CMA CGM announced that it will launch a service dedicated to the west coast of Central America , which will be fully operated by the French shipping company and will include stops in five ports.

The new weekly service will be known as “Maya Service” and this initiative “is in line with the market dynamics in the region and the difficulties that have been faced recently. It confirms CMA CGM’s commitment to providing a high-quality service and supporting the growth of its business,” the company said.

The rotation will be carried out in the order Lázaro Cárdenas (Mexico) – Puerto Caldera (Costa Rica) – Corinto (Nicaragua) – Acajutla (El Salvador) – Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala) – Lázaro Cárdenas.

The service will feature two dedicated container ships operated by CMA CGM, the CMA CGM Surabaya and the Magdalena Schulte. This will allow the connection “to Asia and the west coast of South America via Lázaro Cárdenas” , according to the shipping company. The first departure will be made by the CMA CGM Surabaya and is scheduled for January 2, 2025.

The company also clarified that the service will have two phases. The first will operate via Lázaro Cárdenas from January 2 to April 10, 2025, while the second (starting April 10 of next year) will be operated from Buenaventura, Colombia.
