Fleet management in Mexico is moving beyond schemes focused solely on fuel control to advance towards models that integrate maintenance information, tolls, telemetry and electrification, with the goal of improving operational efficiency and reducing costs.

Faced with greater logistical demands and increasing pressure to optimize resources, companies are demanding more and more tools that allow them to have a comprehensive view of their operations, said Pablo Chiappetta, general director of Mobility at  Edenred Mexico .

“Today, the real need of customers is to have all the information integrated in one place,” he stated.

The executive explained that fuel represents between 30% and 35% of the total cost of a fleet, but there are other factors that directly impact profitability, such as maintenance, tolls, or the time that the units remain out of operation.

For companies, one of the main challenges is to transform the data generated by different systems into useful information for decision-making.

The trend, Chiappetta noted, is to move from isolated platforms to ecosystems capable of combining fuel , telemetry, maintenance and vehicle performance information to generate predictive analysis and operational recommendations.

“Companies are looking to simplify and have a single view of the operation. It’s no longer just about knowing how much is spent on fuel, but about understanding the total cost of operation,” he said.

In this context, Edenred is working on a platform called One Mobility , which is scheduled to launch at the end of this year, with the intention of integrating information from different solutions and generating indicators for fleet managers.

The strategy is the result of an evolution that began three years ago with the launch of new solutions such as Ticket Car Plus, its fuel control platform; tools for self-consumption; maintenance management; toll solutions and emissions compensation programs.

Now, the challenge is to connect all that information through a data and analytics layer capable of generating recommendations and predictive models supported by artificial intelligence (AI).

Electrification is starting to gain ground

The transition to electric vehicles is also starting to gain relevance, particularly in last-mile operations .

According to Chiappetta, some large companies already operate partially electrified fleets and demand for this type of solution is growing at triple-digit rates, although the available infrastructure is still limited.

Currently there are around four thousand chargers in Mexico, a number still small for the size of the country, so many companies have started with loading schemes in their own yards.

“Electrification is an irreversible trend. The challenge now is to develop the necessary infrastructure to support that growth ,” he commented.

Digitization also opens up opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational control.

According to the executive, the use of technological tools allows for reducing leaks and detecting savings opportunities, as well as anticipating maintenance and optimizing the performance of the units.

“Companies that do not evolve and incorporate technology will be less efficient in an increasingly demanding market,” he warned.

Mexico will be the first country where Edenred will deploy One Mobility.

“We are very proud that Mexico is the first market where we will launch this product. We believe that what we are developing here will transcend the country’s borders,” he commented.

The Mexican operation is one of the most important for the company. Globally, mobility represents 30% of Edenred’s business, and Mexico is the second most important market in the world for this division, after Brazil.

Currently, Edenred Mobility Mexico serves more than 12,000 customers and manages over half a million fuel payment methods. The company has expanded its offerings to include maintenance, toll collection, self-consumption, and electromobility solutions , with a strategy focused on integrating information to provide a more comprehensive view of operations.

Fleet management is undergoing rapid transformations, driven by technological changes and new operational demands . Companies, pressured by greater cost control and stricter environmental guidelines, are evaluating mobility models that will allow them to maintain efficiency and competitiveness.

According to the study “Ecological, Intelligent, and Integrated ,” prepared by Edenred , corporate mobility is at a turning point. The document identified three trends that will shape the evolution of fleets by 2026: electrification, digitalization, and sustainability .

Electromobility: the path towards lower emissions operations

Transportation accounts for one-fifth of global carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and relies on fossil fuels for 95% of its energy needs. Edenred indicated that, to move towards a zero-emissions scenario by 2030, the sector must reduce its emissions by 25%, promoting electric vehicles, biofuels, and clean energy . Although costs are decreasing, challenges such as charging infrastructure and financing remain.

Digitization: data as an engine of efficiency

The study highlighted that tools such as telematics, predictive maintenance, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can reduce maintenance costs by up to 15% and increase vehicle availability by 10% to 15%. However, adoption remains uneven due to a lack of data access and complex administrative processes. Edenred emphasized that fleets must have complete control over their information to optimize operational decisions.

Sustainability: from compliance to positive impact

The document emphasized that companies can become key players in sustainable transport, given the number of kilometers they travel and their role in purchasing new vehicles. The approach focuses on measuring and reducing emissions using the GHG Protocol methodology, promoting offsetting projects, and encouraging efficient driving.

Edenred concluded that the combination of technology, clean energy and data culture will define the competitiveness of fleets in the coming years , in an environment where efficiency and sustainability will be increasingly crucial.

El cargo Electromobility, digitalization and sustainability will redefine fleet management by 2026 apareció primero en T21.

Edenred unveiled Ticket Car+ , a platform that incorporates more than 10 features to strengthen control, operational transparency, and decision-making in corporate mobility , according to Pablo Chiappetta, CEO of Mobility Edenred.

With this development, fleet fuel management is taking a step toward real-time traceability, the executive said.

The focus is on ensuring that what is paid for is exactly what was loaded : GPS-based load certification, automatic odometer validation, and integration with station volumetrics, so that each liter registered corresponds to the amount dispatched, brand representatives explained during the launch event.

Added to this is the planning of optimal routes to reduce time and optimize resources, commented Ulises Aquino, Product Director of Edenred Mexico.

With financial availability, funding is immediate through STP transfers, designed for 24/7 operations and off-hours peaks. Reports are dynamic and customizable , with configurable dashboards to turn data into action, added Pedro Kuri, Edenred’s commercial manager.

National coverage exceeds seven thousand affiliated stations , and more than 80% are diesel-powered, providing operating margin for mixed fleets, according to the company.

The solution also includes chip cards, TAG/DriveTAG (tolls integrated with TeleVía ), and virtual cards with QR payment, designed for rapid deployment and frictionless replacements.

It also includes an NFC option for presence control at the charging point. Switching from a physical card to NFC can generate fuel savings of between 6% and 8%, Kuri explained.

For connectivity contingencies at stations, offline operations allow transactions to continue and synchronize when the network is restored ; additionally, there is 24/7 support dedicated to resolving incidents, according to the company.

The platform is designed to work with various GPS and telemetry providers . Through integrations, it allows for certifying vehicle location and validating each charge, in addition to more accurately calculating mile-by-mile performance, without relying on a single technology provider, Aquino explained.

The offering includes a module with a national network of more than four thousand workshops and auto parts stores, as well as a technical unit that validates estimates and repairs based on scales and evidence, in order to reduce costs and downtime, according to Chiappetta.

The transition comes at no additional cost to customers and was designed with interoperability so that operations can continue with current devices while the new platform is configured, Chiappetta said.

By September 2025, 4,500 customers (more than six million liters) will already be using Ticket Car+ , with a 20-point increase in NPS compared to the previous platform. The plan is to reach 50% of migrated customers in the first quarter of 2026, 75% in the second quarter of 2026, and 100% by the end of next year, according to figures provided by the brand.

Pablo Chiappetta emphasized that the company has already launched pilot projects in Mexico and is looking to leverage its experience in Europe. The goal is for fleets to be able to manage their own charging stations at the base and, over time, integrate the public charging network to expand off-road operating possibilities.

This fleet universe (dispersed, dynamic, and increasingly critical for digital consumption and the last mile) is Edenred’s new objective, Chiappetta commented.

The company, recognized for its fuel management solution, is now stepping on the gas in another direction: vehicle maintenance. It’s doing so with ” Maintenance Fleet ,” a technology platform already operating in Brazil and Argentina, and is now seeking to replicate its success in Mexico.

“Fuel represents 30% of a fleet’s expenses. Maintenance accounts for another 30%. While we already had control over one, we now want to offer a comprehensive solution that helps our customers operate more efficiently and safely,” Chiappetta explained.

In just over a year and a half of operation, the tool has integrated 35,000 vehicles from more than 100 customers. But its potential is still vast: Edenred‘s fuel customer base encompasses nearly 500,000 vehicles in Mexico, and the goal is to reach 100,000 vehicles with digitalized maintenance by 2025.

The solution is based on three key components. The first is a 100% online web platform that allows companies to manage and track all their fleet repairs, from service requests to work order completion.

The second is a national network of more than four thousand participating workshops , including multi-brand stores, dealerships, tire shops, and more, which Edenred does not own, but with which it establishes standards of quality, prices, and response times, commented Isaac Franco, product manager for Mobility Edenred.

And the third is a technical cell that evaluates each repair , validates the scales, spare parts prices, man-hours, and ensures transparency through photographic and video evidence.

Traceability is complete, Franco said. The system even issues alerts if, for example, a part is changed too frequently, which can indicate anything from misuse to possible fraud.

And while it doesn’t completely eliminate theft or collusion between operators and workshops, the model does significantly reduce it, thanks to the volume of orders and constant audits that Edenred imposes on its partners, Franco explained.

One of the biggest challenges has been changing the companies’ approach. “In Mexico, maintenance is often done until a failure occurs,” Chiappetta acknowledged. However, the results show that digitizing maintenance can have immediate impacts.

Jesús Sánchez, commercial manager of Fleet Maintenance, recounted a specific success story: a company with 11,500 vehicles that, upon logging into the system, discovered that 2,000 units were not in operation.

“It was an unnecessary expense that no one had been able to identify without this traceability,” Sánchez explained.

Furthermore, the system reduced the average repair time from four days to one, resulting in savings of up to 120,000 pesos per immobilized unit, considering costs such as operator salaries, the value of the detained asset, and the loss from non-revenue generation.

“We’ve invited workshops from Mexico City to expand to Monterrey or to specific areas where we see opportunities,” Chiappetta said.

They’ve even designed customized layouts for cable companies, oil companies, leasing companies , and utilities. Some require workshops operating at night, while others require mechanics to drive directly to the yards in trucks equipped as mobile workshops.

While the light-duty fleet has been the starting point, Edenred is already looking directly at the tractor-trailer and electric vehicle sector.

Chiappetta explained that he is currently working with large Mexican transporters to develop a specialized network for heavy-duty transport, with a view to launching operations soon.

The platform is now ready and has trained technicians to validate each intervention. Regarding electric vehicles, the firm observed rapid but chaotic adoption.

“We have customers with 200 electric vans, but not a single operational charger,” Chiappetta shared.

For this reason, Edenred now includes workshops specializing in electric vehicles, including charging, lithium batteries, and safety issues.

In Brazil, Edenred provides maintenance services to 500,000 vehicles, with a 50% penetration rate across its total base. Mexico is on track to reach 10% in just a year and a half, but with the same operating model.

The strategy is based on four pillars: leveraging the current customer base (cross-selling), growing in the public sector, closing deals with large fleets, and adding new value-added services.

If the formula is replicated, it will not only consolidate a comprehensive mobility solution, but will also boost the professionalization of automotive maintenance in Mexico, with a direct impact on road safety, competitiveness, and cost reduction, Chiappetta explained.
