Established as the region’s most relevant training and visibility program for women leaders, LIFE – Female Leadership for the Maritime-Port Sector – announced its fourth edition, which will take place from March 17 to 20, 2026, in Panama City. Organized by PR PORTS and MULTIMODAL , this regional gathering has become a strategic space to promote talent, equity, and innovation within a historically masculinized industry, but one undergoing rapid transformation.

Since its creation in 2023, LIFE has trained more than 150 professionals from 16 Latin American countries. Today, these professionals form a network of women with technical, executive, and operational profiles, generating a multiplier effect within their organizations. The program combines high-level training, mentoring, collaborative leadership, and a cross-cutting gender perspective , aiming not only at the individual growth of its participants but also at the institutional strengthening of the companies and institutions that support them.

Each LIFE program represents a turning point: not only for those who participate, but also for the maritime and port ecosystem as a whole. The program has demonstrated that investing in the development of women leaders generates concrete returns in terms of operational efficiency, organizational culture, talent retention, and sustainability.

LIFE 2026 is aimed at professional women working in ports, terminals, shipping companies, maritime agencies, logistics companies, public and multilateral organizations, business chambers, and technical training centers. It also calls on companies, institutions, and governments to join as strategic partners, strengthening their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , especially those related to gender equality (SDG 5), decent work (SDG 8), and partnerships for development (SDG 17).

The program has the active support of key entities such as the Network of Women of Maritime Authorities of Latin America (Red MAMLa) , the Inter-American Commission on Ports (CIP-OAS) , the Central American Commission on Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) , the State Ports of Spain , the Panama Canal Authority and a growing network of international organizations, which reflects its regional reach and legitimacy.

Registration for LIFE 2026 is now open.

Altamira Multimodal Terminal, a leading figure in the Mexican logistics landscape, celebrates its 26th anniversary with a series of achievements and projects that promise to further boost its market position.

Enrique De Hita Sánchez, president of Grupo Multimodal Altamira, shared his vision on the most pressing logistical challenges in the northeastern region, highlighting the importance of connectivity, specialization in logistics services, and security as key factors for maintaining an efficient and reliable supply chain.

Regarding the challenges faced over the past 26 years, he emphasized constant evolution and a commitment to innovation as fundamental pillars for maintaining competitiveness. “One of the greatest challenges has been automation. Investing in the implementation and updating of our systems and processes has allowed us to optimize operations and offer innovative logistics solutions,” commented De Hita Sánchez.

De Hita also highlighted the exponential growth of Altamira Multimodal Terminal, where in the past three years they have managed to double their operations, expanding their presence through new terminals in Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. This growth has been supported by significant investments in infrastructure and technology, as well as the commitment and dedication of their human team.

Their network of business relationships extends to more than 30 countries worldwide, with a particular focus on the United States, China, Brazil, and Germany.

In the United States, thanks to the geographic proximity to the East Coast, they handle imports and exports, especially in the automotive, food, and consumer goods sectors.

For China, the company both imports and exports. Operations cover a wide variety of manufactured products, technology, and consumer goods imported from there; in addition to exporting raw materials to China.

Brazil represents a key market for the company’s logistics operations in relation to the cold chain, due to Mexico having established a quota for importing tariff-free chicken meat some years ago to address national supply needs.

Lastly, in Germany, they deal with giants in the steel and automotive products industries.

Looking towards the future, Altamira Terminal Multimodal has several strategic projects underway for the year 2024.

“The achievement for the 2nd consecutive year of the Super Companies Certification 2024, as recognition of our commitment to the well-being and development of our collaborators, with which we are celebrating our 26th anniversary,” said the president of Altamira Terminal Multimodal.

Additionally, the expansion of the Meat Inspection Point from six to twelve doors, doubling the operational capacity for handling, storage, and transportation of products.

The expansion of the Multimodal Customs Area, to improve efficiency in handling foreign trade cargo, increasing capacity, and speeding up customs processes and inspections by various authorities.

And the development of the Altamira – Monterrey Intermodal Corridor, which will strengthen the logistical connections between the Port of Altamira and the industrial zone of Nuevo León, significantly improving the efficiency of intermodal transportation and reducing time and costs for its logistics partners.

Finally, De Hita expressed his optimism regarding nearshoring and its impact on the Port of Altamira, highlighting its strategic position as a gateway to northern Mexico and its capacity to facilitate efficient logistics in key regions of the country.

Altamira Terminal Multimodal continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence and innovation in the logistics field, consolidating its position as a key player in the national and international market.
