CAINTRA emphasized the need to strengthen the legal framework to promote investment, sustainability, and talent development as ways to improve competitiveness in Nuevo León, one of Mexico’s most industrialized states.

In a press conference, the organization highlighted the recently approved State Education Law , which positions Nuevo León as a national pioneer by formally integrating the dual education model , an initiative promoted by the industrial sector to close the gap between classrooms and companies.

In that regard, CAINTRA highlighted the role of the Nuevo León Congress “for promoting this important issue that will significantly benefit thousands of young people who have opted for an industrial technical career, a path that today offers incomes up to 25% higher than the average and better prospects for professional development.”

Currently, the industry demands more than 40,000 technicians in industrial branches each year, which opens an opportunity for growth and development for future generations.

According to CAINTRA, more than 450 young people participate in the dual education model, and historically  more than 2,350 have benefited in more than 180 companies , where nine out of 10 students have successfully completed the program and at least 70% of them have received a job offer from the company that offered them the development opportunity.

The organization also announced the signing of an alliance with Banregio  to facilitate access to financial resources under preferential conditions for CAINTRA members and to boost small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Another highlight was the Circular Economy Law initiative , which is currently being worked on in the Congress of Nuevo León, and for which CAINTRA has presented observations and technical criteria to ensure that its implementation contributes to sustainability without affecting the competitiveness of the industry.

The industrial organization also participates in initiatives related to transportation and transparency in public bodies.

Likewise, he called on the Executive and Legislative branches “not to give up on seeking a 2026 State Budget that prioritizes strategic projects, boosts productivity and allows capitalizing on the investment that comes to Nuevo León, while still addressing the most relevant needs of the citizens.”

On another topic, CAINTRA emphasized that it continues to promote an Administrative Procedure Law that will allow for the ordering and standardization of inspection processes for businesses in Nuevo León.

“Today, up to 20 municipal and state agencies perform these functions, which creates duplication, discretion, and risks of closure or extortion for businesses; in fact, three out of every 10 report illegal requests during these inspections. What we seek is to establish clear rules that provide legal certainty, reduce opportunities for improper practices, and strengthen the rule of law,” he stated.

In Mexico, the federal government and 20 states have a similar law that prevents arbitrary actions when ordering inspections, verifications and sanctions, and introduces defense and review mechanisms.

With these proposals and actions, CAINTRA seeks to establish greater coordination between industry, authorities and society to attract more investment, generate quality jobs and consolidate Nuevo León as the industrial and economic engine of Mexico.

The study revealed positive foreign trade performance, with exports increasing from 43.51 points in April to 45.27 points in May, and imports reaching 44.89 points in the fifth month of the year.

The physical production volume stood at 50.65 points, and the price of products and raw materials also increased by 51.04 and 58.21 points, respectively, in May 2025.

During the period, new orders reached 49.23 points, and inventories and used capacity reached 49.61 and 49.07 points, respectively, although they did not reach the expansion threshold, which is greater than 50 units.

Among factors hindering business performance, the political landscape was the main obstacle for 50% of respondents. This indicator has held first place for six consecutive months.

Weak economic activity and lower external demand are next among the most frequently mentioned obstacles, selected by 37.3% and 33.3% of survey participants, respectively.

The shortage of trained personnel, the adverse international environment, insecurity, and rising raw material prices are other factors that companies consider to be significant hindrances to their performance.

According to these results, whose expectations indicators seek to qualitatively understand the current situation of Nuevo León’s manufacturing industry through the perspective of managers, the lower economic activity shown in the indices is reflected in the factors that hindered companies’ operations.

Furthermore, the survey figures are presented in a complex economic context , marked by the uncertainty generated by the United States tariff policy and a cautious Mexican economy.

El cargo Nuevo León manufacturing indicators show slight recovery in May: Caintra apareció primero en T21.

Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna will be ratified on March 19 as president-elect of Caintra Nuevo León for the period 2025-2026, this organization reported through a press release.

Upon appointment, which will be voted on by the General Assembly of Members, Marcelo Ebrard , head of the Ministry of Economy , is expected to swear in the new Board of Directors of the organization before almost three thousand industrialists, representatives of business leaders, authorities from the three levels of government and others.

Caintra Nuevo León reported that the process for the renewal of the members of the Board of Directors for 2025-2026 was carried out in accordance with its statutes and the provisions of the Law of Business Chambers and their Confederations.

“On January 14, the current Board of Directors of the Chamber unanimously approved the installation of the Electoral Commission, headed by Carlos Jiménez Barrera, current secretary of the Council,” he said in this regard.

He added that from that moment until March 4, “a single list was received headed by Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna, as a candidate to preside over the Board of Directors of Caintra Nuevo León during the 2025-2026 period. The registration was carried out with total openness and support from the main industrial sectors of the state.”

Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arca Continental , one of the Coca-Cola bottlers .

He also serves as CEO of Grupo SanBarr , is a member of the Board of Directors of Regional and chairs the Board of Directors of Regio Engordas.

Previously, he was Vice President of the Board of Directors of Arca Continental from 2007 to 2019 and President of the Board of Directors of Arca Continental South America.

Among other positions, he has also been a leader in business representation organizations, holding positions such as vice president of the National Agricultural Council (CNA) , and president of the State Agricultural Council of Nuevo León and the Association of Cattle Fatteners of the Northeast .

He is currently a member of the Mexican Business Council (CMN) and is part of the International Trade Council of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) .

In November 2024, Nuevo León’s manufacturing industry showed a reduction in its economic activity indicators. According to the Economic Expectations Survey of the Chamber of Industry and Transformation (Caintra) , transportation logistics was one of the factors that companies considered hindered their performance, with 18.3% of the responses.

The survey revealed that, for the first time this year, weak economic activity was the main obstacle, according to 39.1% of respondents. This was followed by the political panorama and the shortage of trained personnel, each with 33.9 percent .

26.1 % of respondents indicated that lower external demand, as well as insecurity ( 19.1% ) and the adverse international environment ( 18.3% ) were other factors that affected the operation of companies during the reference month.

The survey results indicate that “although October seemed to be a month of recovery, the revised results show that the slower pace has continued over the last four months,” Caintra stressed.

The lower activity also impacted capacity utilization, exports and imports. These variables fell to 48 points , 47 points and 46.6 points , respectively; meanwhile, the index for the number of workers indicates lower hiring activity, with 47.5 points in November 2024.

Due to seasonality, the industrial sector tends to generate fewer jobs during the months of November and December.

Other indicators that showed a contraction in the eleventh month of last year were new orders with 46.42 points , and physical production volume with 46.51 points .

In turn, the indexes that reported increases in said period were: inventories with 50.97 points , prices of their products with 52.53 points  and prices of raw materials with 58.51 points.

Meanwhile, the proportion of companies investing in construction, machinery and equipment fell to 30 percent. However, the figure remains higher than in other months.

According to these results, whose expectations indicators seek to qualitatively understand the current situation of the manufacturing industry in Nuevo Leon, from the perspective of the managers, the lower economic activity shown in the indices is reflected in the factors that hindered the operation of the companies.
