities, up to five weeks in advance,” according to Inegi.

Mexico’s logistics industry also   showed positive annual performance, registering a  0.3% increase  in activity, according to the IGAE results.

The IGAE (National Institute of Statistics and Census) allows for the identification and monitoring of short-term developments in the real sector of the economy, according to INEGI.

In the eighth month of the year, this indicator grew by 0.6% monthly, while the annual rate remained unchanged at 105.1 points.

Within the IGAE,  primary activities , such as agriculture and livestock, grew 14.5%, while  secondary activities , which include manufacturing and construction, fell 0.3% monthly.

Tertiary activities ,  which involve the services sector, registered a 0.5% increase in August 2025 compared to last July.

On an annual basis, primary activities increased by 15.3%, secondary activities fell by 2.7%, and tertiary activities grew by 0.8%.

Despite the economic restructuring resulting from tariffs around the world, the slight rebound achieved last August signals a moderate improvement in the Mexican economy, driven by activities such as agriculture and services, which showed monthly growth .

With the August result, the IGAE recorded an increase compared to July 2025, when it fell 0.9% monthly and decreased 1.2% annually.

By economic activity group , a 3% annual decline is expected  in secondary industries , which include manufacturing and construction.

In  tertiary activities , which include services such as trade,  transportation and storage , communications, education and health, an  annual growth of 0.8% is estimated .

Inegi also anticipated an annual decrease of 0.6% in the IGAE for September .

On a monthly basis, a 0.1% increase was projected in the IGAE , as well as in secondary and tertiary activities for the reference month.

The decline in the country’s economic activity last September shows signs of a contraction in the performance of key sectors such as manufacturing, which has been affected by a drop in external demand amid an aggressive tariff policy.
