<p><a href="https://www.apmterminals.com/en/mexico"><span>APM Terminals México</span></a><span> , the specialized container terminal unit of  </span><a href="https://www.maersk.com/"><span>AP Moller-Maersk</span></a><span> , reported sustained growth in total cargo throughput during the first quarter of 2025 (1Q25), as well as an increase in import cargo.</span></p>
<p><strong><span>In this regard, the Lázaro Cárdenas</span></strong><span> container terminal in Michoacán registered a </span><strong><span>7%</span></strong><span> increase in cargo movement, totaling </span><strong><span>227,575 TEUs</span></strong><span> , compared to the same period last year.</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span>&#8220;This performance positions the terminal as one of the most dynamic and strategic in the country,&#8221; APM Terminals Mexico said in a statement.</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span>Regarding </span><strong><span>import cargo</span></strong><span> , Lázaro Cárdenas also had positive figures, with a </span><strong><span>15%</span></strong><span> increase , equivalent to </span><strong><span>76,832 TEUs</span></strong><span> , &#8220;surpassing the national average and reaffirming the sector&#8217;s confidence in the operational capacity, reliability and future vision of APM Terminals.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span>Meanwhile, </span><strong><span>APM Terminals Progreso</span></strong><span> , in Yucatán, showed a positive trend, with </span><strong><span>a 1% increase</span></strong><span> in import cargo, reaching </span><strong><span>15,224 TEUs</span></strong><span> .</span></p>
<p><span>The firm emphasized that this growth consolidates its role as a key gateway for trade in southeastern Mexico, &#8220;with strong logistical links to the United States, Europe, and Latin America.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span>During the first four months of 2025, the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, one of the most important in the Mexican Pacific, registered </span><strong><span> a 13% increase</span></strong><span> in container movement, with a total of </span><strong><span>803,191 TEU</span></strong><span> , of which </span><strong><span>31%</span></strong><span> corresponded to imports, </span><strong><span>31%</span></strong><span> to exports and </span><strong><span>38%</span></strong><span> to transshipment; in addition, it received a total of 311 container ships, according to figures from the </span><a href="https://www.puertolazarocardenas.com.mx/noticia/237"><span>Lázaro Cárdenas National Port System Administration (Asipona)</span></a><span> .</span></p>
<p><span data-teams="true">For its part, the expansion project for the Progreso deep-sea port saw a significant increase in investment in 2025, going from 7.9 billion pesos (mdp) to <strong>12.225 billion pesos</strong> , according to the Yucatan government.</span></p>
