Insecurity in the trucking industry is one of the key issues that the new president of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation (Canacar) , Augusto Ramos Melo, will address during his term. In this regard, Motum shared his vision on the structural challenges facing freight transportation in Mexico and the need to evolve toward a smart prevention model as the new operating standard

The freight transport industry faces an adverse security environment, where the country’s slow economic growth puts pressure on the amount of freight movement in the vast majority of sectors, causing freight-generating companies to seek efficiencies , which makes the competitive environment more aggressive, increases insecurity in the country, and keeps the struggle for survival going.

“Now, the most important challenge will be to be as prepared and trained as possible for whatever comes next, not only to survive, but to emerge stronger when this ends or we enter a period of economic abundance. In addition to our most important asset, our people, simplification, connectivity, and systems will be the most significant competitive advantage any fleet in Mexico can have. If we add to this the superpowers of AI (ANIA), our capabilities will be infinitely greater than those of our competitors,” emphasized Pedro Rivera Benard, CEO of Tecnomotum.

Motum has consistently argued that the traditional model based on reacting after the event is insufficient. Economic pressure, asset risks, and the need for efficiency require anticipation, not just response.

It is in this space that the development of Enlace Freightliner 3.0 (EFL 3.0) and ANIA (Artificial Intelligence Neural Agent) is effectively and positively integrated . Rivera explained that the central objective of this development was to reduce the total operating cost of fleets.

The model integrates loss prevention —theft and accidents— with daily operational optimization, including fuel management, reduced maintenance costs and logistical improvements.

“The difference compared to traditional monitoring is clear: it is not limited to observing and alerting, but rather it connects signals, prioritizes risks and activates protocols in real time, reducing the probability of an event escalating into a loss,” said Pedro Rivera.

Intelligent prevention does not replace people, it enhances their decision-making capacity.

Valadez Transport: Automation + commitment

Beyond concepts, Motum has focused on presenting realities based on the implementation of automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), based on success stories with carriers who benefit from the intelligent prevention model .

Transportes Valadez is one such case. “In this case, it became clear that technology, no matter how much automation and AI we use, doesn’t work on its own; it needs a committed and trained team that makes agile decisions and has action protocols in place for whatever might happen,” Rivera Benard emphasized.

The case demonstrates that preventing an event before it becomes a loss depends not only on the algorithm, but on the combination of applied intelligence, clear protocols, and prepared teams.

And just as with Transportes Valadez, Motum’s vision is to be a strategic ally in strengthening carriers’ capacity to face daily challenges. “It’s not just about installing a system; it’s about integrating tools that raise the level of control and preparedness of operations,” said Pedro Rivera.

When a robbery attempt is thwarted or an accident is prevented, beyond the individual unit, we are talking about the safety of an operator, the continuity of a company, and the assets that have often been built up over generations.

“EFL 3.0 and ANIA are tools designed to anticipate, prioritize, and act when risk begins to escalate. Our commitment is to ensure that fleets have systems that allow them to reduce uncertainty and make clearer decisions in critical moments,” emphasized the CEO of Tecnomotum.

Pedro Rivera took the opportunity to congratulate Augusto Ramos Melo and Rómulo Mejía Durán on assuming the presidency and vice presidency, respectively, of Canacar . “We wish them much success in this new period; we are convinced that the collaborative work between the Chamber, carriers, and technology partners will be key to strengthening the sector in the coming years,” commented Pedro Rivera Benard.

GUADALAJARA, JAL. – Artificial Intelligence (AI) has dominated speeches and panels in recent years. However, for Tecnomotum , its value lies not in the trend, but in its practical application within freight transportation , an industry where every operational decision influences safety, costs, and business continuity.

That was the premise that the company presented at Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , along with a key message: AI only generates results when fleets adopt it and integrate it into their daily operations .

ANIA: The AI that processes millions of data points in seconds

During his conference, Carlos Cota , Vice President of Revenue at Tecnomotum, explained how the industry has moved from traditional tracking systems to operational intelligence models, where data must be processed in real time.

“A customer with a thousand trucks generated a million alerts a month. It’s humanly impossible to handle them all. AI should help us filter that information and act only on what’s truly relevant,” he said.

With that challenge as a starting point, Tecnomotum developed ANIA , its artificial intelligence neural agent, capable of correlating information, analyzing operational patterns, detecting anomalies and activating automatic actions such as engine stops, route redefinition or activation of security protocols.

Beyond hardware : adoption as the true differentiator

In its space within the event, Tecnomotum showcased an immersive experience, where operators could experience real-life scenarios: distractions, fatigue, attempted robberies, and critical situations inside and outside the cabin.

The goal was not only to demonstrate technology, but to show how perception changes when the operator understands what AI is for .

Several participants shared their impressions:

“I used to think the camera was for pointing out mistakes, but now I see that it’s for helping us.”

“AI alerts me when I’m too tired. It works.”

This type of feedback points to a cultural change that Tecnomotum has promoted: that technology is not seen as punishment , but as a tool for support.

Cota expressed it this way:

“AI is not meant to replace people, but to give them superpowers.”

The future of transport

Cota also addressed the convergence between generative AI and digital twins , technologies that will allow the simulation of complex logistical scenarios—such as blockades, storms, or port closures—and anticipate the best operational response.

“We will be able to ask the system: what happens if my route floods?, what do I do if my driver has been driving for more than 12 hours or if the brakes indicate a failure?” he explained.

One of Tecnomotum’s differentiating factors is the regionalization of its algorithms , designed to understand the Mexican and Latin American context.

“Our models understand when an operator says ‘the rats came out’ and know that they’re not talking about animals, but about an attempted robbery. The AI has to speak our language,” he commented.

In addition, the company has developed specific functions for the domestic market, such as weapons detection in the cabin , engine shutdowns with automated protocols , and predictive alerts adapted to high-risk routes.

Training: the key to turning technology into results

Tecnomotum emphasized that adoption doesn’t happen on its own. Therefore, it promotes Enlace Freightliner Academy , a continuous training program for operators, monitors, and fleet managers.

The goal is to ensure that teams understand how AI works, how to interpret information, and how to integrate the technology into their daily operations.

For Tecnomotum, the formula is clear: without training, AI is just a tool; with training, it becomes an enabler of efficiency, security, and decision-making .

The message Tecnomotum delivered at Expo Transporte is direct: artificial intelligence is no longer an aspirational concept , but an operational component that allows for preventing incidents , responding to emergencies, and improving productivity.

And its impact is greatest when the technology is adopted, understood, and becomes part of the daily routine of those who manage, monitor, and direct the operation. Motum: More than Artificial Intelligence, real results.

To say that technology is advancing by leaps and bounds is no exaggeration ; this is the daily experience that Tecnomotum experiences with ANIA, the Artificial Intelligence Neural Agent developed to interpret data, act, and make decisions, protecting the transportation industry, not only its assets but also its operators.

At the last National Forum on Freight Transport , Pedro Rivera, CEO of Tecnomotum , sowed the reasoning for the urgency of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) personally and of course in organizations, an idea supported by Luis Campos, Global Manager for Logistics at Grupo Bimbo , who asserted that “we cannot continue managing fleets without technology.”

Rivera described to the audience convened by the National Association of Private Transportation (ANTP) , the process by which Tecnomotum created a digital twin that allows replicating what operators do on the road , and today with more than two thousand clients in the market, they increasingly provide ANIA with intelligence maps to have the capacity to react.

ANIA’s engine completely transforms alert management in transportation. Instead of overwhelming teams with hundreds or thousands of daily notifications, ANIA uses AI to automatically filter out those that don’t pose a real risk . Thanks to its ability to generate meta-alerts, it prioritizes only the most critical events, allowing monitoring centers to focus on what really matters.

“What a monitoring center can do in six to 20 minutes, ANIA does in 1.6 seconds,” Pedro Rivera emphasized, even going so far as to make decisions such as shutting down the engine if the action is deemed necessary.

Within the framework of the panel developed through a video, Miguel Gómez Tapia, president of Grupo Fletes México , described the results achieved with ANIA, where through the use of Enlace Freightliner 3.0 , outstanding results were achieved such as a 99.8% effectiveness against attempted theft of units .

Find out here! How ANIA can help you protect your fleet and optimize your operations.

One factor Miguel Gómez highlighted was Tecnomotum’s adaptability to the specific transportation needs in Mexico.

“You’re more open to addressing those needs by technologically doing what you need to do in development to help with those challenges; other foreign tools are likely to be hesitant or slow to do so,” he emphasized.

ANIA focuses on ensuring that all information shared through telemetry and the cameras installed in the units can be filtered, allowing monitoring centers to focus on corrective actions to prevent accidents or thefts.

Pedro Rivera emphasized that the most advanced AI models can make better use of all the data generated by telematics and cameras, thereby reducing the likelihood of errors in fleet management .

At the same time, the executive called on the audience not yet immersed in the use of technology and AI to test its potential. This will lead to the next step: setting an indicator for their use of the technology and the percentage by which they are improving their company’s processes or making work more efficient through the use of Artificial Intelligence.

Currently, Tecnomotum has more than 120 engineers dedicated to developing technological solutions for the Mexican trucking industry, addressing the real needs faced by fleets on the road.

Artificial Intelligence , a path of no return

In an era where trucking increasingly requires greater efficiency , communication, and traceability, as well as a more precise service approach, AI is moving from the extraordinary to the necessary.

This is how Tecnomotum approaches the use of Artificial Intelligence and development in the ANIA solution, which evolves to meet the current and future needs of transporters .

Pedro Rivera stated that ANIA is the evolution of AI aimed at promoting efficiency in monitoring centers , in the way fleets operate, in generating greater added value to transportation and in having greater profitability of assets, in addition to talking about asset security, where through its use accidents can be reduced, thefts prevented and other solutions.

“Imagine being able to better manage fuel in a fleet. Since fuel is the main operating cost, having control results in greater profitability,” he emphasized.

The executive even emphasized that more applications can be addressed that have not been addressed today and that are critical to daily activities within the trucking industry and where value can be generated.

“How far can we go?” depends a lot on the customers and how we integrate it with other systems; that will also depend on each fleet.

Tecnomotum ‘s capacity for innovation translates into a swift and effective response for a portfolio of more than two thousand T1 and T2 transport companies, with tangible results such as the execution of more than 500,000 engine shutdowns per year , which protect the operator and the unit in critical situations.

“In the area of technology processing, we have a huge competitive advantage because we have been operating in the Mexican market for 20 years. We have a wealth of data from our customers that allows us to transform it into more effective solutions, such as engine shutdowns, of which we detonate more than 500,000 each year,” Pedro Rivera emphasized.

The executive’s assertion was supported by the testimony of a client, Miguel Gómez, highlighting the capabilities of Tecnomotum, a national provider that stands out for the solutions it offers and implements in the Mexican market.

“One of our advantages is the Artificial Intelligence layer, where cloud processing is done, and what we can do and how we can act on the vehicle. Today, we have 10 or 12 different ways to trigger an engine shutdown and also how to interact with the operator,” Rivera said.

Based on the above, all this data is translated into daily work at the monitoring centers, where ANIA’s work is demonstrated through efficient and more accurate solutions .
