July 1st will mark the start of the formal review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) , clarified Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) , who is in Washington DC for the second round of bilateral talks between Mexico and the United States, with a view to renegotiating this trade agreement.

In a video posted on his social media, the Mexican official said that on July 1, he and his team will have a virtual meeting with their counterparts from Canada and the United States.

“We will present Mexico’s position, and they will do the same regarding what comes next with the treaty. It can be automatically extended for 16 years, or it can be maintained for 10 years with periodic reviews,” he emphasized.

Ebrard explained that there are different alternatives planned, and that on that day they will see which one “we form among the three countries”.

He added that the next round of bilateral talks on the USMCA will take place in Mexico City on July 20.

“We are going to discuss texts and content in much more detail than what we have been talking about, since we started informal conversations in March and now we are having formal rounds of review,” he explained.

In the second round of bilateral talks in Washington DC, various topics related to the trilateral trade agreement were addressed, including rules of origin, economic security, agriculture, the automotive industry, and other relevant issues .

“Mexico presented its points of view and its proposals, which will have to be analyzed by our counterpart led by Jamieson Greer ( United States Trade Representative ),” Ebrard stated in the video.

It’s worth noting that the automotive sector is one of the key industries in the trilateral trade agreement. In the period from January to May 2016, Mexico exported 1,388,236 light vehicles , a 4% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .

The main destination for vehicles assembled in the country was the United States , a market that accounted for 75.4% of international shipments, reflecting the integration of this industry in the North American region.

Furthermore, according to figures from the  US Census Bureau ,  trade between Mexico and the United States in April totaled $86,035.5 million , representing a 23.6% increase compared to April 2025.

The 2025 edition of Expo Transporte ANPACT made it clear that the heavy vehicle automotive industry remains strong, despite all the challenges this sector currently faces. For three days, Expo Guadalajara was transformed into a meeting point where manufacturers, carriers, authorities, investors, and specialists from more than 36 countries converged, making it the largest edition in the event’s history.

With 73,122 visitors , a 20% increase compared to the previous edition, and 660 exhibiting brands , representing a 29% increase , Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 reaffirmed its position as the most relevant platform in the continent for road transport and the exhibition of cargo and passenger vehicles.

The scale of the venue evidenced this evolution: 70,000 square meters of exhibition space , including the new “Open Expo” area, which this year allowed the arrival of new players and democratized access for companies participating for the first time.

“The 2025 edition featured 110 council meetings, assemblies, technical conferences, panels, and specialized forums on high-impact topics for the sector and the national and international public agenda. These included decarbonization, financing, new technologies, electromobility, artificial intelligence, innovation, road safety, inclusion, clean transportation, and productivity. The discussions brought together national and international leaders and specialists who addressed the global challenges of freight and passenger transport and road transport, from digitalization to new financing models and ESG criteria for sustainable fleets,” said Alejandro Osorio, who chairs the Expo Transporte Committee.

The inauguration set the tone for the day. Rogelio Arzate , CEO of ANPACT, emphasized that the growth was not only quantitative, but also strategic.

“It is the largest freight and passenger vehicle expo on the continent. We broke records in exhibitors, number of visitors, and square meters of exhibition space. Expo Transporte ANPACT serves as a business forum and discussion platform for the national and international public agenda of the trucking and automotive sectors, where industry leaders and key players come together in this pluralistic space that fosters knowledge, collaboration, and agreements among chambers of commerce, associations, authorities, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders,” stated Arzate.

Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 brought together federal, state and municipal authorities, as well as business leaders, representatives of industrial chambers, national and international organizations and media.

This year, 173 vehicles were exhibited , a 29% increase compared to 2023, featuring technologies that reflect the energy transition of Mexican road transport:

• Euro VI vehicles .
• Hybrid configurations .
• Natural gas units .
• Solutions focused on efficiency and emissions reduction.

This technological diversity consolidated Mexico as a world leader in the export of tractor-trailer trucks , in addition to reinforcing its position as a benchmark in manufacturing innovation.

Awards and partnerships for a stronger industry

During the event, ANPACT received the “Made in Mexico” distinction , awarded by the Ministry of Economy . This recognition guarantees the quality and competitiveness of products manufactured in the country.

Arzate noted that this seal “is a tribute to the thousands of workers who sustain this production chain and a message of confidence for our business partners.”

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat)  also presented awards for the Clean Transportation Program , highlighting companies that promote energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

In addition, the National Meeting of Mobility Authorities of the Mexican Association of Mobility Authorities (AMAM) was held , a space where secretaries and state authorities discussed topics such as regulatory harmonization and business models of road transport.

A reflection of the dynamism and resilience of the sector

The 2025 edition delivered a clear message: the heavy vehicle automotive industry in Mexico is not only growing, but evolving. It showcased innovation, strengthened partnerships, boosted competitiveness, and brought together the entire value chain under a single focus: advancing towards safer, more productive, and sustainable transportation.

ANPACT emphasized that the strength of this meeting lies in unity, resilience, inclusion and commitment to Mexico , values ​​that characterize the sector and that will continue to guide its transformation in the coming years.
