The area comprised by the municipalities of Tepotzotlán, Cuautitlán and Tultitlán (northern part of the Valley of Mexico) has been considered the Golden Triangle for attracting investments to promote logistics and industrial developments that serve the largest consumer area in the country, and where there is access to local roads, highways, airports and the railway network.  

According to specialists, this region is considered strategic due to its ability to attract investments, especially in sectors such as automotive, electronics and advanced manufacturing ; as well as a logistics hub for e-commerce . 

But not everything is rosy. The lack of road infrastructure, the deterioration of roads and highways , as well as the lack of coordination between the different levels of government have transformed this area into a black obstacle for economic growth and attracting investments. 

“We are facing a critical situation, never seen before. In addition, thousands of workers are exposed to these dangerous conditions on a daily basis,” emphasizes Mauricio Massud, president of the Council of Chambers and Business Associations of the State of Mexico (Concaem) . 

The impact is not limited to businesses, “ citizens are also paying a high price, the poor road conditions are causing accidents and putting the health and lives of everyone at risk ,” Massud continues.  

According to the businessman, the biggest obstacle is the total absence of responsibility among the authorities at the three levels of government.  

“Nobody is taking responsibility for the problem. Everyone is passing the buck while the infrastructure remains in a catastrophic state,” says the president of Concaem.

Videos have recently gone viral in which articulated tractor-trailers, delivery trucks and private cars fall into “holes” that exist on the side of the Mexico – Querétaro highway.
