The challenges facing the trucking and logistics industry in Mexico are not limited to insecurity , but also encompass a broader environment that combines economic uncertainty , political pressure, and structural barriers that restrict business growth, according to Eduardo Alejandro Mendoza, CEO of CM Logistics .

The weight of these factors becomes even more significant when considering that logistics costs in emerging economies like Mexico can exceed 12% to 14% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the World Bank . This level of impact amplifies the pressure on companies’ profitability and influences their investment decisions in an environment marked by volatility, trade changes, and increased operational demands.

From a business perspective, the lack of clarity in the implementation of public policies and the obstacles to realizing investments continue to generate caution. Although there is a discourse aimed at attracting capital and fostering development , these elements are now determining factors for business decisions, Mendoza explained.

At the operational level, the challenges are also reflected at the grassroots level. The creation and formalization of businesses continues to face bureaucratic processes that, in some cases, can drag on for months.

This contrast becomes even more apparent when compared to other markets. According to the executive, in countries like the United States, the process of opening a business can take just a few days, while in Mexico it can take up to three months , directly impacting the speed of business development.

In this context, companies in the sector have opted to diversify their operations to reduce risks and maintain competitiveness. The integration of logistics services throughout the supply chain has become a strategy for responding to more demanding markets with changing dynamics.

Following this logic, CM Logistics diversified its operations into various industrial sectors, expanding its reach beyond traditional transportation. The company has developed capabilities in segments such as industrial manufacturing, footwear, and machinery handling, enabling it to meet more specialized requirements.

Another adjustment is the expansion into less conventional international markets . The company has managed to operate in regions such as Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, reflecting a trend in the sector to explore new destinations in response to the diversification of global trade.

On an operational level, the strategy has also been geared towards greater integration of processes, from collection to final distribution, with the aim of gaining control over the operation and responding more quickly to disruptions in the supply chain.

The incorporation of technological tools and the adoption of international standards are part of the efforts to strengthen operations. Professionalizing the sector, particularly in areas such as freight forwarding and cargo management, is emerging as a key element in the face of an increasingly competitive environment.

Faced with these challenges, differentiation also depends on the ability to adapt. The company has opted for tailor-made logistics solutions , supported by innovation and technology, to respond to critical operations where delivery times are crucial—a strategy aimed at sustaining operations in an increasingly demanding environment.

El cargo Bureaucracy hinders investment in transport and logistics: CM Logistics apareció primero en T21.

CM Logistics , a freight forwarder firm specialized in the movement of plastic and its manufacturing, is expanding in Mexico, since this month it will inaugurate a presence in Guadalajara and Monterrey, and it also aims to reach more countries in Latin America.

Eduardo Mendoza, general director of the company, commented in an interview with T21 that through these actions they hope to register a growth of 200 percent this year.

“We are very interested in Latin America, it has its challenges in particular, but we believe that it is a market that must be promoted and in the coming years we will develop it,” he said.

With eight years in the market, CM Logistics has greater maritime movement, but also carries air cargo, through these modes it transports plastic , from its waste to the finished product , but also machinery, marble, coatings and lighting, among others.

Although it ships to other countries, Latin America is the largest market for plastic exports, since “we specialize in the issue of raw materials and manufacturing.”

Mendoza specified that the company belongs to DP World’s Digital Freight Alliance , founded by the government of the United Arab Emirates, with which they have achieved good feedback and market expansion.

“With this we have been able to expand our markets, not only in imports where we can bring goods from any part of the world but also in exports, I can reach any country, even the most difficult ones and that has led us to innovate in trade. abroad and in the entire logistics field,” he noted.

He mentioned that this alliance has allowed them to have access to technology such as blockchain , with which they have visibility of the cargo in real time, “I know that several manage it, but we have innovated in logistics, we try to be very smart logistics . ”
