BMW Group has announced the opening of a new body stamping center at its plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina (United States), as part of a $200 million investment. This development coincides with the plant’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Milan Nedeljkovic, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, highlighted the importance of this expansion for the company.

“After 30 years of successful production, we are expanding our commitment even further. By the end of 2026, production of all-electric Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) will begin here in Spartanburg, a new step to strengthen our global resilience,” Nedeljkovic highlighted.

The stamping center has technology capable of producing up to 10 thousand pieces per day . It includes a modern line of presses that use advanced techniques to optimize quality and efficiency in the production of body parts.

As part of its approach to sustainability , BMW has implemented an aluminum scrap recycling system and uses hydrogen fuel cell technology to power part of its logistics operation.

The company has also broken ground on a new battery assembly plant in Woodruff, South Carolina, which will supply electric vehicles produced in Spartanburg.

During the opening ceremony, the fourth-generation BMW X3 was also revealed to the public . This model is one of the company’s best sellers in the United States and worldwide.
