The  National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) reported that the pilot tests of the Electronic Customs Identification Badge (GEIA)  at the customs offices of  Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) ,  Mexico City International Airport (AICM) ,  Querétaro  and  Tijuana were “successfully concluded.” Therefore, since last November 18, this scheme has been released nationwide for all customs offices in the country.

The customs authority recalled through a statement that on October 30, they began the tests of the activation process of the Automated Selection Mechanism (MSA) of foreign trade operations in the automated lanes of Operational Continuity of Cargo Vehicles (Coveca) in referred areas through the RFID reading of the GEIA, which replaces the Unique Identification Badge (GUI) .

In view of this, he urged  all foreign trade users who provide their services or carry out activities within fiscal or inspected areas to process it .

In this regard, ANAM reiterated the procedure to be followed by foreign trade users who choose to carry out their operations under this new scheme, which is as follows:

1. When generating the Customs Clearance Operation Document (DODA), enter the ANAM portal https://anam.gob.mx and choose the “Cargo” option, then select the “DODA QR/PITA” section and finally select the “DODA QR/PITA Generation” option , in the field referring to “Single Badge Number” , or, if generated via Web Service in the tag corresponding to “numeroGafeteUnico” , the 24-character GEIA number must be declared.

2. Before appearing in the Coveca automated lanes, the operation must be activated in the Activa NI application , either through .apk or WEB Activa NI (a link with a guide and access is sent for quick reference – https://anam.gob.mx/activa-ni-web/ ).
3. The operator will be present in the Coveca lane with his GEIA . In case the operator also has the GUI, he must move it away from the RFID antenna to avoid incorrect readings.
4. Wait for the MSA result on the automated lane screen.

ANAM specified that it is important that the 24-character GEIA number can be identified as a chip number.

“In the event that the Carrier does not have the GElA to carry out operations, they may continue using their GUI, as they do currently, regardless of the validity of the latter,” the agency stated and indicated that new users who process and have the GEIA must go to the customs offices where they operate to have their registration in the local SCAAA carried out.

It is worth remembering that the new badge has been planned to be implemented since last year, but due to the lack of resources necessary to support all the requests, pilot tests have only just begun.
