NUEVO LAREDO, TAMPS.– In 1974, a group of businessmen from the border region of Nuevo Laredo had the initiative to create the Central de Servicios de Carga de Nuevo Laredo (CenSeCar) , as a unit for auto transport services and links with foreign trade.

This group of businessmen received authorization to operate the cargo center, but with the requirement of operating it along the entire border with the United States. Since then, the company has had a presence in all border states.

Prior to Mexico’s dynamism in foreign trade, with its entry into the GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) and later NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), CenSeCar established services to support the linkage of auto transport through requests, bonds and manifests, and current challenges such as CFDI stamping, bill of lading, tag for crossing notices, among other services.

David Villarreal, president of CenSeCar, recalled during the celebration of its 50th anniversary that the organization has overcome various challenges and difficulties  that have served to add experiences and achieve growth.

Currently, CenSeCar has 57 partners, which together have more than 20 thousand transportation units. It is present along the border with the United States with offices in Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros (Tamaulipas), Piedras Negras (Coahuila), Ciudad Juárez (Chihuahua), Nogales (Sonora) and Tijuana (Baja California).

Ninfa Cantú, Secretary of Economy of the Government of Tamaulipas , recalled that in 1974 the word logistics was barely heard, and now CenSeCar has established itself as a pillar of logistics development and contributed to Nuevo Laredo being positioned as the most important border port in Latin America.

“Nuevo Laredo is an example of resilience, plays a strategic role and contributes to a more competitive border in the context of the USMCA,” said Ninfa Cantú.

Recognition of former presidents

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of CenSeCar, recognition was given to the presidents who have headed the organization since 1974.

• Achilles Garza Flores (1978-1979 – 1980-1987)

• Jose Manuel Suarez Lopez (1992-1994 – 1996-1999)
• Roberto Quintanilla Buendía (1994-1996 – 1999-2001 – 2018-2020)
• Luis Roberto Moreno Sesma (2002-2017)
• Carlos Luis Hinojosa Sanchez (2017-2018)
• Jorge Luis Lozano Guajardo (2020-2022)

In addition, David Villarreal took the opportunity to recognize entrepreneurs who have also been key to the development of CenSeCar, for which he thanked Oscar Hinojosa Martinez, Horacio Hinojosa Martinez, Ovidio Saldaña Garza, Alfredo Baena Quintanilla, Bruno Johnson Salinas, Rogelio Martinez Vargas, Jose Panfilo Gonzalez, “and many more men who we remember.”

The president of CenSeCar took advantage of the presence of Gerardo Alanís Espronseda, founder of Autotransportes Alanis , to thank him for his trust and the space to participate in this organization.

An award was also given to the founder of Transportes Marva , José Luis Martínez Vázquez, “for his effort, leadership and work for the benefit of society that has left its mark”, and the same was given to his son, Miguel Ángel Martínez Millán, current president of the National Chamber of Cargo Transport (Canacar).
