In a strategic move that marks a new phase in its history, Coppel presented its new brand image this Monday, a transformation that goes far beyond graphic design; it is an operational, technological, and logistical evolution that seeks to strengthen its value proposition and support its more than 15 million customers in an increasingly digital, agile, and interconnected era.

Diego Coppel, the company’s commercial director, stated that this renewal responds to the rapid changes in the environment and new consumer expectations.

“This new image isn’t just a logo; it’s a statement of intent and action. It’s a promise to be more dynamic, more accessible, and more inspiring to our customers,” he stated.

Liliana Iñigo, Marketing Director, reaffirmed this perspective, saying that consumers are increasingly connected and multi-channel.

“Today, more than 70% of households in Mexico shop through at least seven different channels. This requires us to be more agile, more digital, without losing what makes us unique: proximity and trust. The new image reflects this. We maintain our essence, but we’ve transformed to better support customers every step of the way,” he stated.

Coppel will invest 80 billion pesos (mdp) over the next five years to make this transformation a reality, which encompasses five lines of action: customer proximity, digitalization, financial inclusion, talent development, and responsibility toward communities and the environment.

“The story behind Coppel is one of hard work, inclusion, innovation, and permanence. We’re evolving to continue supporting our clients and improving their lives every day,” said Diego Coppel.

It’s a fundamental transformation that reshapes our entire ecosystem,” he added.

In this regard, the Sinaloa-based retailer has an ambitious digital commitment that includes the launch of a new app with more than 200 features and an e-commerce platform , with which it seeks to double its digital sales , which currently account for 10% of its total sales.

“Our purchasing teams are now fully omnichannel. We will also be updating the more than 4,000 digital kiosks in stores, which are essential for the technological adoption of our new customers,” emphasized Gloria Canales, Director of E-Commerce and Omnichannel.

From a sustainable transportation perspective, Coppel is also making a strong commitment to the use of more than 700 stores already operating with solar panels , and its fleet exceeds 500 electric and hybrid vehicles . These actions reinforce its environmental commitment and the reduction of its carbon footprint.

Regarding its social impact, the company highlighted its role as one of the country’s top 10 employers , with 120,000 employees .

In this regard, Estephany Ley, Director of Retail Banking at BanCoppel, shared how the transformation is also reflected in financial services.

“We’re expanding our offering: we’re launching auto, payroll, and mortgage loans. We’re also evolving our banking app with a more intuitive and robust experience, and we’re training our employees to be financial advisors, not just transaction executors,” he emphasized.

This center seeks to optimize the delivery and supply processes of the 235 stores located in central and southern Mexico.

With an investment of 1.2 billion pesos and the incorporation of advanced technologies , Agustín Coppel, general director of the company, highlighted that this new center will increase the company’s productivity by 25% , improving the management of large volumes of orders.

“It will allow us to strengthen our service at all points of contact with the customer. In addition, it will create a thousand direct jobs, with training and development plans for employees, which reinforces our commitment to the professional growth of employees,” explained Coppel.

The Distribution Center in Texcoco is distinguished by integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as warehouse management systems (WMS), which improve precision and speed in distribution.

Among the most notable advances, Agustín Coppel mentioned the incorporation of electric forklifts, automated packaging and an omnichannel module that will facilitate direct delivery to the consumer.

The company also stressed its focus on sustainability , highlighting the installation of 917 that will generate 750 kW per year, avoiding the emission of hundreds of tons of CO2, and the use of hybrid and electric transport.

From the government level, both the governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez, and the Secretary of Economic Development, Laura González, reaffirmed the commitment of the State of Mexico to industrial growth, pointing out that the entity is consolidated as a key point in national logistics .

“The State of Mexico is home to 389 distribution centers, representing 13% of the total nationwide, and is attractive for investment due to its airport and rail connectivity,” said González.

For her part, Governor Delfina Gómez highlighted the importance of these projects in job creation and local economic development.

With this new facility, Coppel is seeking to continue positioning itself as a benchmark in the distribution and delivery of products in Mexico.

The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and quality in data management are transforming the logistics sector, but without an adequate approach, 80% of companies could fail in their implementation, warned Enrique Vázquez, general director of Recurso Confiable , during a panel focused on logistics control towers, organized by #SoyLogístico Association .

The event featured panelists such as Juan Arévalo, head of Elektra ‘s Digital Supply Network ; Enrique Schleske, director of Supply Chain at Henkel ; and Mauricio Salgado, director of Supply Chain Operations at Coppel , and discussed the importance of correctly capturing, processing and analyzing data to facilitate decision-making .

In this regard, the specialists highlighted how companies face the risk of making decisions with incomplete or outdated data.

“A recent example is the congestion at the ports on the West Coast of the United States, a problem that led many companies to redirect their cargo to the port of Long Beach, whose operating volume increased by 34% in August,” said Mauricio Salgado.

In this context, he pointed out that companies that do not have a robust data control tower could not anticipate these types of problems in time, resulting in delayed merchandise and significant economic losses.

Juan Arévalo said that AI is useful when properly integrated into information systems, but warned that its successful implementation depends on having reliable and complete data.

“Even though 80% of AI projects could fail, the secret lies in the company’s preparation to properly manage the information. Data is relevant if it is complete and integral,” Arévalo emphasized.

In the same context, Salgado stressed the urgency of having factual data to avoid incorrect decisions that could result in cost overruns or loss of merchandise.

“Products that arrive too late are sold at auction, which leads to losses in the millions,” said Salgado.

The key, according to the panelists, is to get the right data and do it at the right time , since for them, excessive analysis and the search for perfection in data generate operational paralysis, which is especially critical in a dynamic logistics environment.

For his part, Enrique Schleske also spoke about how some companies still operate with obsolete methods , such as excessive dependence on Excel, which limits their ability to handle large volumes of information.

“With thousands of codes and combinations in play every day, it is critical to have advanced data management systems that enable real-time decisions. Without them, organizations risk falling behind,” Schleske said.

He also pointed to a generational trend in which some employees, accustomed to manual processes, resist the use of new technological tools , which slows down the transition to more efficient logistics.

Additionally, Enrique Vázquez said that automation is another key trend that is shaping the future of logistics. He said that while automation can optimize operations, it also generates frustration in teams when systems do not achieve the expected perfection.

“To avoid this problem, leaders must manage expectations and prepare teams to work within a reasonable margin of error. Perfection in logistics is unattainable, companies must focus on continuously improving their efficiency and ability to react,” said Vázquez.

Experts agreed that talent development is essential to meet these new challenges.

“It is not enough to have the data and the technology. It is essential that staff are trained to take advantage of these tools. It is a journey that companies must undertake, and there will be frustrations along the way, but it is the only way to remain competitive in a market where mistakes can cost millions,” concluded Juan Arévalo.

The panel concluded by highlighting that the future of logistics depends on successful integration of artificial intelligence and efficient data management, supported by trained personnel.
