That was the line set by Juan Carlos Uribe, general manager of TTM , and Eduardo Herrera, vice president of Exports of Mack Trucks: “The expectation is not focused on ‘selling units’, but on building a solid base.”

Furthermore, Uribe was emphatic: the strategy toward 2030 and the immediate goals—including 2026—are progressing steadily . He explained that the company is selecting clients whose routes are covered by the current network and mobile services.

“Selling trucks without being able to service them is a practice we want to avoid; that’s why we target specific clients and move forward steadily,” Uribe stated. He also added that customer trust is the most important asset, because “when a customer speaks ill of you, you’re out.”

Herrera added that the strategy doesn’t aim for immediate peaks, but rather a coherent expansion: “It’s not about adding more and more trucks, but about having well-supported trucks. The plan is aligned through 2030 and is progressing responsibly,” he stated.

Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025, a turning point for Mack

Uribe highlighted that Expo Transporte was the ideal showcase to demonstrate that years of work —plant, new products, coverage and support— is beginning to bear visible fruit for carriers.

The event was the perfect setting to celebrate the brand’s 125th anniversary with the launch of the Mack Anthem® , a completely redesigned truck that offers up to 10% more fuel efficiency than its predecessor, greater operator comfort, and an aerodynamic architecture that redefines long-haul transport standards.

The model stands out for:

Better fuel efficiency.

Greater maneuverability.

Improved vision and safety.

A level of comfort that —according to Herrera— surpasses even the European standard, with a spacious cabin, standing room and a cabin for two people.

“That truck has as much or better comfort than any European truck,” Herrera commented.

Coverage, branches and presence

TTM and Mack acknowledged that the product alone is not enough; the key lies in the network that supports it. Uribe explained that the expansion is concentrated in “the states that produce 80% or 90% of Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” which implies new branches, more service bays, more technical staff, and coverage on strategic routes.

A critical element in the strategy is the new plant in Monterrey, Nuevo León , a key piece for expansion in Mexico and Latin America. Herrera indicated that the facility will begin operations in 2026, but will not reach full capacity until 2027.

The facility was specifically designed to strengthen Mack’s competitiveness in Mexico and Latin America, as well as produce units for the United States (both for Mack and Volvo), although those destined for the Mexican market will be exclusively Mack.

Mexico, a larger market than Canada

Herrera also emphasized the country’s importance to the global strategy: “The Mexican market is larger than the Canadian market.” He noted that the brand is seeing growing interest from the United States in TTM’s performance in the country.

Global executive Rich Million, SVP Strategy and Business Development at Mack, attended Expo Transporte precisely because of the high strategic value that Mexico represents for the brand: “We see TTM as the right strategic partner and we are on the right track with them,” Herrera assured.

Both Mack and TTM emphasized that everything depends on customer trust in the brand, the factory’s trust in the distributor, and the trust they both seek to build for the coming years. “This is a very serious business; we’re not going to get carried away. We’re going to build step by step, firmly and responsibly,” Herrera stated.

GUADALAJARA, JAL. – Artificial Intelligence (AI) has dominated speeches and panels in recent years. However, for Tecnomotum , its value lies not in the trend, but in its practical application within freight transportation , an industry where every operational decision influences safety, costs, and business continuity.

That was the premise that the company presented at Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , along with a key message: AI only generates results when fleets adopt it and integrate it into their daily operations .

ANIA: The AI that processes millions of data points in seconds

During his conference, Carlos Cota , Vice President of Revenue at Tecnomotum, explained how the industry has moved from traditional tracking systems to operational intelligence models, where data must be processed in real time.

“A customer with a thousand trucks generated a million alerts a month. It’s humanly impossible to handle them all. AI should help us filter that information and act only on what’s truly relevant,” he said.

With that challenge as a starting point, Tecnomotum developed ANIA , its artificial intelligence neural agent, capable of correlating information, analyzing operational patterns, detecting anomalies and activating automatic actions such as engine stops, route redefinition or activation of security protocols.

Beyond hardware : adoption as the true differentiator

In its space within the event, Tecnomotum showcased an immersive experience, where operators could experience real-life scenarios: distractions, fatigue, attempted robberies, and critical situations inside and outside the cabin.

The goal was not only to demonstrate technology, but to show how perception changes when the operator understands what AI is for .

Several participants shared their impressions:

“I used to think the camera was for pointing out mistakes, but now I see that it’s for helping us.”

“AI alerts me when I’m too tired. It works.”

This type of feedback points to a cultural change that Tecnomotum has promoted: that technology is not seen as punishment , but as a tool for support.

Cota expressed it this way:

“AI is not meant to replace people, but to give them superpowers.”

The future of transport

Cota also addressed the convergence between generative AI and digital twins , technologies that will allow the simulation of complex logistical scenarios—such as blockades, storms, or port closures—and anticipate the best operational response.

“We will be able to ask the system: what happens if my route floods?, what do I do if my driver has been driving for more than 12 hours or if the brakes indicate a failure?” he explained.

One of Tecnomotum’s differentiating factors is the regionalization of its algorithms , designed to understand the Mexican and Latin American context.

“Our models understand when an operator says ‘the rats came out’ and know that they’re not talking about animals, but about an attempted robbery. The AI has to speak our language,” he commented.

In addition, the company has developed specific functions for the domestic market, such as weapons detection in the cabin , engine shutdowns with automated protocols , and predictive alerts adapted to high-risk routes.

Training: the key to turning technology into results

Tecnomotum emphasized that adoption doesn’t happen on its own. Therefore, it promotes Enlace Freightliner Academy , a continuous training program for operators, monitors, and fleet managers.

The goal is to ensure that teams understand how AI works, how to interpret information, and how to integrate the technology into their daily operations.

For Tecnomotum, the formula is clear: without training, AI is just a tool; with training, it becomes an enabler of efficiency, security, and decision-making .

The message Tecnomotum delivered at Expo Transporte is direct: artificial intelligence is no longer an aspirational concept , but an operational component that allows for preventing incidents , responding to emergencies, and improving productivity.

And its impact is greatest when the technology is adopted, understood, and becomes part of the daily routine of those who manage, monitor, and direct the operation. Motum: More than Artificial Intelligence, real results.

In the panel “Financing for Sustainable Mobility ,” held within the framework of Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , Flores indicated that this project is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the sector, although he did not elaborate on the details.

In this regard, Alejandro Osorio, president of the ANPACT Expo Transport Committee , considered it relevant that resources can be available for the scrapping bonus and that this type of initiative “reaches the grassroots level, the base of the pyramid.”

“What we are looking for is for the carriers who are present here at Expo Transporte ANPACT, who need to renew this fleet, because used vehicles, and especially used imported vehicles that come from the United States, are vehicles that at their age are already scrap metal, they are vehicles that are closely related to emissions and also to the accident rate, and for that, this scrapping bonus could be useful,” Osorio emphasized.

In his presentation, Augusto Trigos, Head of Sales for Volkswagen Trucks and Buses and MAN Trucks and Buses , pointed out that better financial education is needed so that truckers can learn about the benefits offered by the product they are looking for and what type of financing best suits their needs.

The specialist considered that there is still some resistance among business owners in the sector, especially regarding adapting to the modernization of financing, such as the digital signing of contracts, which in some cases those involved still prefer to do in person.

Isabel Studer, president of the Global Sustainability organization , emphasized that it is important to consider the modernization of fleets , since in Mexico the average age is 19 years in the cargo and passenger sectors, and there are even vehicles that reach up to 40 years.

He explained that almost half of the federal fleet is obsolete, and “although some 843,000 units are registered, we know that the real fleet, because it includes all those other vehicles in the states that do not have those federal fleets, reaches 1.6 million vehicles; therefore, more than 800,000 units with state plates do not even have registrations,” which makes it difficult for them to access financing.

He pointed out that the above has an impact on the environment, since, he said, 20% of the country’s total emissions come from the transport sector, largely due to the aging of the vehicle fleet.

With a call for inter-institutional unity and unity among trucking chambers, Enrique Dueñas, president of the National Association of Mexican Crane Businessmen (Agrúas) , considered that professionalization of the sector is necessary to address the current and future challenges demanded by the trucking ecosystem.

At Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , he said that the most important thing at this time is to continue strengthening the group he leads, since they have a track record and are recognized by transport organizations and federal and state authorities.

On the technological front, Dueñas asserted that this area must be addressed, “because modernity is catching up with us and we have to keep up with the times we are living in.”

In the transport sector, he indicated, they are concerned about the tax issues coming next year, “and we are part of the transport industry, so we also have to take into account what is coming and that next year we are going to have many administrative, tax and fiscal problems, and we have to make the companies profitable in order to comply with the government’s requirements.”

At a conference, Carlos Omar Jiménez, head of the Property and Auto Insurance Business Lines at the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) , reiterated the willingness to promote the union of the insurance sector with the transportation sector, so that the citizen is the beneficiary.

Despite the challenges that lie ahead for 2026, the executive is committed to unity throughout the transport ecosystem to bring together the actors involved, such as the owner-truck driver, transport companies and the insurer.

Raúl Barrón Ortega, president of the National Crane Committee of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) , echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the unity of the industry to promote legality and build a new national agenda that enhances competitiveness and confidence in this sector.

He recalled that the National Crane Committee presented the opinion on the reform to the Law of Roads and Bridges, and the opinion on the reform of the regulations.

“I would like us to join together and, taking advantage of the fact that this is still the topic of government consultation, to join together as a union to present these proposals, to return them together and present them as a bloc,” he stressed.

GUADALAJARA, JALISCO – Mexico is burdened with aging fleets, saturated routes, a shortage of drivers , and increasing pressure to migrate to cleaner technologies. All of this is happening simultaneously, in a context where the energy transition is no longer a futuristic aspiration, but an immediate challenge for cities and the trucking industry, according to experts.

That is the starting point for the discussions that various international and national voices have put on the table: how to achieve sustainable transport without losing sight of the operational , financial and social reality of the country.

The setting for the discussion: Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 and its panel “Modernization of road transport” , where specialists commented that one of the deepest problems is that Mexico has an unequal fleet.

Panel: Modernization of road transport, Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025.

While private tractor-trailers average between eight and 10 years of age, the federal public service fleet reaches 19 years, with units that continue to circulate under obsolete emissions standards, explained Jesús Padilla, founding president of the Mexican Association of Transportation and Mobility (AMTM) .

This gap impacts everything: pollution, fuel consumption, costs, and safety. A modern vehicle can pollute up to 90% less and consume about 20% less fuel than one manufactured two decades ago, explained Leonardo Gómez, executive president of the National Association of Private Transportation (ANTP) .

But technology alone doesn’t solve anything. Another structural problem is financial capacity. Renewing fleets, adapting infrastructure, or migrating to clean energy requires resources that are currently insufficient, the panelists explained.

One of the participants was the Swedish ambassador to Mexico, Gunnar Alden, who stressed that “investment is very important” and highlighted the relevance of cooperation between companies, government, academia and civil society to promote sustainable transportation solutions.

He pointed out that it is necessary to create collaboration centers , like those that exist in Sweden, where these four sectors work together in the search for comprehensive solutions.

Based on the experience of public transportation, it is recognized that Mexico would need at least 100 billion pesos annually to maintain operating systems, renew units, and sustain fares that do not affect the user, Padilla said.

And that’s where another dilemma arises: governments promote modernization strategies, but budgets don’t keep pace . Meanwhile, systems deteriorate, maintenance becomes more expensive, and service quality declines. Users lose mobility, and cities lose competitiveness, Padilla explained.

These challenges are compounded by the climate emergency. Electromobility has gone from being a trend to a necessity, but it comes with new questions: Where should the energy come from? What should be done with the batteries once they reach the end of their lifespan? How can we prepare cities where there is no longer space for charging stations or parking areas?

It’s a technical problem, but also an environmental one. Johanna Wysluch, director of projects: sustainable cities and transport, German cooperation agency GIZ , pointed out that if the transition is not accompanied by circular economy schemes (recycling, second life batteries, materials recovery), Mexico could face a new type of pollution .

Wysluch said that more than 1,800 tons of lithium-ion batteries have already been recovered through initiatives supported by international cooperation.

Digitization appears as an additional layer to the problem. Without data, there is no planning. Without planning , there is no efficiency. The experience in Oaxaca and the State of Mexico, where more than 800 routes were digitized using the General Transportation Feeds Specification (GTFS), showed that information can change how citizens access transportation. However, most of the country still operates without traceability, without clear frequencies, and without unified platforms, which limits any attempt at modernization, according to Wisluch.

In freight transport , another major debate revolves around the double semi-trailer. Although figures support the claim that it is the vehicle “that pollutes the least per ton-kilometer transported” and one of the safest, legislative discussion persists. For the industry, the real problem is not the vehicle itself, but the lack of modernization and training: a modern double semi-trailer requires more technology, more safety measures, and better-trained operators, according to Gómez.

“The double semi-trailer is the vehicle that pollutes the least,” said Gómez.

In the end, the panelists agreed that Mexico’s transportation problems are systemic. They cannot be solved with a single decree, a single technology, or a single operational change. They require coordination between industry, government, and international cooperation . They require financing, effective legislation, and clean energy.

The challenges are an aging fleet , a shortage of operators, insufficient infrastructure, limited financing, lagging regulation, and an energy transition that is moving faster than the institutional capacity to keep up.

Heldt explained that this integration responds to the need to streamline operations and strengthen customer service.

Regarding International’s comprehensive service, the goal is to achieve greater availability within customer fleets. “The most important thing is the trust we build with our customers and how we become strategic partners,” added Alvarenga

To boost comprehensive support, International’s dealer network has recently invested over five million dollars in modernizing its facilities, implementing advanced systems and processes, and providing training and talent, with the goal of delivering unique and personalized service.

Alan Frizeiro, Vice President of Service Solutions at International, explained that the comprehensive service solution is available on one out of every two LT S13s in the market, with average service time results of 3.5 hours . This translates to an increase of 1,500 to 2,000 operating days for the fleet with this type of policy, as the previous average service time was 3.5 days

“The numbers speak for themselves, and our answer to the market is our comprehensive service program, combined with superior fuel efficiency. We are especially proud that we are increasingly focused on our customers; International is committed to keeping their trucks on the road, driving the Mexican economy,” Frizeiro explained.

In this vein, Mathias Carlbaum, President and CEO of International, highlighted the role being played in Mexico, because the results are not only about moving the economy, but also about moving opportunities , and about fulfilling the way transportation is managed and made profitable.

NEW MEMBER S13

With the results obtained with the LT S13 tractor truck, showing at least an 8% improvement in performance compared to the previous generation, International has now introduced the HV S13, with a proprietary powertrain.

Carlos López, Director of Solutions Sales, described that in addition to the comprehensive service offering, the LT S13 tractor truck is now being served by customers with customized plans, as is done by the brand’s financing arm, which currently finances one out of every three vehicles on the market, “allowing them to start generating profits from day one.”

One factor López highlighted is the diversity of applications of the S13 powertrain, which addresses various market needs, from long-haul transport to vocational and specialized applications, such as car carriers, “demonstrating that power can also be synonymous with efficiency. That’s why today the S13 family is strengthened with the arrival of the new HV model , a model that redefines the segment and raises the performance standard with maximum torque, greater fuel efficiency, and superior durability.”

The S13 HV truck integrates International’s proprietary powertrain and, in López’s view, consolidates innovation and profitability for customers.

Both announcements “reinforce the company’s vision of continuing to transform the transportation industry with innovation, connectivity, and solutions tailored to the customer,” commented Jorge Navarro , Commercial Director of Scania Mexico.

“For some time now, our customers have been asking us to start buying back units. We began with our own trucks, but also with buybacks of multi-brand units,” explained Navarro, introducing the new used vehicle sales team headed by John Matos, Area Manager.

During his presentation, he emphasized that this project aims to offer greater resale value and confidence to carriers, with formal buyback and reconditioning processes, and the possibility of acquiring pre-owned units from both Scania and other brands .

The new system includes a digital platform with an online quote tool and interactive screens that allow users to view the available inventory directly from the Scania Mexico website.

“We want the customer to have complete transparency, quick access to information, and the ability to choose the option that best suits their operation,” he noted

With this initiative, Scania expands its commercial portfolio to serve a growing segment, offering support, warranty, and traceability for each vehicle, and consolidating a comprehensive offering that covers the entire lifecycle of the units.

Scania Smart, technology at the service of the driver and the fleet

The second launch, Scania Smart , represents the brand’s latest technological leap toward intelligent transport

Navarro explained that the system was designed as a customizable digital platform that brings together all the truck or bus’s devices, sensors, and systems in a single environment , creating a direct link between the vehicle, the driver, and the operation.

“Scania Smart is more than a digital dashboard. It’s an operational partner, a tool that connects the driver with the information that truly matters,” the executive emphasized.

The solution integrates features such as navigation, alerts, vehicle performance, and preventative diagnostics , all organized in a clear and intuitive way. Visual and audible alerts warn of pedestrians, nearby vehicles, or driver fatigue, promoting safer and more efficient driving.

The system also enhances fleet management , allowing operators to monitor performance in real time, anticipate maintenance, and reduce unnecessary stops .

“With this tool, we are taking the first steps toward autonomy. It is the technological foundation upon which we will continue to build the future of transportation,” Navarro stressed

For his part , Alejandro Mondragón , president and CEO of Scania Mexico , underscored the importance of the industrial and operational growth that the brand is driving globally and locally.

He highlighted that the company continues its global expansion process with the opening of its third industrial hub in Asia , a strategic step that will strengthen its production capacity and international presence.

A new industrial hub in Asia

Mondragón reported that Scania inaugurated a plant in Rugao, China , with an investment of two billion euros , intended to serve the Asian market.

“We are going to add 50,000 more trucks to the group’s industrial capacity, that is, from 100,000 to 150,000 trucks per year,” he specified.

The executive pointed out that this development will allow for a reduction in the workload at the hubs in Europe and Brazil, where the brand has its main production centers.

“It’s not about moving manufacturing to China, but about strengthening our global presence and maintaining the stability of the supply chain in all markets,” he explained

In addition, the plant will have a local research and development team, allowing it to combine European expertise with the speed of Asian innovation

“We are going to combine Scania’s legendary quality with China’s technological speed. More innovation, more launches, faster development, and with European quality—that is the formula the group is betting on globally,” he stated.

Mondragón recalled the challenges the industry faced during 2022 and 2023, when a shortage of microchips and components complicated vehicle availability

“Now, with the hub in Asia, we will be able to better respond to demand and ensure that Mexican customers have the product they need, when they need it,” she emphasized.

Investment and Expansion in Mexico

In Mexico, the brand is also implementing a growth plan focused on service, after-sales support, and technical training.

Gisela Quintero, Director of Customer Experience and Service at Scania Mexico, explained that the company will close the year with an investment of over 250 million pesos , earmarked for strengthening its national network.

“This year has been very busy and rewarding. We have expanded our service points and support centers, and we are growing to offer broader coverage and a better experience for our customers,” she stated

The expansion strategy began with the opening of a training center, aimed at strengthening the technical skills of service personnel. Subsequently, the brand opened new branches in Tepotzotlán, Villahermosa, and Puebla , in addition to relocating and expanding its facilities in Culiacán and León , key locations for the Pacific and Bajío regions.

Soon, new service points will be added in Chihuahua and Manzanillo, along with the relocation of Tijuana, Monterrey, and Mérida, bringing Scania’s total to more than 140,000 square meters dedicated to after-sales service.

Quintero emphasized that the focus is not only on growing in space, but also on improving the customer and operator experience.

“We want operators to feel pampered, for our spaces to be efficient and ergonomic for employees, and for every visit to be a positive experience,” he said

The central parts warehouse, also located in Querétaro, remains an operational pillar: 570 million pesos worth of parts stored, more than 20,000 part numbers in inventory, and daily shipments throughout the country, with 24/7 service.

Customer proximity and specialized service

In his remarks, Manuel Aranda, Retail Director of Scania Mexico, emphasized that the key to the brand’s growth lies in its proximity to the customer and in offering comprehensive solutions that go beyond vehicle sales.

“We don’t want to sell trucks or buses; we want to bring solutions and facilitate our customers’ businesses,” he stated.

With more than 60 service points throughout the country , Scania has built a 100% company-owned network that, according to Aranda, no other brand has managed to replicate in Mexico

The executive highlighted that Scania was the first brand to offer maintenance contracts , a scheme that guarantees continuous and transparent service. “Our customers no longer have to look for external suppliers or workshops; we take care of everything, with assistance, scheduled maintenance, mobile workshops, and on-site service,” he explained.

Among the solutions mentioned, the CWS (Customer Workshop Solution) stands out, a model that allows for the installation of workshops operated entirely by Scania within the customers’ routes or operating centers, with the brand’s own infrastructure, personnel, and tools.

Aranda also emphasized the preparation of the company’s technical team, made up of more than 450 specialists who have accumulated 38,000 hours of training. “Customers in Mexico deserve the best truck in the world, and that’s why we work with the best technicians,” he stated.

Aranda closed his remarks with a message that reflected the team spirit that characterizes the brand.

“At Scania, we love challenges. Every day we wake up with the passion to offer the best service and transform the industry. This energy unites us and makes us different,” he said
