It is not a coincidence or an improvised adventure; there is a well-thought-out structure, a plan that was developed over more than six months and that has a name, history, and vocation: RTC (Cargo Transport Routes) .

This new trucking company was founded with the support of Vax Solutionsas part of its strategic growth. It is also led by its partners (Eduardo Chaim, Sergio Nava, and Mauricio Gardea).

RTC arrives in Manzanillo with its own transportation offering , specializing in multimodal platforms, in-house developed technology , and a clear commitment: “to operate with excellence from the first kilometer,” said Eduardo Chaim, RTC’s Commercial Director, in an interview with T21.

“We’re coming from a solid foundation. We inherited the operational experience, technological structure, and service vision we had already built at Vax,” Chaim said.

Furthermore, between January and April 2025, the port handled 10 million 413 thousand 468 tons of cargo , just 6.6% less than in the same period of the previous year.

In terms of customs, Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM) reported that during the first quarter of this year, the Manzanillo customs office collected 48,465.85 million pesos , an increase of 29.2% compared to the same period in 2024, consolidating itself as the second most important in the country, only behind Nuevo Laredo.

RTC’s five-year goal is ambitious: to reach 150 units. Today, the project has launched with “three tractor-trailers and a planned increase of two pairs of full trucks” per month. “We’re not rushing, but we are moving at a pace,” Chaim added.

RTC’s strategy to address the operator shortage , one of the most serious challenges in the trucking industry, is not limited to competing with better salaries.

“We have to invest in education. In the future, we want to open a school to train operators. That’s the real solution,” Chaim said.

One of RTC’s key differentiators is its commitment to innovation. The entire technological platform it uses was developed in-house, tailored to its needs, and focused on service customization, rather than forcing teams to adapt to generic software.

The combination of technology, highly trained operators, and an agile sales team forms the triangle of excellence with which they plan to position themselves in Manzanillo and, later, in Lázaro Cárdenas.

A passion that comes from home

Although the business structure is well-defined, there’s something deeper behind this new project: a personal story.

“I come from a family of truck drivers. As a child, I washed sunflower seeds in the summers, and later I drove torton trucks. I always dreamed of owning a trucking company,” Chaim confessed.

That childhood dream has now translated into a company that wants to do things right from day one, with operators receiving medical attention if needed, respected rest periods, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

“We don’t want to play the family business game. RTC is a company, with rules, with structure, with vision. But above all, with purpose,” Chaim asserted.

The Chamber of Deputies ‘ Marine Commission approved the ruling that reforms provisions of the Ports Law, where the name of the Comprehensive Port Administration (API) is changed to the National Port System Administration (Asipona) .

The ruling comes three years and five months after the Navy decided to make this name change, once it took control of the administration of Mexico’s ports.

Furthermore, the reform mandates the establishment of state advisory committees that will be responsible for, among other things, promoting the port.

The bill was approved with 17 votes in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions . It was then referred to the Board of Directors for a vote.

Representative Gabriela Benavides, the sponsor of the reform, noted that the name change is important, providing legal certainty to investments in the port and to those involved in decision-making.

He added that the concept of port administrator expressly refers to the holder of an Asipona concession, which resolves a conflict that has existed since 2020 and a secretarial agreement establishing a new name instead of API as administrators of the National Port System.

For his part, Representative Humberto Coss y León Zúñiga, head of the Commission, explained that the proposed modification was welcomed, proposing that state governments should have an advisory commission , which will be responsible for promoting the port and issuing recommendations that affect urban activity and the ecological balance of the area.

The legislator maintained that the ruling will provide legal certainty to the people targeted by the Ports Law , such as logistics operators, freight forwarders, port service providers, and, in general, all persons directly or indirectly involved in activities with the port administration.
