“That we all take on this role of giving something back to society and that together we can improve the future of the country,” was one of the reflections that Alejandra Méndez, director of the TRAXION Foundation , shared with T21 during the presentation of the 2025 Annual Report: AXION with Purpose .

According to the document, the foundation’s work impacted 565,697 people in 2025, representing an increase of more than 50% compared to 2024 .

“This was achieved thanks to the processes and institutionalization that we as a foundation have built, but also to the support of allies, other companies and public institutions that have believed in Fundación TRAXION and have helped us to generate a tangible impact,” Méndez highlighted.

Since its creation in 2020, the foundation has benefited more than 2.2 million Mexicans. Its strategy is structured around three pillars that enable it to transform realities in vulnerable communities .

In education, the En Ruta por la Educación program awarded more than five thousand basic level certifications, while SuperaT granted 1,163 scholarships for high school and technological training.

In its socially conscious transportation program, TRAXION’s infrastructure was put at the service of society. During 2025, 35,000 people were transported in solidarity initiatives, and more than 700 tons of humanitarian aid were mobilized in emergency situations.

Throughout 2025, 3,839 employees participated in community and environmental actions , consolidating the human commitment behind each project.

“Beyond the numbers, we are talking about transformed trajectories and people who now have better tools to boost their social mobility. Each number reflects a real story of effort and overcoming adversity,” Méndez emphasized.

During the event, awards were presented to foundation partners, including the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA) , the Dr. Simi Foundation , and others. Méndez also emphasized the importance of transparency within the foundation .

“ We’ve been preparing this report for a few months, seeking to document and make transparent everything the foundation does as an institution for the development and impact in the country. I think it was very well received today. I was very pleased to have so many allies here who were able to join us, to whom we are accountable, as well as many directors of attraction, with companies that support us ,” he emphasized.

This year, the TRAXION Foundation plans a significant expansion of its ” On the Road for Education” program , increasing its fleet from eight to twelve mobile units. The goal is to ensure that “no one is left behind” and that more people join this movement, which aims to provide society with the tools to improve the country’s future.

Alejandra Méndez shared with T21 the ways to contact the foundation for those who require support in transporting people or cargo.

“Our main channel is the website , where there are forms to request support. We verify that the request comes from a social institution that benefits a cause, and then we mobilize our units to provide support,” he concluded.

El cargo TRAXION Foundation: transforming the lives of more than half a million people by 2025 apareció primero en T21.

The airport groups of the Pacific (GAP) , North Central (OMA) and Southeast (Asur) registered growth in their income for 2024, despite the decline in passenger movement.

The concessionaires stated that the increase in their income is due to the aeronautical and non-aeronautical income they provide, such as restaurants, VIP lounges and shops, among others, within their airports.

GAP mentioned in its report sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) that it increased its income by 1.2% during the last year compared to the same period in 2023, going from 33,224 million pesos to 33,614 million pesos.

However, revenues at Mexico’s airports decreased by 346.1 million pesos, or 2.1%, in the period from January to December year-on-year, mainly due to a 1% reduction in passenger traffic and a 92.5% compliance rate.

However, its net profit fell by 8.4% because it ended the year with 8,875 million pesos compared to 9,689 million pesos in the period compared.

Regarding passenger movement, it reported a 2.1% drop, transporting 62 million 156 thousand users, compared to 63 million 461 thousand in 2023.

For its part, OMA, the concessionaire of 13 airports in the country, recorded an annual increase of 4.3% in its revenues in 2024 , going from 14 million 457 thousand pesos to 15 million 073 pesos; as well as an adjusted EBITDA that reached 9 thousand 069 million pesos, maintaining the level of 2023.

He said diversification activities increased by 28%, mainly due to growth in revenues from industrial services and hotel services.

Passenger traffic was reduced by 1.2% as it received 26 million 510 thousand users against the 26 million 845 thousand in 2023, this derived from the 3.5% decrease in the offer of seats by the airlines.

Asur reported a 21.8% increase in its total revenues for 2024 , from 19 million 027 thousand 902 pesos to 23 million 168 thousand 690 pesos. Revenues for the fourth quarter of that year alone increased by 31.2% year-on-year, mainly due to the results of the approval of the Master Development Plan.

While its net profit for the mentioned period was 11 million 632 thousand 439 pesos compared to eight million 708 thousand 481 pesos in 2023, which translated into an increase of 33.6 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of users moved went from 43 million 754 thousand to 41 million 645 thousand, which represented a 4.8% decrease year-on-year.

Domestic traffic ended at 19 million 808 thousand 950 passengers, compared to 21 million 272 thousand 863 passengers in 2023, a drop of 6.9%; meanwhile, international traffic fell 2.6%, going from 22 million 195 thousand 121 to 21 million 611 thousand 380 users.

El cargo GAP, OMA and Asur, with mixed results in 2024 apareció primero en T21.

Mexican airline Viva Aerobus reported that during the period from January to December of last year  it achieved a 10% growth in passenger movement , ending the period with 27 million 695 thousand passengers transported compared to 24 million 992 thousand in 2023.

The company recorded a 10.8% increase in domestic traffic, going from 22 million 372 thousand to 24 million 784 thousand users, while international traffic went from 2 million 620 thousand to 2 million 910, which meant an increase of 11.1% year-on-year.

“We closed the year on a strong note, reaching the highest number of passengers in our history, with 27.7 million, while maintaining healthy load factors. This achievement comes despite the challenges posed by the Pratt & Whitney reviews,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

By December 2024, passenger traffic increased by 13.3% compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 2.6 million users, driven by a 10.6% and 35.1% increase in domestic and international traffic, respectively. The load factor reached 87.1% compared to 85.0% in 2023, driven by an 88.5% and 81.6% load factor in the domestic and international markets, respectively.

“Looking ahead to 2025, we remain focused on maintaining our operational reliability and disciplined capacity management in a changing environment,” Zuazua said.

El cargo Viva Aerobus Closes 2024 on a Positive Note apareció primero en T21.

Volaris and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) , the concessionaire of 13 airports in Mexico, reported a 12% and 1.2% drop in passenger traffic last year compared to 2023.

The Pratt & Whitney engine overhaul continues to affect Volaris, as at the end of 2024 it recorded a 12% decrease in passenger movement year-on-year.

Domestic traffic impacted Volaris, as it decreased by 16.2%, ending the period with 21 million 705 thousand passengers, four million 204 thousand fewer than in the same period last year. Meanwhile, international traffic went from seven million 588 thousand to seven million 768 thousand passengers, which translated into a 2.4% increase.

In December, Volaris’ ASM capacity decreased 4.5% year-over-year due to Pratt & Whitney engine inspections, slightly better than forecast, due to the recovery of some aircraft.

In that month, the airline transported 2.8 million passengers, an occupancy factor of 87.6%, an increase of 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous year.

RPMs, that is, the number of seats sold to passengers multiplied by the number of miles flown, decreased by 2.1%, with a reduction of 8.3% in the Mexican domestic market, and an increase of 9.0 percent in international markets.

“We are pleased with the execution of our strategy and continue to prioritize operational performance and network stability as we move forward with the engine inspections required by Pratt & Whitney,” said Enrique Beltranena, Volaris’ CEO and President.

For its part, OMA experienced a decline in passenger traffic from January to December 2024, going from 26 million 845 thousand 451 users to 26 million 510 thousand 498 , that is, 1.2% less year-on-year.

The national market suffered a 3.5% drop , ending at 22 million 728 thousand 094 travelers, 828 thousand 721 fewer than in 2023, driven by the airports of Acapulco, with a drop of 31.8%, Ciudad Juárez with 5.7% less, Culiacán with a decrease of 14.8%, among others.

At the international level, the increase was 15% year-on-year, going from 3,288,636 to 3,782,404 passengers.

The largest increases were seen in the airports of Culiacán with 27%, Torreón with 25.1%, Chihuahua with 20.5%, Monterrey with 20.3%, to name a few.
