In June 2026, the Timely Indicator of Economic Activity (IOAE) registered growth of 1.7% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month , according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) . These figures contrast with the 0.5% year-on-year and 0.0% month-on-month growth reported last March.

This positive behavior aligns with what Claudio de la Peña, Director of Customer Care at Daimler Truck Mexico , envisions regarding the outlook for the second half of 2026 in the marketing of heavy vehicles.

“In 2026, a readjustment in the profile of clients and their investment decisions is observed. Carriers are modifying their renewal cycles and evaluating their purchases more cautiously; a trend of moderate growth is perceived, with expectations of consolidation in the second half of the year and a positive connection towards 2027,” Claudio de la Peña stated in an interview with T21.

Roberto Cano, executive director of Camionera de Chihuahua (Cachisa) , agreed with this , acknowledging that in the first part of 2026 there has been an extension in the renewal cycles, although some signs of recovery are identified .

“Companies that used to renew their fleets every three, four, or five years are postponing their purchases, and this has affected the entire industry. Signs of recovery are emerging in the second half of the year because many customers now need to renew their fleets. This momentum from the second half of the year will be crucial for performance in 2027,” Cano explained.

In June 2026, retail sales of cargo units totaled 2,792 units, a difference of 15.3% compared to the same month in 2025; however, the accumulated total stood at 13,626, a contraction of 19.9% compared to the first half of 2025, according to figures from the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT) .

ANPACT’s outlook for retail unit sales in 2026 is 30,624 units, which would represent a 21% increase over the 2025 figure of 25,296 cargo vehicles.

One of the elements that Claudio de la Peña acknowledged needs to be analyzed is the renewal models used by transportation companies. “ There isn’t a single renewal model ; we’ve identified several groups, from companies that renew every five or six years to those that renew every 12 or 15 years. What needs to be identified is the model that is most profitable for each client,” he stated.

Given the trend of extending renewal periods, Claudio noted that after-sales service is becoming increasingly important for the brand. “When there’s no immediate renewal opportunity, the focus should be on after-sales support,” he explained.

Companies have become more aware of the importance of after-sales service in boosting the productivity of their units, and according to the executive, that is where the distributor network assumes greater responsibility .

In this area, Roberto Cano asserted that operational continuity is fundamental, as customers require maximum availability of their units and minimal downtime. “After-sales service quality is one of the main competitive differentiators between brands ,” he stated.

According to data from Inegi, it was identified that in the first half of 2026 Daimler Truck moved 2,896 units in the cargo segment , representing a 21 percent share.

Considering only the tractor-trailer segment, Daimler, through its Freightliner brand , placed 1,536 units , which meant a 23.8% market share.

Daimler Truck Mexico announced the implementation of a new organizational structure in its commercial areas, with the goal of strengthening operational agility, optimizing decision-making, and reinforcing closer relationships with its customers in the country

The reorganization is based on three strategic pillars: Customer Face, Operations and Strategy , which will serve as the foundation of its business operations.

In this new structure, the Customer Face division will be headed by Claudio de la Peña and will consolidate the main points of contact with the market by integrating the areas of unit sales, parts, and service. The goal is to offer a more personalized customer experience and a comprehensive solution to meet the operational needs of the sector.

Meanwhile, the Operations department , led by Perla Verdi , will focus on optimizing internal processes, systems, and dynamics. This area will seek to bring greater clarity and speed to daily operations, with a direct impact on operational efficiency and business profitability.

Meanwhile, the Strategy department , headed by Jorge Vargas , will be responsible for aligning the company’s current priorities with its long-term vision, as well as promoting strategic initiatives that strengthen its position within the transportation industry in Mexico.

According to the company, this organizational evolution seeks to strengthen internal collaboration and consolidate its value proposition to customers and business partners, in a context where the trucking industry faces constant changes.

“Today we are taking a step that will mark a turning point in our history. This new structure will allow us to make decisions more quickly and collaborate based on trust to strengthen the business,” said Marcela Barreiro, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Mexico .

With this reorganization, Daimler Truck Mexico seeks to strengthen its ability to adapt to market challenges and capitalize on new growth opportunities within the transportation industry.
