Becerra emphasized that 2025 was driven by key implementations with clients such as San Pablo Farmacia , Bachoco , and companies in the automotive sector, among others. These organizations, he said, are pursuing three main objectives in their digital evolution: greater operational efficiency through process optimization and cost reduction ; a next-generation technology foundation , where modernization ceases to be a limitation and becomes an enabler of growth ; and comprehensive business transformation , guided by best practices from more than 25 industries that SAP serves globally.

He noted that technology is a key driver, but emphasized that the human component remains crucial.

“Transformation involves changing processes, culture, and the status quo, and that remains one of the country’s biggest challenges,” he commented.

Looking ahead to 2026, SAP Mexico will maintain a strong commitment to solidifying its position as the leading technology partner in enterprise applications, data, and artificial intelligence . The goal, the company stated, is for each client to be able to capture the true value of innovation by implementing it in concrete business processes.

For many companies, talking about digital transformation still refers to warehouses or administrative processes , but in transportation, fleet digitalization has become a critical tool for improving road safety, optimizing costs, and attracting talent that is currently scarce in the sector.

“Five years ago, we still found fleets operating without GPS, blindly. Today, telemetry, video, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions are essential. It’s no longer enough to know where the truck is, but how it’s being driven and what opportunities there are for improvement,” explained Luis Daniel Gómez, Senior Sales Manager at Webfleet .

According to Gómez, one of the main barriers remains resistance to change. For example, companies that still rely on phone calls or WhatsApp tracking lack real visibility into what’s happening with their units.

“There are companies that say, ‘I’ve been operating like this for 30 years and I don’t have any problems.’ But in reality, they’re missing out on savings opportunities and exposing themselves to unnecessary risks,” he warned.

Contrary to popular belief, safety and productivity are not mutually exclusive . Gómez explained that an employee who feels cared for, who knows their workday is well managed, and that there are tools to protect them, will be more loyal, efficient, and likely to remain with the company.

In a context where the operator shortage is critical, retaining talent has become a priority.

In addition, digitalization also helps meet environmental goals , with tools to measure carbon footprints and make decisions based on real emissions data.

In this sense, Webfleet solutions allow real-time monitoring of driving habits: harsh acceleration, braking, sharp turns, fuel consumption, and even the time a vehicle remains idling.

“With this data, the client can identify drivers engaging in risky behavior, train them, and prevent accidents,” he said.

Gómez shared the case of a client whose operator was involved in a fatal accident caused by a third party.

“Thanks to the video evidence, it was possible to prove that the operator was not at fault. This not only freed him from legal consequences, but also confirmed the value of having technology that protects lives,” he said.

The trends for the immediate future are driven by Artificial Intelligence. Webfleet is already working on a new phase of its platform with virtual assistants that will allow users to view key data such as the vehicle with the highest fuel consumption or the most kilometers traveled through conversational bots like ChatGPT .

Technologies are also being developed to identify operators using cards, and cameras’ ability to detect real drowsiness, not just distractions, is being improved.

“This is no longer science fiction. The technology is already here, and fleets that don’t jump on the digitalization bandwagon will be at a disadvantage. We are here to support them in this process,” emphasized Luis Daniel Gómez.

He mentioned that, from the first mathematical models to today’s advanced technologies, AI has evolved significantly and has become a key tool in process optimization.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer just a futuristic concept. Today, it facilitates decision-making, improves security and optimizes the management of goods in real time,” he said.

An example of these advances is the work of OpenAI , whose development has allowed AI to be accessible not only to large corporations, but also to small and medium-sized companies, where, currently, models such as Chat GPT and emerging tools are making a difference in strategic sectors.

In this regard, Willy Kolter assured that the CLAA is promoting the adoption of these technologies to guarantee more efficient and secure processes , since customs agents and their legal representatives have a great responsibility in the modernization of the sector, so events such as this symposium are key to learn, interact and adopt new technological solutions.

In this context, the president of CLAA mentioned that “the future has not only arrived, it is queuing up at customs. Are you ready to let it in?”

Tariffs, a threat that will impact the economy and innovation

On the other hand, John Willy Kolter highlighted the impact of political decisions on the economy and technological innovation , in particular, he addressed the recent tariff proposals by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, against Mexico and Canada, measures that could reach up to 25% tariffs and seriously affect the supply chain in North America.

“While combating fentanyl trafficking and migration are urgent challenges, imposing tariffs could bring more negative consequences than real solutions. The economy and technological innovation depend on trade stability,” Kolter said.

He explained that Trump has justified these tariffs as part of his strategy to curb fentanyl trafficking and irregular migration to the United States, a problem that has gained great relevance, since in 2022 more than 70 thousand deaths from opioid overdoses were recorded in the neighboring country.

The executive therefore stressed that Mexico must demonstrate a real commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and customs security , not only to avoid tariffs, but also to strengthen regional cooperation for the benefit of the three nations.

During 2023, historic levels of foreign direct investment were recorded , not only in new capital but also in reinvestments by companies that already had operations in Mexican territory, which reaffirms the credibility and development potential of the country, positioning it within the world’s top ten in attracting investments and purchase and sale operations, mergers and acquisitions.

In this regard, the executive pointed out that digitalisation has become a fundamental tool for competing in this new environment.

Vargas highlighted the need to transform information. For example, having unstructured data makes decision-making difficult, while structured data allows us to analyze the past, understand the present and project the future.

On the other hand, proper management of information prevents overpayments, tax contingencies and loss of credibility with authorities, so the use of specialized data analysis software allows inefficiencies to be detected and corrected in real time.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the launch of the AWS Mexico (Central) region, and as part of its plans, the company plans to invest more than five billion dollars (mdd) in the country over the next 15 years.

“This launch marks an important step as we continue to expand our infrastructure and deliver global innovation in machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and other advanced technologies to our customers,” said Prasad Kalyanaraman, vice president of Infrastructure Services at AWS.

Kalyanaraman explained that the new AWS region will help companies across Mexico to be at the center of AI and ML innovation, with the help of secure and reliable infrastructure, along with a broad set of technologies.

In this way, developers, startups, entrepreneurs, as well as government, educational and non-profit organizations, will have options to run their applications and provide service to end users from AWS data centers located in Mexico .

“We are proud to deepen our investment in Mexico to help support business transformation, foster technology talent, develop cloud skills, and create opportunities for economic growth,” said Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS.
