GUADALAJARA, JAL.- With the exhibition of 19 vehicles at Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , and the presentation of the Galaxus tractor-trailer and the View Grand van , Foton Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to the country, basing its strategy on investment in new energies, innovation in design, and the strengthening of alliances

Francisco Chávez, CEO of Foton Mexico, highlighted the brand’s global strength, with 29 years of history and 11 million units sold. This strength translates into a manufacturing expansion plan with the upcoming opening of a plant in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, scheduled for January 2026.

This new facility will not only increase production capacity to 1,000 units per month, but will also focus on manufacturing “Made in Mexico” vehicles, including light electric and last-mile delivery vehicles, Chávez indicated.

Foton strengthened its presence with a strategic alliance with Motor Nation. This collaboration will add 26 dealerships to its network, reaching a total of 55 points of sale nationwide, and will initially focus on the marketing of pickups and vans .

At Expo Transporte , company executives presented the Galaxus tractor-trailer and the View Grand passenger van, both designed to optimize comfort, safety, and operational performance.

The Galaxus is presented as the brand’s spearhead in the heavy transport segment. Following its official global launch, this model arrives with the promise of redefining efficiency in long-distance transport, with a cutting-edge design focused on aerodynamics

The Galaxus’s performance is backed by its aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.348, which places this unit among the tractor-trailers offering the best aerodynamic coefficient on the market, translating into better fuel efficiency for the carrier, vital for fleet profitability. Foton’s confidence in the Galaxus is absolute, projecting that the model will position itself in the top 3 of the Mexican market within the next two years, highlighted Pablo Torrejón, Commercial Director of Foton Mexico.

In the passenger and light cargo segment, the View Grand was unveiled as a completely redesigned unit. This vehicle focuses on operator comfort and safety, along with range and “Made in Mexico” manufacturing quality

The unit will be offered with a diesel engine and, as a significant first in the segment, with the option of integrating an automatic transmission. This configuration aims to optimize the driving experience and operational performance.

With both units, Foton seeks to strengthen its presence in the Mexican market in the heavy-duty and passenger segments.

Resilient Market

In terms of sales results, the brand has remained resilient. Despite a market decline of approximately 30% in the tractor-trailer segment, Foton has managed to maintain double-digit growth. Specifically in the Heavy Duty segment , it reported cumulative growth of nearly 250%, Torrejón noted.

Finally, the brand’s strategy is based on robust after-sales support, emphasized Sergio Chavarría, After-Sales Director of Foton Mexico, who highlighted the importance of the roadside assistance provided by the company, which helps its customers “have the confidence that wherever they are, we will arrive with our technical team.”

With an 11,000 square meter (m²) spare parts warehouse in Querétaro and a 24/7 roadside assistance service year-round, complemented by a telemetry system for fleet management and preventive maintenance, Foton seeks to guarantee the profitability and confidence of its customers.

Telematics is a tool that enables a smooth transition and optimization of electric fleets , as well as cost reduction, experts agreed during the webinar  Fleets of the Future: The Path to Sustainable Mobility, organized by Latam Mobility Mexico .

Andree Robles, Commercial and After-Sales Manager for Electric Vehicles and New Energy at Foton Mexico , said that telematics is the backbone of intelligent fleet management, as it enables the real-time compilation of critical information on vehicle performance.

It also enables fleet management, route optimization, maintenance scheduling, greater operational safety, and cost reduction, as well as more sustainable operations.

“We manage five types of energy: internal combustion engines, diesel, natural gas, gasoline, electric vehicles, and hydrogen. We’ve been working with our own telemetry for years, and thanks to the integration of big data, machine learning, and even our Artificial Intelligence (AI), we’ve been able to transform telematics data into automated, strategic decisions,” he emphasized.

He explained that his telemetry was divided into two, one for operational and security issues .

Meanwhile, Francisco Chávez, Transportation Business Development Manager at Dahua Technology Mexico , added that telematics promotes efficient driving through operator analytics, helping to reduce braking, indirect emissions, and regulatory compliance, among other things.

“If we don’t have that data from the devices and all the intelligence, we won’t be able to take measures to improve transportation and routes,” he explained.

Luis Parra, Regional Sales Manager at Motive , commented that having data on energy consumption, as well as the driving style of operators, among other issues, allows us to identify who is doing well, which routes are profitable, which are safe or not, and to extend the useful life of the fleets .

“Adapting a traditional fleet to an electric one can increase costs by up to 114%, but we’ve seen numerous cases of total operating cost reduction, and in Mexico it’s between 20% and 30%. This is linked to operational efficiencies, visibility, and a reduction in safety incidents,” he emphasized.

El cargo What benefits does telematics offer for fleet management? apareció primero en T21.

Foton Mexico delivered the first representative units of the S35 model to Acua Grupo Transportista , as part of an agreement that seeks to strengthen the company’s logistics operations , both companies reported in a press release.

The S35 model is equipped with a  12-liter, 345-horsepower Cummins engine , among other features. It also features a 16-speed ZF manual transmission with a double H-shaped transmission.

The statement also stated that each unit has a load capacity of up to 28,500 kilograms (kg), a dry cargo bed, and an access ramp.

 

 

During the delivery ceremony, Israel Acevedo, director of heavy-duty tractors at Foton, highlighted the working relationship he has established with Acua Grupo, in an effort to generate sustainable operating results.

“This delivery symbolizes more than the integration of new vehicles: it’s the beginning of a relationship of
trust and sustainable results,” Acevedo said.

The operation involved Camiones Metropolitanos Grupo Ruano , an authorized Foton distributor, led by Fernando Ruano, as well as LDR Solution , the brand’s official representative in Mexico.

The Chinese firm FOTON, represented in Mexico by  LDR Solutions , announced that it added a new distributor in the country, in the Toluca area, through Astrocamiones , which now has 24 distributors in the national territory.

“We welcome Astrocamiones as an integral part of our team. “This partnership represents a significant step in our mission to strengthen and expand our reach in the market,” FOTON announced in a statement.

Astrocamiones was established on September 20, 2000, throughout its history it has had a presence in the State of Mexico and Mexico City, as well as surrounding municipalities. Currently, it has a staff of 50 collaborators.

Over the course of these almost 24 years, Astrocamiones has placed more than 14 thousand units in the Mexican market.

“We feel privileged to add Astrocamiones to the FOTON family and we are very excited about the opportunities for collaboration and integration that this new strategic business partnership offers. This agency will be located at Carretera México Toluca Km 50.5, Col. La Estación, cp 52006, Lerma, State of Mexico,” stated the FOTON statement.

According to the subsidiary of LDR Solutions, FOTON México, the expansion strengthens its network of distributors, and allows it to offer transportation solutions to its clients throughout the country.

Prior to being a FOTON distributor, Astrocamiones was a  Daimler Truck México  and  Mercedes-Benz Autobuses.
