The  transportation, communications, postal and storage sector  registered an annual drop of 54,619 jobs in Mexico during December 2025 , according to the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE), carried out by the  National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

According to the survey, Mexican logistics reported 3,555,606 jobs  in the last month of last year, while in December 2024 it was  3,610,225 , which meant a decline of 1.51% in the period.

According to the ENOE, in December 2025 the Economically Active Population (EAP) was 61.9 million people, an annual increase of 1.1 million.

By gender, the economic participation rate for women was 45.6% and for men 74.3%. Compared to December 2024, the participation rate for women decreased by 0.4 percentage points and for men by 0.3 percentage points.

By sector, the employed population was distributed as follows: services accounted for 26.6 million people (44.1%); commerce 12.4 million (20.5%); manufacturing industry 9.5 million (15.7%); agriculture, livestock, forestry, hunting and fishing  6.4 million (10.6%); construction 4.7 million (7.8%); and other economic activities —which include mining, electricity, water and gas supply— 378 thousand (0.6%).

In the reference month, the  unemployed population was 1.5 million people, a figure similar to that of a year earlier. The unemployment rate was 2.4% during the reference period.

The economically inactive population (EIP) was 42.8 million people (40.9% of the population aged 15 and over), representing a growth of 1.1 million people compared to December 2024.

In December 2025, the underemployed population (people who declared a need and availability to work more hours than their current job demands) was 3.7 million, 324,000 less than in the last month of 2024. The underemployment rate stood at 6.2% of the employed population, a drop of 6.9% compared to that recorded in December 2024.

Meanwhile,  informal workers  in December 2025 totaled 33 million, and the rate of informal employment was established at 54.6%, a higher percentage than the 53.7% of the last month of 2024.

According to the ENOE at the end of 2025, employment in Mexico has remained resilient in the face of factors such as the uncertainty caused by the United States’ tariff policy, which has spread globally and affected various productive sectors of the country.

Although a decline was recorded in the logistics industry, this sector continues in a period of readjustment in the face of the growth of activities such as e-commerce, which demands more warehousing and transportation services for the final delivery of products to the consumer.
